Right, this track is a demo of a bunch of stuff I've just started filming as under 1 minute lessons for Instagram. Somehow haven't noticed the zero fret before, still puzzled why this is not a more common feature.

yeah, I like it on these basses a lot. I was never aware of missing it on any previous bass, but I like how it sounds here :)

it's a lil' side chain in the MOD DuoX with a delay, envelope filter reverb and chorus :)

Hey Steve! Been wanting to get into the 6 or 5 with a high c. I noticed your thumb technique never seems to rest or anchor. Is this common to have a floating thumb?

yup! It's very common. I've seen some people who anchor their picking hand on the pickup while playing 6, but it looks spectacularly uncomfortable, and is certainly inefficient (though there are people who make it sound amazing ;) ) - I'll add this to the list for the Insta-series and talk about floating thumb and some of the things it makes possible!
