Stare is also the second part of the verb to be. Like in spanish, there are two separate verbs for to be: ser (essere) and estar (stare).

could someone explain why the word would change and if it's depending on the sentence and how I would change the verb please. I am heavily confused on verbs.
@Ori0987
@Ori0987 7 лет назад
Phantombutter Because when speaking a Romance language, for example Spanish and Italian we conjugate the words in order to fit the person. Some are "Stem-changing" or irregular verbs (I think they are called) where we change the word almost entirely to fit with the person, but it doesn't not follow regular conjugation rules. For example: The verb "Essere" is an irregular stem changing verb because in the "Io" form we change the word to "Sono." In the "Tu" form we change the word to "Sei". Don't stress too much over it. It's really just a matter of remembering which words are irregular and which words have standard conjugation. Btw I don't know if that's what you needed me to explain but if it's not then please specify.

i am going to lose my mind with the italians verbs beacause my first language is spanish and they look exactly the same but the meaning is another story. for example the most confusing one for me is sentire (to hear) = sentir (to feel) and others like guardare (to look) = guardar (to save), etc.. Fortunately the same happens in the opposite :).
@TheZpan
@TheZpan 7 лет назад
sometimes we use Sentire as feeling as well! For example "mi sento male". I feel sick

I'm Spanish too but I haven't realised about those because I speak Valenciano so "sentir" in italian is "sentir" in valenciano too. Italian resembles Spanish a lot, but I feel it is even more similar to Valenciano/Catalan/Mallorquí.

Very helpful. I made a written study guide that I can use to review. Maybe I'll post it. // A construct that you used that we (in American English) don't use was with trovare. You placed "find" in time, like, I can't find my passport ANY MORE or, I can't find my passport AGAIN. We would just say, I can't find my passport. Maybe that's another lesson. We want to speak Italian like the Italians! : - ) Grazie mille.

1:49 passarmi is the meaning of 'pass' in italian? I can not find that words in the dictionary TT 'passarsi' is the original?
@italianpod101
@italianpod101 5 лет назад
Hi 미네랄 The infinitive form is "passare" (to pass). The "mi" you see attached is the pronoun that means "(to) me". When the pronoun is used after the infinitive, you need to drop the final vowel of the verb and attach the pronoun. PASSARE+MI = PASSARMI Hope this makes sense! Sincerely, Valentina Team ItalianPod101.com
