Learn to Play: Zoo Tycoon The Board Game 

Thanks for making this video. I picked up the game at Kickstarter and plan to give it to the family at Christmas. Some early reviews poo-pooed the game, and the rulebook. But after watching the video in segments and reading the rulebook online, I’ve gotten a good feel for the game and Im excited to play it with my kids.

The player gets to determine what terrain the tile has each time they place it in the zoo, right? So it doesn't matter that player X has a lot of savannah tiles. Right? I'm a little confused about that.

Great video. Are you planning to do a full gameplay of this board game? I would love it.

I got a little confused when placing buildings. First question: can you place more than one education/conservation focal points to count those points more than once off of the species card? Second question: when placing shops, the first building needs to be adjacent to 2 enclosures of the same biome. But placing a second shop needs to be next to 3 biomes? I have one question: 6 enclosure tiles taken on the beginning of the game are taken randomly or by choice for each player?

Good video , something just seems bit strange to me that’s even the game is very long it’s hard to get a lot of animals in different bioms. Since a tile costs 7 how is is possible to fill the board ? Or am I to ambitious and maby it’s better to focus on 1 or 2 different biomes only.

In your 1st turn example, you did the arrival then did the entirety of Autumn. The rule book states that after arrival you move directly to the Build phase. I took that to mean that you skip the other autumn stuff (free tiles, conservation and donor steps).

I don't understand the running costs mechanisms as technically couldn't you make a huge enclosure and just put them all in one tile so you pay the lowest possible cost whilst having enough room for their happiness? Or is there a benefit to having them spread out

Confussed with the Racoon enclosure. You put a cube on the 0 track for free tile but dont you have 1 free tile? The bottom right tile is free.

thank you for making this video it explained a lot, but one thing you did not mention was the availability of animals! what happens if you want to convert your baby animals into adults but there are no actual meeples left? the same goes if we want to get an animal from the market, the market board says the animal is available but there are no actual meeples left for that animal ... do we use a cube instead ??? or is this limited .. if so how do we get a high number with some of this animals to achieve top happiness when there are no enough meeples! thank you

I'm confused why you said you couldn't add the tigers because you hadnt finished the enclosure. It looks like, based on the tiger's requirements, that you could have added 1 of the tigers to that enclosure. Did you purposely choose not to add any (to avoid the cost), or do players have to add all quarantined animals at the same time?

Hi , we just had a game and came across something that was not clear, If at the start of the game, a player takes 3rd level species even though he can't take another species with his 2nd trade action can he use a worker at the starting phase to get another species? it seems that if he can then this limitation is pointless cause the first worker is free anyway and not much you can do else with them in the first round... the last page of the rule book says the player can't have a second species ... but using a worker will still get him 2nd species... so it's confusing and contradictory ... can you explain if a worker action to get 2nd Species in starting round is allowed? also when checking the Conservation leading player in Autumn, the Rule book says: Another free Enclosure Tile is given to the player currently leading in the Conservation Track and also to all players who are in the same segment (e.g., 7-10) as that player. Players who are on the first 3 white starting spaces (0-2) do not receive a free tile! what does that mean ? if players are in the same segment as the player that received the title they can't be possible as well in the starting location, unless the rulebook really means any player that still has a cube in a starting location of any of 3 scoring tracks including popularity and education??? is that so???

In the second player example, I see that the Zebras enclosure is next to the ostrich enclosure, is that a legal move? I thought you need to have them separated withouth touching

Why do the raccoons not have a free space? It seems like they would…

Can you place shops of multiple bioms so like one forrest one and one savannah one or are you locked into the type you have chosen?

You've got to slow down when you talk. You have a bit of slurred speech in front of the camera, slowing down will have a significant impact on your audience's ability to learn from you. Also, it's OK to do a second take if you stutter or flub a line. You've got a talent to teach, and I want to see you improve to be one of the greats. Keep it up.

Thanks for the video! I don't think the theme really works for me, it's not that interesting. And 2 to 3 hours long? Nope!
