So easy to learn. I prefer charts over written instructions.

Wow, Jane your videos are SO incredibly helpful, and aesthetically beautiful to boot! I'm so thankful I found your channel, it's re-invigorated my passion for crochet, specifically crochet with lots of color changes. Thank you so much for these resources that you're making available to us, you have a very compelling cadence in the way you talk, and you explain complicated crochet techniques in ways that makes them feel simple. I wish I had found your channel years ago! Definitely recommending you to my crafty friends, the level of detail and care you put into your work deserves more attention!

I haven’t watched any of the video yet. But hey girl! I’ve wanted to learn to read a chart for years!!! All that wonderful crochet, but I couldn’t have any part of it because of the pattern being written in symbols.😢 No more! I trust you. I’m subscribed and I’ll watch this video and be ON MY WAAAAYYYY. Whoo hoo! Thank you so much.

50+ years ago there was a German magazine called”ANNA”. It had beautiful crochet patterns but only with these diagrams. I was 30 years old then and knew the basics of crochet. But the diagrams had no English explanation and I eventually gave up trying to figure them out. Wish you’d been around then ! Lol

I Remember that magazine! 😆 it did have gorgeous patterns. I think I picked up a few issues when I was working in the City, hard to find. And I remember it was all charts and no English. That might have been when I started deciphering them too. I love charts now. It’s my first language lol 🤗

Thank you, thank you!! Trying to read charts are never explained fully UNTIL NOW. Always wanted to use a chart to make an item but the symbols are half explained. Tried to follow other instruction videos but failed. I am so grateful you are not only explaining the symbols but will be making the granny square & using the chart. I think I may be successful in learning with you help. Again, thank you!!

So glad you found this helpful. Symbols can really be intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of them, they are easier than the written, at least that is how I feel lol. I love being able to glance at a chart and just know what is next. Enjoy!

For us south-paws (lefties), just print the pattern in a mirror image. When I first started crocheting, there was no internet. I would hold the pattern book up to a mirror or turn it over up to a light to see it in reverse.

Great Tip. I have actually been trying to teach myself left handed crochet, as I am a leftie in my sports, but a righty in my artwork. I have been trying the mirror technique. Thanks so much for watching.
