This Venya guy speaks PERFECT American English - like, utterly flawless. The guy must be some kind of language savant, because even most British film actors don't do American accents that well.
Benjamin .Heneberry Oh yes every British still laugh out loud with Dick Van Dyke performance with Cockney accent in Mary Poppin. And we had this American lady Tracy Goodwin who worked for 'Expert village' explaining to American people what to do to have a perfect British accent. For sure she was a star during an ITV program as a clown not an expert in reducing accent. See pn youtube Graham Norton How to speak perfect British English with Tracy Goodwin.
I am convinced that hack n. 9 is the most critical. I cannot view myself speaking English while thinking in my language (Italian). I used to do it during those summer study vacations in the U.K. when I was a teenager. The communication process had been time-consuming and messy, and I ended up looking for other Italians students, there was plenty of them, and I did not learn much. After graduating from hi-school, I moved to Boston for six months to learn English. As the months passed by, I became surrounded in an English environment (living in an American family, all classes and textbooks entirely in English, being forced to talk to survive, etc.), I first started to dream in English and then to think in English. The only weird part is that when someone asks me to translate from English to Italian or vice versa, I am confused and not used to switch among the two idioms. Either I am in the English mode or the Italian one, I'm not able yet to rapidly interchange the two languages, maybe someday, in the far future, I will.
OMG, I love your videos. I just discovered you (them) an hour ago. I am like you in a similar way. I've finished a long-term project of completing an Indonesian to English dictionary but only based on 164 of English's most commonly used irregular verbs ...the dictionary (actually I call it a reference) is about 20,000 words at his point. I have 5 more volumes planned along the same lines. After finishing my first one, I thought it would be great to have audio along with it thus I began thinking about RU-vid and self-publishing. I have been learning, learning, learning and learning for a month now. I have this vision of teaching 1000 Indonesians how to speak like either an American or British (and I guess Australian) native speaker in 200 days (by mastering one 5-7 minute video per day watched 3 times) and also hooking learners up to other sites as yours so they can reach their goal of becoming a native speaker in 200 days. I know that if I could get my gear and team working I could produce 200 videos by December. I can make the content but I am not good at editing sound or videos and I could also direct thumbnails etc as its just time-consuming. I would like to have an investor and have a few people to talk to. I have a good team (that I can't pay at the moment. Nor do I have the appropriate equipment (but have put it all into a business plan and know what I want.) Regardless, having said all that. You and your team are inspirational. Thank you for your work. I will monitor your work and when my viewers reach video 40-60, I will be phasing the use of Indonesian out and will begin be directing them to sites like yours to help them (and me reach my goal of getting them to speak like a native speaker in 200 days. God bless, love your work. Share a prayer for Mr. C in Indonesia.
These videos are very good and effective for learning spoken American English.I have been trying to learn it for many years in my life.I studied countless grammar books.I spent thousands of hours listening to different radio broadcast from bbc to via.however I think I did not get the necessary confidence until I happened to find Marina s videos.i have recommended these videos for my children and many others who come to my office.keep up the good work Marina
Hello! My name is Alua, and I’m from Kazakhstan, but now I study in Korea as an exchange student. Thanks a lot for this informative video, and I would love to see more!
When I see such a gifted guy like Venya, I realize that I will never be able to reach such a point. Especially when he says that English must be felt, you don't need to memorize and put a lot of effort into it. These words discourage me from continuing learning English. Congrats. Anyway, that looks amazing.
That's a great video!! I love it!! And one more thing I want to share with you, learning phonetic is really important, I learned that when I started learning English again independently, it helped me a lot to understand and sound more like native speakers!
Thank you so much for this amazing video i really enjoined it. In the past I thought I could never sound like a native speaker but now i do believe I can.
Phonetic is important but phonology is more important. Phonetic is how to pronounce an isolated word , phonology deals with all the changes in prononciation in a phrase.
I'm a Chinese undergraduate, watching loads of youtube really helps me improve my accent. Just pay attention the little lingustic details, common verbal words and structure. And just seek opportunities to talk more with native speaker.

I have been noticing a lot of comments about how he looks or his ethnicity not that is really matters but from watching his vlogs of him in Russia I think his mom is Russian Russian and his father is Korean Russian. Regardless this guy's english is perfect he has a better accent than me and I'm a native speaker, would not have guessed that he was Russian or that he only came to the states 4 years ago. I know a lot of Russians/ Ukrainians who have been here for 10 years and still speak with a heavy accent. Outstanding!
