Learn Visual Studio Code in 7min (Official Beginner Tutorial) 

This is extremely helpful! I was actually overwhelmed by the interface of VS code and so many extensions when I first got in touch with it, this video helped me a lot!

While I love the idea of this video, my screens did not look like your by default. I did have the explorer and activity and status bar as described, but by default, I did not have the panel with Ouput, Debug Problems and Terminal. When I hit F5 on the jsSample.js file, it did not run in the debug console as expected, instead it comes up with a Welcome tabbed window with Get Started with VS Code. So either this video needs some updating to a current version or the presenter has extensions installed that are not present in a new installation.

Thank you! I've been using open source solutions for years, and while they are still great, they are very old-school and I have to start learning to use Visual Studio and VSC for my work and it's a real paradigm shift compared to the IDEs of old.

Unfortunately, this did not work for me. Once I hit F5 the program never ran. I figured out that a debug program was never configured. I tried Node.js, but I kept getting an error. Once I figured out how to bring up the launch.json and run that, I went back to the jsSample.js to run the program. It looked like it ran, but never showed the result. I suspect I didn't set up something correctly with the debugger? I'm not sure. Do you have another video showing how to set up all of the basic configurations?

as somebody who got their start in python using a terrible web compiler (Programiz, why do you have so many bugs????), learning about VSCode was a blessing. Although it's much more all over the place than the web compiler, once you get to know the features, it becomes the best thing ever.

Hi. I am having problems in running the JavaScript. It will not debug. Nothing comes up in the "Debug Console" tab and it takes me to the blank "Terminal" tab. I have followed everything correctly up to now. Is there any external debugging software we need to download or is there something that isn't explained in the video that we need to be doing? Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

i always giggle when i see all these microsoft people using Macs for their day to day computers. Do they not enjoy a good ole fashioned windows PC?

I don't know if anyone can help but I followed this video and this did not work for me. Everything works well, but if I type code in Javascript, F5 does not execute. Does anyone know how to execute? When I do this it tells me to select a debugger such as node.js...I am new to code and quite lost. I am use to codecademy where there is a simple run button and it executes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
