If you have a good hand action you will stay down and get that nice impact. Your hands will tell your body what to do.
Online lesson are now a possibility on Skillest: skillest.com/app/profile/marc...
Let me help you get an effortless golfswing with speed and accuracy. I call it the circle of speed. A good release will help you to a better impact and longer drives and irons without slice and hook. How to swing a golf club need to be adjusted to your skill level and experience.
Long and straight is the goal for everyone but it takes time. Try to focus on one thing not everything when you practise. Impact, face control and swingpath will always be the most important part to drill. We focus too much on rotation but no good golf shot will be executed just by rotating.
I’m naturally right handed but all my tips works for both left handed and right handed golfers.
We also need to understand that many myths in golf are misleading. Everything that you find on the internet isn’t true. Ben Hogan, Sam Snead are two of the legends that are often misunderstood.
We shall not keep our head still, only start with the hips, look only at the ball or keep the left or right arm straight.
If you use callaway, ping, titleist or taylor made clubs doesn’t matter you can learn to hit good golf shots. Your loft or your shaft on the club will not change but you can always get better.
Find what inspires you. Golf basics are the same for everyone. The pga tour, longdrivers or other good golfers can all help you find better golf shots. Watch what they do instead of listed to what they say. Listen mostly to your body and figure out what you need to do to produce the same results as the pros on TV. Be careful when you watch a golf swing in slow motion. The result isn't always what the golfer is trying to do. Feel and real are seldom the same.
Mike Malaska, Mike Austin, Mike Dunaway, Pete Cowen and Steve Pratt are some of my favorite golf instructors online. Find the tips that make your golf better. Decide what you want to hit. I teach a draw but many like a fade and nobody likes a hook or slice.
Your hips or your lag is not the key to golf. Your hands will decide the shot and you can do like Tiger Woods and trust your hands. Teach your hands to hit different shots. Hit big hooks and slices to understand what happens. Only straight is not gonna teach you anything.
Bryson Dechambeu and Kyle Birkshire can inspire you to hit it longer. Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson can give you inspiration and motivation to test new things and new golf shots. Linn Grant, Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Aberg can show you the future of golf.
The Masters, Players Championship, The Players, The Open and US Open can make you love golf even more. See the best in the world solve all the problems we all need to master any golf course. Golf is a craft and you need fantasy, feel and skills to master it.

Marcus, I have always been a left side puller and my main swing thought was to pull down with left side. As you may guess, I also have always been a big pull/pull hook kind of guy and now developed a chicken wing as compensation for that and can't get the club face closed. I tried your right side centered swing one day and was like, dang man what the heck. It was awesome. Thanks for the knowledge. Cheers from North Carolina, USA. Now off to practice.

Thanks for another informative video. I have been trying way too long to improve with no lasting success. A friend recommended that I check out your videos and I could not believe how different your instruction was than anything I have ever seen before. My shot shape changed from a fade to a draw in less than 10 minutes into my first practice session. It will take some time but I finally have a potential for improvement, cannot wait to see where I can get to with time. Thank you Marcus.

Great content as always. Marcus, as we see the low point control or timing here varies from club to club, can you speak to your feelings on the path as well. We know it is i'n to out'. Do you feel a difference in how much 'in to out' depending on the club as you just explained with the low point control. Should I 'feel' more i'n to out 'or less i'n to out 'as I move from PW to Driver, or do you 'feel' the path as basically the same ?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
I say it in many videos but maybe it's time to do a video on the subject. I always try to swing a lot out but it's harder to do with a driver and therefore I put in some extra effort when I hit driver. Ball position also restricts path. A ball placed too much forward makes it hard to swing from the inside. When you ask a bout feel, I never have the same feel with a short and a long club. A Pw and Driver are different sports in my brain.

Would you say the approach with a 6i and above is remarkable different. In what way do I adjust whit those in my hands? Perhaps you intended to develop in antoher clip but I'm curious. BTW all your instructions start to fall in place and I'm more aware of what I'm doing. It takes some time to get the 'feel' but I start to understand more of all previous lessons :) Thanks Marcus!

Maybe I have to do a video about that but I don't push down as much with longer irons and other clubs. It's more a push a long the ground than in to the ground.

Another great lesson. On an unrelated topic - do you cup your lead hand wrist at the top of your back swing, or do you try and keep it flat?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
I actually never think about the top. If I circle the club correctly it solves it self. Half way down is another story. Half ways I feel that my lead wrist is close to flat to make it possible to extend/scoop through/after impact.
@tombeach1262
@tombeach1262 5 месяцев назад
Thanks. Tying to keep the wrist flat seemed to restrict the motion. Making progress!

