Corrections:
7:57 Lizards can only discard one card per suit per turn to score points.
14:36 The Riverfolk treat rivers like paths, but they can leave clearings via a river regardless of the clearing's ruler.

Thank you very much, I just got the full Kickstarter package and nearly surrender to the rule book, but now everything is good after watching 2 tutorial video of Root from your channel!! I am waiting for Underworld expansion, please make it in near future :D

Thanks, I'm glad I could help! I rely on my Patreon backers to tell me what to teach next, though if Leder Games wanted to commission a video from me on the new expansion I would gladly do it. Who knows, if enough fans asked them for something like that, maybe it would happen.

Totally agree, a lot of rules regarding what they can and can’t do, that have taken me 4 or 5 Digital games to memorize (probably would be 2 or 3 on the board), but so intriguing.

7:30 If I only have 1 Bird Card (Brutal Tactics) in my hand, A. Can I revealed this card (revaled a same card) 4 times and place 4 warriors in the Acolyte Box?? Or B. We are only allowed to do one ritual per one card (cannot use the same card unless we have two of the same card) ??

Good question! When you reveal a card you have to show it and then leave it out of your hand until the end of the round, meaning that you can only perform one ritual per card revealed.

So do you still place the ruins even if there is no vagabond in play? For example lets say me and two friends are playing and no one chooses to play the vagabond.

You always place the ruins, regardless of whether you have a Vagabond or not. If you don't have a Vagabond, those ruins will stay there the entire game and just block the extra clearings.

So whoever is left of the otter always has first dibs on the cards for sale? Isnt that quite an advantage

A bit, yes, but everyone should keep in mind that the otters are not neutral. Anyone buying cards is helping them out, so they aren't always going to sell. But yes, there is a slight advantage in that respect.

Wait so you can only spend funds in a clearing if you have funds from the clearing owner? So how did we build a trade post in that clearing with a kitty cat in it at 13:41? Is the assumption there that the funds spent were 2 cats? That seems very restrictive, no?

That's correct. And yeah, I didn't want to cut back to the player board to show each time you spent funds since I was describing it pretty quickly. It is a bit restrictive, but that helps encourage you to create positive relationships with the other players.

Does that mean that lizards can't just pop up anywhere when taking the recruit action (except the keep ofc) or do they need to also be in a clearing they have garden in or something?

Lizards can recruit just about anywhere, you don't need to place them in garden spaces.

And also I have questions for the Riverfolk Company: 1. Do otters move only on the river Clearings? 2. If otters move on the river, do they still have to move from/to Clearing they rule? 3. Let's say a player buys Riverboats and has to make 2 moves to get to a Clearing they want. But the first Clearing on the move is not ruled by them. Can they still pass through it, or they can't move at all?

Otters can use paths as well as rivers, but when using a river, they can ignore who rules the clearing. However when another player buys riverboats, they still have to follow the rules about ruling clearings, so in your example they would only be able to move to the 1st clearing if they ruled the clearing they left from, and from there could only move to another clearing they rule.

Hey, thanks for the video. I played the riverfolk company for the first time yesterday and had a hard time with the French rules. Nobody in my group already played them so I got some things wrong. I find it pretty hard to know when to place the warriors in the investment, payment or outside the board. Is there some recap somewhere?

Well, the player board does a pretty good job of telling your where the pieces go in every situation, though I guess that would be difficult to use if the components are in a different language...I'm afraid I don't know of any other player aids

What about the winter map? I heard that the river is frozen and everyone can use river as path, so what about riverfolk ability?

The frozen river thing is, unfortunately, not how that map works. It is still considered a normal river even on the winter map.

When I hire otters, can they still treat rivers as paths?

Hiring otters doesn't allow you to move them at all, so the swimmer ability doesn't come into play.

seems impossible to keep track of all going on with 6 players... don’t know if i like that or not :) i just can imagine a lot of sudden “ok, i’ve won” moments for any random player and then all others are sad.

RTFM well... hard to tell actually :D let’s say i am not certain if i liked it or not. it was the expected nobody know anythin about other... but ok it was also the first time we included the expansion characters. we are usually the type of group playing vigorously against each other but as soon as someone seems to win everybody is bashing him. at the end the cat player used a dominance card dor the three clearing he already had moved all its cats on them and it was impossible for us to prevent the victory. so... almost like i said; suddenly one just won. the only thing different is that it wasn’t the fault of the factions bht of the dominance cards. :D still not sure if that was a blessing or a curse... we were already playing 2 and a half hours and it somewhat got annyoijg anyway... :D maaan! am i loving this game or not?

Hi everyone... 🫂 I bought Root base game but unfortunately there are not expansions in our country.I found hardly only Marauder Expansion.And very expensive.So my question is: Dear friends ,is it worth to buy Marauder for especially 2 players? I must know before.Because it is very expensive.And I'll not be able to buy anything else for Root.No exiles and Partisans deck and no other expansions.Only Marauder can buy.(if you recommend of course).Is it worth? If you like Root at two players already, I think Marauder is a great expansion. The two factions work well when played against each other, so I'd probably recommend it over any of the others.

I did one bad trade with the riverfolk as the woodland alliance and I feel like I threw the game. basically if you play woodland alliance its really not worth doing any trades with them unless its less than 3 meeples cost.

I played Riverfolk once. Nobody really traded with me. I set the prices the lowest all the time. I couldn't do much in the whole game.

Well that sucks. To be honest, I'm not very good at convincing people to buy my wares either. Lord of the Board has a good series of strategy videos for each faction. Maybe their otters video could help if you ever decide to give them another try.

What happens when you destroy the keep?

You get a point for destroying a token and the cats won't have a keep for the rest of the game, so they won't benefit from any keep-related abilities.

Its little bit too fast. If I havent already known the rules I would be lost. And the rule in the game for beaver, that you can offer something for one token and you dont get the basic two token at dawn - its pretty rough for them. It means you dont do anything in that turn, if you only get one token.

@@DylanWOWilliams Poverty has been going up in every nation except China. Without China, the claim that world poverty is being increased is false. Additionally, self-checking by competition is an idealist notion at best.