He reminds me of Rich Brian from my country Indonesia. Looks so asian, so fluent in english even tho english is not their first language, the way he talks and behaves of something. Such a COOL genius smart guy!!
thats crazy, Marina i could tell isnt native but she speaks almost perfect English with no accent but this guy is insane! sounds just like an american from the south east coast
thanks! to the both of u.. coz i had a blast! especially as u uplifted me not to be afraid to make mistakes in speaking English.. you're amazing teacher!
I m a 32 year old woman, neither from UK nor from USA , not from russia or germany ..i dont know anything about those countries.. but once i watched one of ur vedios on youtube , and after that vedio i immediately subscribed .. i m from india , i can understand english , i want to make my accent good .. but i dont know , which accent i should start ? , Weather American or british .. i know english but not native speaker .. i know simple daily used english.. but i can not speak due to lack of confidance .. I m new to ur channel .. i think ur videos will help me .. , marina , i love ir smile ..
Venya speaks English with no detectable foreign accent. You also mentioned that he perfected this before ever coming to America. Why would this be? This is unusual. How was he able to do this? Was it his teachers or is it a natural quality he has of some sort? Anyway, it's amazing!
When I'm talking with myself I'm completely able specially whenever I speak in my head because I can remember the words so through these things I become delighted but when I'm starting English with someone else I just forget the words even though I communicate with them but with fear and overthinking and I say to myself that (This concepts overwhelm me) so I'm gonna try what you claimed Inshallah it turns my English into the American person.
I found it different learning English by watching TV shows without subtitles though I understand 95% of this video. I think partially because TV guys sometimes just don't pronounce words clearly. The discovery channel, BBC Earth etc. much easier to understand.
I want to improve my english as best as i can. I am thinking about a year in america or england so I can talk a lot with locals there. I like your videos a lot, thank you for the effort you put in every video. Greetings from germany Ralle
Hello guys, I´m a Costa Rican who is learning English, it´d be amazing if you make a pronunciation Video or "Class", you have to know that you are a really big help for a lot of people, Thanks.
Really got hooked ... - um, on with these advices :). Actually I've been familiar with many of them but ain't that gifted like Yenya is. Like probably the most of us have to put much more effort into reaching the level than he did. Anyway, would like to see more clips of you both, you make a great team.
Hi, guys! I watch this channel because the learning of the language is interseting and chilling-way, not booring and complicated, and i understand all what they are talking about... Can you please recommend some other channels or bloggers like this? Thank you! (sorry if i did any mistakes, i'm just beginner level... You can also correct me if i did so... im also practicing writning, texting english comments here)
Some people say that if you haven't any partner for speaking, you can be able to improve yourself speaking skills through writing. ı wonder what do you think about it ? Maybe you prepare one video about this topic. By the way ı really like watching your lessons, with love from turkey .
Марина, сделайте видео про произношение, очень жду! Я смотрела совместное ваше и Вени видео про произношение, очень полезное видео, но не все звуки разобрали, в частности звук :3 и r, пожалуйста, снимите видео было бы очень интересно послушать о том как правильно произносить эти звуки, как правильно ставить язык и и какие мышцы задействованы. Было бы очень интересно послушать с точки зрения русскоговорящих людей. Спасибо заранее 😊
I don't know what to say. I love to see marinas video. But today I can't focus on my learning language. My whole concentration on the guest. How sweet he is! Ops sorry how adorable his accent is 😛
Assimilation and accommodation of the schema of grammatical rules!!! You don't get the rule, but then bam animal instinct you get it and categorize the rule. Yay to phrasal verbs and idioms!!!!
@@jeka13443 That's like an informal or vulgar way to say or refers to having sex with someone who is not really important. It really sounded weird, that's why the guy had that expression haha
The best video! The best tips! I'm really hooked on your videos Marina! I started to learn English about 5 months ago and your videos about everything are helping me a lot! I'm your huge fan and I "met" you yesterday! I'm talking about you to everyone! I'm from Brazil! I'm a dental surgeon in my country and I want to study in North America one day
I, a native english speaker: "what the hell is a phrasal verb?!" watching videos like this is interesting because they go over things that I don't even think about. Like, for example, the "two" alphabets and I was like "whaaat??? 😲" then it was just the phonetic alphabet. I died 😂😂 duh!
As long as you speak English clearly and precisely , you are good. No need to imitate the American way or accent. That is not going to make you smarter.
