Thank you for making this video and breaking it down. I’m a music producer, but a beginner guitarist. I realized that most of the chord progressions and melodies I hear in my head, are played by a guitar or harp. I decided to stop making beats and focus on training my hands to play what I hear in my mind. Your teaching style and content is helping me. Peace and blessings to you and your family.

How do you strum(the progression chord in the background) are you picking each string?

It’s an alternating pattern. I’m picking the notes of the 1st chord, one at a time and then strumming the next chord all at once. Picking the notes of chord 3, one at a time and then strumming chord 4 all at once. Rinse and repeat.

Over wich Chord do you Play the Licks? Does it fit the 4 2 3 and 6 Chord? Great Lick btw

These licks should work over most if not all of the chords in the progression. You can play with the timing and articulation to make them fit over different sections of the loop.

@@TizoGuitarThanks for the Awnser! I will use my ear to find out Where it fits the Best. But if you want to Support... You only play the lick over those minor chords. Does it fit a major chord. Do you Start on a special chord Tone, or Just taking care of the key itself?

@@kb8582 In this particular, I’m not paying much attention to starting licks on specific chord tones but that is another great way to go about soloing. You could try modifying these licks to start/end on the 3rd or 7th of each chord to really highlight the changes, but I find that starts to sound more like jazz than R&B.

Hi 👋🏾 The progression plays a big part because that’s the context and context can change how a lick comes across. To me an R&B lick is one that uses notes and phrases that an R&B singer would use over an appropriate chord progression. You could totally look at them like smooth jazz licks or just plain pentatonic licks and you would be correct as well.
