I serve both forehand and backhand as per your guidance and have improved tremendously in my play. Though I'm 71 years of age, I give a tough fight to the younger players. I'm from South India and enjoy thoroughly your coaching. Thanks.
Thank you Michael! I am so happy to hear you practice and play at 71 yrs young! We should have more players like you. I can just imagine you outsmarting those younger players 😉 keep enjoying badminton!! 😁🏸

Good lesson to learn!! Thanks In men singles why we need serve low instead of high serve!! Will you pls explain what are pros and cons of low serve in men singles!! Now am doing high serve on third line..will it make any big difference on game specially in singles?
For singles the game is evolving. Back in the earlier days when the old scoring was being used majority of serves for singles are high and way back so you can get into position immediately but these days it depends on the type of opponent you have and what your weak and strong points are... will do my best to discuss on this matter in future videos. Thanks! 😁🏸
Hi mam,my self Luns from india.I use to play badminton daily just as a part of my exercise.i haven't gone for any coaching camps,I use to watch online vedios and rectify my faults.Your vedios seems to be simple and power full. Please kindly make a vedio on doubles service return, both high and low serves
Many thanks for the useful tips and techniques. I used to serve forehand but recently I have been practising my backhand serve and also use this sometimes. What is the advantage of the backhand serve as opposed to the forehand? l have tried to practice the backhand spin serve like Kevin Sanjaya but no luck as yet, just for fun. Thanks for your time.
In my opinion, a forehand serve is best used for singles while the backhand serve is used more in doubles. However, it depends on which you feel more comfortable to do. I personally like forehand serves that i use it even when i play doubles. But for forehand & backhand serves, you really need to find time as often as you can to master and perfect it. No harm in practicing Kevin Sanjaya’s serve if thats what u fancy. Watch him a lot, sometimes our subconscious mind absorbs the technique, you might be surprised how you can suddenly do it... It’s a pleasure sharing what I know... and thank you too! 🏸🏸
Coach , I have recently been called out for serving foul .. all I do I slice the shuttle. is this illegal ? And does the racket facing up also disallowed ? Love your videos . ♥️
If you get called you have the right to ask why you’re being called fault... i dont think they called you out bec of the slice... did they have the service fault detection device?
Really important question in doubles. If I am the receiver and the server does a WIDE LOW serve? What is the best response? And what grip do I use? By default as a receiver I ready with a backhand grip (for 75% CENTER LOW serve). I was thinking straight block/push with forehand? I often find myself lifting often when WIDE LOW serve comes and it puts us in an awkward position. Any tips?
I would guess your opponent does the wide low serve to you because yoour racket position is very obvious, I would position my racket more neutral if your opponent does that wide short serve often... also try and anticipate it. Yes you are right a straight return from that serve will be good and faster but then again that also depends how your opponent is positioned. If they’re leaning to returning a straight return you can still do it but have variety with it. Avoid lifting as you mentioned you do, try to make a good counter/net shot or mid court shot but not lifting as much as you can... let me know how it works for you. Thanks! 😁🏸
The movement of your racket will be the same except that your left handed. When you look at the position of legs then yours will be the opposite of a right handed one😁🏸
As a player, i never really was conscious on diet which i wish i was. But when tournaments would come, I watch what i eat only because i dont want to have a hard time moving around on court and i wont try anything new when competing. If you are asking currently what my diet is, i just try to eat more fruits and vegetables because i also love eating meat. I do my best to eat in moderation…😁🏸
Coach when we are doing forehand service we keeping opposite leg front... But back hand service not like that.. He keeping his same leg front... It's a rule..I'm I right???
Coach iam sudharsan from India I play badminton last 4 to 5 years now I play intermediate level.. Hw can I move to advance level play... Please help to improve my game
Set a goal as to who you want to beat. In any group that we have set a target and do your best to beat that player. In that way you slowly work your way up to an advanced level😁🏸
Sa doubles service foot stance...will it matter kung left foot first, right foot first or feet side by side (for right handed)? Will these prepare me for the return of service by the opponent? Tip toe service? is it an advantage? Ive seen some do it? But dont know the real purpose?
You are right for noticing that there are players with their right foot slightly forward or could be their left foot or some may have both feet in line... try and see which one is better for you because it all boils down to what feels comfortable for you. Make sure after you execute the serve you can immediately move to your next position. Same with the tip toe... some just want to do it that way but it doesnt necessarily add up to an advanatage or a disadvantage. Look for what works for you! 😁🏸
I HAVE A QUESTION COACH FOR SERVE🏸🏸🏸🏸 ❓❓❓❓❓ AM PAANO PO KUNG ANG KALABAN KO PO AY GUMAMIT NG FOREHAND SERVE ???? KAILANGAN DIN BA NA PAREHAS DIN ANG PAG-SERVE NG SAME FOREHAND SERVE❓❓❓❓❓ KASI BACKHAND SERVE ANG GINAGAMIT NI JONATHAN SA SERVICE 🏸🏸 VS 🏸🏸 & 🏸 VS 🏸
Hi Ronald! You will notice some people have both legs parallel in the same line while others would have their right foot or left slightly in front, its about whats comfortable with you. Use the position that is comfortable for you and that you can easily move to the next shot... 😁🏸
Take time to practice even just for 5 min everytime before you play. Getting the serve perfectly right really comes from lots & lots of practice time. Even elite players make time for it. It’s the only way ... once you get that right feel and angle of the racket, it will just keep getting better😁🏸
Hey ! Coach Plz guide on selection of Badminton racket ! As various brand are available in market ! Like beginner level and level above it ! I had chosen Yonex Carbonex 8000 is it ok then nanoray or muscle pull types racket ?
Hi Ankur Sood! Rackets like many other things are personal preference. For rackets i like to feel them by swinging them a bit and see if you like the feel. I would always prefer a light weight racket only because i like them light but for others like my brother, he likes them heavy because it gives an extra push/strength on the smash... but i think Yonex Carbonex 8000 is a good choice! 👍🏸🏸 Enjoy!!
