Slowing down really felt like the easiest thing in my opinion. Hitting walls, trees and the ground made it stop reliably!

I think this was a good idea to have students learn to slowly control the quad in ACRO mode vs learning Horizon or Angle first and then struggling to transition to ACRO later.

I learnt on Avata and Dji Fpv, so always just switched into normal mode to land. This means that now I’m on my iflight quad, I can take off and fly about happily, but landing is a whole different story. I just have to get near my general location and disarm n hope for the best. There’s no need to’land’ in liftoff either so any tutorials on landing back on the launch pad will be really helpful and really needed.

Do you have your sticks springloaded for the landing process in N mode?

I've owned an FPV literally a week and got put onto your videos after speaking to some people in liftoff, all of the information you have provided has been so very helpful. Once the funds allow i cant wait to follow one of the builds. Thanks for all you do!

@serenestateofbeing1062 still dji fpv, blew it into a wood post and had it repaired. I fly much better now but still crave something more agile.

@@stevo11811 you're a brave man lol I call the dji fpv drone the egg shell, the avata 2 still seems pretty fragile but nothing compared to the actual dji fpv drone. You can always get a high quality fpv drone like the nazgul evoke or whatever it is. I personally find the most joy building the drones. Going out and flying something you built with your own hands is such a rewarding feeling, plus you save at least 200 on each drone

@stevo11811 5 дней назад
@@serenestateofbeing1062 oh yeah agreed haha. i'll probably wait for black friday. My only concern with the avata would be very tight high speed corners which i tend to do on trails.

Thankyou your videos got me hooked on fpv I'm a full beginner starting only 3 days ago after receiving my tx16s max Joshua Bardwell edition ELRS I'm currently practicing on DRL and loving every minute of it the feeling I cannot explain but I cannot wait to fly in real life but all in good time its handy having unlimited drones 😂

Thank you for doing this series. I have been flying my DJI FPV in manual without learning like this and had a few almost heart attacks. I have never felt comfortable enough to fly it lower and slow it down til now. Looking forward to trying it when the weather improves and I spent more time learning with this series 😃👍🏼

Just learning M mode, and thanks for this video series. I got Liftoff and have started watching the videos. Do you recommend setting the left control stick loose, as in not having auto center on this stick. I have a DJI Avata, and planning on doing some inside buildings work at a construction site.

Complete noob here. Just built my 1st quad, im super proud of the build. Im Having trouble with flashing and getting my radio to a actually communicate with the FC. I've accepted, I am in way over my head and will be going to my local drone shop to get it all set up. In the meantime, I am absorbing all of your practical lessons. Thank you kindly.

You need a binding phrase. Its been a while so I'm sure you've figured it out already. No need to flash the controller. Just use the wifi method to put your binding phrase and that's it

Hello, Mr Joshua, i read the lessons 1-3, and I tried it , that has a situation make me cant not do the exercise like yours. When the drone leaves the ground,and it always goes left. i added the dead zone(0.3) both in the roll n yow, it fixes a litte, but stll happens . Some of blueprint fleet will go back, most will go left, in the neutral position. Pls tell me some suggestions, (my simulator version isn’t the newest. ) thank you your sharing. You made very good videos for the beginners

Hey!!! I found out that Lift Off Arena is a really good map to practice slow flying, it has an open arena and some really close and tight places to fly around, its been really helpful to fly on this map. "Minus Two" is tight too but not having some open places its too tight. in the Arena you can go through stairs and from one level to the other is really fun!

As a helicopter pilot I will tell you that drifting back can be deadly as the rear skids may “dig” into the ground and a flip over occurs! It seems the same theory applies to a quad…..If you are drifting back the pitch would be nose high and the rear motor arms may hit and dig and cause fairly severe damage! Just a thought!

We have talked a while back before. I'm new to the hobby and know nothing. bought a emax hawk sport with a jumper t16 and goggles all set up for my first fpv. It's way too fast and definitely in acro. I don't know what my switches do besides the arm and beeper. I don't own a computer so can I use the speedy bee app for android to figure out my switches and set up a safer flight mode??? Definitely a hazard if I fly it like this😢.some could definitely get hurt. It's on 6s so I'm going to try 4s to tame the speed Down but I definitely can't fly in acro yet.

Practice. Practice. Practice. Learn to fly fast with the Goldberg 1" drone. Accurate smooth flight is necessary to get to the top of that leaderboard. Learn to handle the momentum of the DRL4 racer. REPLAY the lines the fast guys fly on the leaderboards. Work out, or learn, how flying at high pitch angles changes the way your RC inputs control the drone. RSC MODE-HA @ DRL Sim

Might have been cool if you could’ve shown how to slow down more abruptly not to a full stop but just loosing more speed quicker. Anyways nice video 👍 I’m currently teaching fpv to a few smaller children and I am definitely gonna recommend them that they watch this vid series
@feelfreefpv
@feelfreefpv 6 месяцев назад
It's just the same principle, put thrust in the direction you move, but faster. Keeping the inputs small and slow is more important in the beginning.
@JoshuaBardwell
@JoshuaBardwell 6 месяцев назад
In the beginning i like to encourage people not to make abrupt moves. The problem many beginners struggle with is making moves that are too big and too abrupt and they lose control. I try to encourage them to slow down and make small moves and stay in control. Big, fast moves can come later.

Non-video-relevant comment coming up. I decided in my childlike enthusiastic mindset to fly an acro quad to the top of a local mountain. Having fitted a longer range antenna, i felt it would be fine. -it wasnt. I ended up having to take an entire day off from work to go climb a literal mountain to retrieve a non-gps drone. Luckily i recorded the flight and could guesstimate the drop location and 12 km later, 5,5 hours and 829 height meters i ended up seeing what i flew up to see and vrought home my drone. Some lesson learned probably.

Wouldn't it be helpful if there was an "emergency stop" function? I'm just saying...

Dji avata has it I think. Most fpv drones have gps to do an emergency stop, so if you want that feature, go with dji
