Have you ever wanted to learn to make your own 3D models? Do you think the software is too complicated and scary? Well, this tutorial is meant to bash your way through the learning curve of one of the most complex 3D softwares around: 3ds MAX! It's surprisingly simple, once you get the hang of it!
After this tutorial, you'll gain the foundation you'll need to 3D model just about anything. Many 3D artists around the globe earn a living by creating 3D models for games, movies, architecture and product renderings, and more! So it's a great skill to have, even if you want to experiment and make your own 3D art to share with your friends on Instagram ;)
If you haven't done so, check out the "3ds Max Beginner Crash Course" video here:
• 3DS MAX TUTORIAL: Begi...
I'll continue this beginner series with a video on basic render setup for lighting, texturing, and cameras. Also, we will take a deep dive into rigging and animation techniques in future videos to come.
Here's a link to download the 3ds Max file from this tutorial:

I must say your tutorials are the best ones for actually understanding how 3ds max works as a complete beginner and you explain it in a way that it actually makes sense! Thank you so much for creating this content and putting effort into it! Most of the other ones explain it just in a way if u follow certain steps - u get this result, without actually explaining the core of the steps/process. With your tutorials you actually learn how to use the tools, rather than how to do certain product/get certain result. Once again, thanks a lot, you saved my day! (or more of a one-month project :D) Looking forward to more 3dsmax tutorials!

Been working with Max as an exhibition designer for about 7 years now and I still picked up a few little tricks from this video, so thanks for that. Never had the time to model a chair (we download them for time saving purposes), but it was interesting to see the process. Will come in handy at some point I’m sure. Great video!

@simulation_lab
@simulation_lab 3 года назад
@@alexas8787 Many people in the industry use C4D and Houdini, Blender is definitely becoming a contender. Max is still very common in the VFX and ArchViz industries, and with the addition of TyFlow, it's become even more powerful. In my opinion, most of these software do similar things, and it's up to you to decide which is most intuitive, etc.

Your basic and crash tutorials are one of the BEST on YT Man! Period! I'd like so much something like that about the Material Editor (covering UV mapping, shaders, diplacement, bump... etc) and something about the render settings (wich one use... drivers setting... hardware and the relation between the renderer and some special materials). Whit your teaching approach... i know i'll can understand the easy way all the potential of those tools.
@simulation_lab
@simulation_lab 3 года назад
Thanks for your feedback! I've made a new tutorial which focuses on materials! It's pretty rudimentary, but I walk through creating all sorts of different materials, render settings, etc. I'm uploading it tonight!
@Guttalaser

@@simulation_lab "rudimentary" is the key-word Man! I'm an old T-Rex using 3d modeler just for my fun (and maybe for 3d printing in a near future... just watchin now!). I started with the old DOS 3D Studio and in the time many and many features and tools (one time as $$$ plugins) are now tools and sub-tools inside the progz! But while the power of the prog is now top-notch... the deductivity of the GUI is about ZERO! Also some tools names are counter-deductive end even the things they do are far from what one can imagine (apologize for my crap english man... i'm italian... ya know... italians do other things "better"... but not speaking english! ;-) ). So... that said... your tutarial approach ("rudimentary" as you say) tame down the overstratificated complexity of the GUI... making the progz usable again even for the not professionals! So tnx so much Man for sharing your time, knowledge and kindness!
@Guttalaser
@Guttalaser 3 года назад
PS... and btw... the charming humor of your beautiful GF... (when she enter "in camera" and say "hallo!")... add that touch to the all thing! ;o))

@simulation_lab

I agree! Once you learn 3ds Max, it's easy to recognize similar tools in other 3D software. 3ds Max has most of the same tools as Blender and Cinema 4D, even Houdini. You'd just have to learn the UI of those softwares, how to access/use the tools in those softwares, and you're good to go!
