Excellent video as usual. For those who did not catch it on you Bf 109 G6 video: Remember what I told you I thought the problem was from your video - turned out that or those were not the issues with my taking off after all, as the problem persisted. What I remembered seeing was: you were not pushing the nose down as you would with the 190 or this plane 5FN. As soon as I stopped doing that, the G6 lifted off with no problems. So if anyone is still having issues, try not pushing the nose down as you would on some other planes. It worked for me. And again, I would not have worked that issue out if it was not for your invaluable instruction videos. Thank you!

Thanks Michael, just some extra stuff for your information: With any of the Bf 109s I still recommend to lower the nose on the takeoff roll, but just remember that you need to add extra rudder to counteract the gyroscopic precession that will create a stronger yaw motion to the left if you do so. In the Fw 190 you can either lower the nose on takeoff as shown with my Fw 190 A-3 video or not lower it at all and takeoff in the 3 point position as shown with my Fw 190 A-5 video.

Yes, that was another issue: I was not adding enough right rudder. Thanks for reminding me. :)

nice landings as usual.
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 6 лет назад
Cheers Math, I like to only use landings I think are good enough. Before the developers fixed the gear suspension issue it took a LOT of attempts because the airplanes bounced so much upon touchdown. Now that the landing behaviour is more realistic it doesn't take much time at all to get a good landing for a demo.

Thanks for the video. Your work greatly replace the lack of an updated, complete manual. I think that at 2:45 should be indicated "stage 1" instead of 2 for boost (and since I'm pedantic, should be more correct refer to that as "speed"). About the boost, I would be grateful if you could explain to me how boost is enabled/disabled in this variant - I can't find the relevant knob as in La-5 (that's to say the command LShift+B doesn't work for me🙁)
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL Год назад
To engage boost in the FN, just increase manifold pressure past 1180mmHG when in the 1st supercharger gear.

Can you adjust the gunsight ? I noticed an adjustment dial located left of it , does it work ?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 4 года назад
No these are fixed reflector sights in the USSR airplanes so they're not adjustable.

Max rpm at landing? Is it right?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 6 лет назад
Yeah you should always have max RPM for landing so you can get the maximum power in the event of a go around.
@icterio1
@icterio1 6 лет назад
I've never play this game, only the first version of "Il-2 Sturmovik". But with max rpm the speed will not rise too much? Or exceed the landing gear limit?
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 6 лет назад
No in both cases, because even if you set max RPM your airspeed will be controlled based on how much throttle (manifold pressure) you are using and what the pitch attitude of the airplane is (if it's climbing, descending, or level). In the new IL-2 series these airplanes are modeled with either a Constant Speed Propeller or optional Variable Pitch Propeller. A Constant Speed Propeller system will attempt to maintain the RPM you set, but once you get below a certain airspeed your RPM will start falling anyway. I have a video explaining how this stuff works in this playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLnyigzFtHeNq7NoAEMS9KSnQcTd7LOsAC

Yes, I'll check those videos. Maybe I'am confusing rpm and throttle settings.

Is the La-5FN compatible with IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad ? I love this plane but idk if its compatible with that game
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 3 года назад
I don't think you can fly that version in the Stalingrad campaign

is this necessary? like really? this thing is so easy to fly that a baby could do it. Clearly you have experience and you can fly it really well, but the point is, do ppl really need this? I mean this is not a fucking Harrier or F-18 ppl, this is the easiest plane to fly in the easiest "simulator" on the market. Easier then this and you go to War-thunder Arcade. I ended up here by mistake, and if there are not 500 others like me, I am scared to ask how are the ppl in this game.
@RequiemsACTL
@RequiemsACTL 6 лет назад
Mititelu Radu Nope. Of course none of it is necessary as it's just a simulator with all the limitations it brings. In front of a computer we are all just "1G comfy chair fighter pilots." You can just smash the throttle forward and take off without a runway in any airplane and do the other stuff in the air. I aim to approach these airplane familiarisations from my perspective as a flight instructor / airline pilot and not just as a gamer. So I model these procedures based on the actual flight manuals when I have them available otherwise I'll just use a generic procedure consistent with how you would fly in RL. Plenty of people just want to see a take off, approach to landing, or know the airspeeds for rotating/approach while others want to know as much as possible. I just provide the info in a consistent way regardless of the airplane's difficulty so you can pick and choose what you want to watch.