Nice swing thought. Will try it this afternoon on my indoor setup this afternoon. Question: When you push with your palm, when does it start? From the top of the swing or later? Do you push with the same force all the time or is it a maximum somewhere in the swing like when your going down closer to the boll? Would be great to hear how you feel the force. (..."feel the force", heard that one before 😀)
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
I can't tell you exactly when things happen but the idea of what to do start direct at the top. I think it also changes a bit depending on how low or high I want to hit the ball. I get the feel for the shots buy just plying around with it and always watching ball flight.

Thank you again Marcus for another insightful video. On the down swing I try to hit out “though one o’clock “ ( I’m a right handed golfer). Do you do this with your swing with the shorter clubs ( for you it would be hit out through 11o’clock) or do you simply swing along the target line?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
Hi Michael. I never think "follow the target line" and I will adress that in next video. I try to cross the target line in almost every shot.
@MrTonyMonteiro

Thanks Marcus. It seems easier to push down with a baseball grip as your hand is underneath. Is that how you’re gripping the club to push down? Does a neutral grip or strong grip change the approach? Appreciate the guidance, thank you.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad

It could be easier to feel the push in your hand but I use a normal grip and extending the arm and wrist works with all grips. 👍

Hi Marcus, I watched this video again with pleasure. Of course, you can't extend when you press down with your palm, but if you don’t mind I have a small comment here and a request for clarification. To put it simply, the natural sequence when throwing a ball or javelin, or when pressing downwards, is (in terms of moving parts of the body) first the shoulder, then the arm and finally the hand. By push down with your palm instruction, do you mean this sequence? If so, does this mean that you activate your push down with your left shoulder forward and down, and at the same time arm down and palm push towards the ball? This is probably a small detail, but important in terms of “a trigger and feel”, so I would be grateful for your kind explanation here. It's great to have you back, we keep our fingers crossed for your full recovery. Best J
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 7 дней назад
Hi. I know that many golfers want a trigger or a feel to start the motion but I don't think there is one for all golfers. I don't feel anything anywhere else than in my hand. I tell my hand that I need a push down and I get it. When I think about another body part I loose it. In my videos I can see the things you write about happen but it happens naturally and I think we need to let it be or we destroy it. The trigger/feel will come on the way.
@jaroslawpiotrowski877
@jaroslawpiotrowski877 7 дней назад
@@GolfwithMarcusEdblad Thank you for your prompt reply. It's hard to disagree with you! Trigger/feel issues are indeed very individual. I'm trying to convince my hand, but so far it doesn't always listen to me 🤷‍♂️, hence my question. Well, all I can do is keep talking to my hand, maybe I'll finally succeed (!), and most importantly watch your videos, cos thanks to you my golf has gone to a higher level 😊, and I'll probably finally get along with my hand soon! Take care. J

What is the relationship between pushing down with the trail hand and the trail hand passing the lead hand?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
The trail hand can pass on the way down or the way up depending on when it happens and if we don't roll the wrists over the passing and the palm will be going in the same direction.
@user-yg5te2de3c
@user-yg5te2de3c 5 месяцев назад
So with driver longer clubs power is STILL with palm power ,too. But timing different towards impact?
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
Where the palm is aimed the power will go. Palm down or up is all about timing if you swing from the inside.
@boco9252

Marcus, at 2m32s on your video I paused the frame to see how much wrist extension you have as you pushed into the table. I'm not a physical therapist by any means but it looks like you can extend your wrists past 90 degrees. I'd say close to 120 degrees. My wrists will not allow me to get anywhere close to that. I've noticed that long hitters have very flexible wrists. People like John Daily, Fred Couples, VJ Sing, Michelle Wee, etc. Is this a problem that I need to work on for more wrist extension and flexion to get more power? Weird question I know but I'm searching for more distance anywhere I can find it. Thanks again Marcus
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
I wasn't that flexible in my wrists when I started playing golf 24 years ago but when you hit 500 balls a day your body adapts very quickly. During five years I hit 300-500 balls a day at full speed to go from 110mph to 140mph and during that time a lot of things happened in my body. Of course you can stretch but I think it will solve it self if you put in the work on the range.

Great, staying down to the ball-to extend/hit late/follow through to release/unhinge/uncock the wrist late for the 7 iron and below, is it because of the loft of these clubs, and relatively early with the driver and on time with the woods and 6 iron and above clubs, while gradualy moving the ball closer to the middle of your stance, did I understood correctly Marcus mate.
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad
@GolfwithMarcusEdblad 5 месяцев назад
I would say that it's only to control if the club is on its way down or up when we reach the ball. It absolutely is loft related but mostly impact related. You don't need to move the ball if you learn this, you can choose to hit any shot in the book with this skill. 👍
