No, I thank you. I'm a newbie and I've only been learning autocad from your videos a couple of days ago. It helps me learn faster by applying it which are practicing and helping others of what I learned.
I cant thank you enough for the work you're doing for us, and for free as well...really appreciate your patient way of teaching, please keep producing them as i feel you're the only only on youtube offering such extensive knowledge on the product. Thank you again
AutoCAD is the greatest thing since sliced bread and this tutorial is brilliant; I'm using '14 but the principle's the same. This tutorial is brilliant, thank you!
Thanks a lot and I'm very grateful for your compliments. Also i appreciate that you'r taking the time to express your opinion on my work. My intention is to provide a full course on 2D and then a basic 3D tutorial. This initiative comes out of the fact that for a lot of people, AutoCad becomes a monster and they simply can't overcome the challenge. I think however that this could be easy to understand for everyone, just we need to present it in a clear and easy way. I'm glad you'r getting it.
Great for you and I'm glad these videos will help you out big time. I wish i had something like this when i started Cad. Make sure to go over the ones following this. The entire series is great in my modest opinion for beginners. Hope you also share your feedback for the rest and feel free to post any questions. My best regards.
Great tutorial! I am Starting university this september in which I will be using the Autocad system, Many thanks for the sneak preview, This will be a great help.
Absolutely great video! This tutorial really made me understand the fundamental things of AutoCAD. I've watched several other tutorial videos but none of them explains the AutoCAD essentials stuff as complete, as clear, and as thorough as you are. For instance, the explanation of the various entry method and the counter-clockwise system AutoCAD uses. They couldn't have been more easy to perceive what with the diagram, the one-by-one example, your easy pace of explaining all of them, and everything. My overwhelming thanks to you. Looking forward to learn the next videos! Really, really great job :)
Thanks a lot for the encouragement and for posting. You can see all the videos in my channel or follow the links at the end of it. Make sure to share your feedback also for the rest. My best regards
By double clicking on the mouse wheel it will Zoom "extent" which means it will show all you have in your model space. Additionally, by using the wheel you can zoom in or out as you please. Hope this helps and sorry for the late reply since today i got back internet after some days disconnected. Best regards
Thanks a lot for your opinion, as you said is the same basically. Most of the differences are for complex operations and advance features which are not used by most people. Feel free to look at the rest of the series and give us your input. Thanks again and best regards.
Cad is based on the "Cartesian coordinate" and has a "world coordinate system" or WCS that you can't modify. It also has a user coordinate or UCS that you can work with but what you can do is "enter" the info with different methods like absolute, relative or polar which are explained in the video. Hope this helps, Regards
If you refer to afford the software, today is not that complicated. You have an educational version from Autodesk which is fully functional and are excellent to use for practicing. After that, most big companies are using CAD so you need to know it pretty well to work in the field. Best regards
Thanks for your tutorials-- finally found a tutorial that's easy to follow! I drew my office desk and tried adding dimensions to it, but the text is barely visible. How can I change the text size?
Yes, of course. By entering the distance when using the line command with the right units of measurement. If you need more help, just make sure to be specific in your question and we will be more than glad to help you out. Best regards
Hello my name is vicky ;I am a student learning autocard. I am entering many problems. My first problem is ; my cursor is refusing to highlight objects and perform other comand like delete. .What should I do.
Yes, of course, a very demanding one, that's why I ask the audience to be patient when having a question. Still I'd like to encourage everyone to post them as you see necessary. My best regards
Hello guy!! Thank you for these tutorials!!! I live in Brazil and I'm enjoying so much to watch yours videos about AutoCad..... I have worked using the Inventor at the company, but I'm needing to learn how can I use the AutoCad....Tks!!!!
Wellington Paulino Thanks for letting me know. You will benefit to see the videos in sequence, feel free to let us know if you need anything else, and please share your feedback in the rest of the series as well. Here for your convenience I'm posting the link for the CAD 2015 series first tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vL-X3sidKsA.html
Good point, and thanks for the input. Most of the drawing aids are explained in the next one, #4. Thanks a lot for your help and feel free to share your feedback anytime. My best regards
Hi. Thanks for the kind efforts to make this series. In our homeland, we always remember a nice say of the famous poet 'Ahmed Shawqi': Stand and respect your teacher, he almost become a messenger. I have one problem with downloading this part of the series (Part #3). I have made a number of unsuccessful attempts ending with: unable to convert. Kindly, try to help Regards
Hi Vicki, My suggestion is keep going at the pace the tutorials are set. However, tutorials 13-15 are intended to address your questions. The #13 is called "Introduction to annotations" #14 will be released on Tuesday night and is aimed to teach how to use Manual dimensions and #15 schedule for next week will explain the annotative dimensions. Hope this helps and best regards.
I'm glad you liked it. I'm already working on the next one. Also if you have an opinion, please feel free to share. It will only help to make better tutorials. Regards.
cool man , yesterday i download the Autocad, i want to learn how to use it, cause i need a job :( !! 10x for your videos , i will watch all your tutorials , maybe i learn something :D
I don't really understand your question but I will try to explain SNAP MODE anyway. when SNAP MODE is on it allows you to draw at specific intervals, say when draw a straight line by dragging the cursor (cross-hair) it will draw a certain length each time you drag. The length or interval can be set in settings under "Snap and Grid"
Hi, After finishing this series, I will include one for mac users. Believe me, you are not the only one asking for it, so I'm committed to do it. Thanks for your request and best regards.
Hello 00Dyana, Yes, tutorial #5 is the one in which you can follow the creation process of that desk step by step, however based on your questions i think you might need to start from the 1st one to get some basic cad concepts and also revisit the 2nd and 3rd with patient and time. Believe me it pays off later on when you get a good grasp of it. Feel free to ask or post if any other questions arise, regards.
Ok, it's kind of intuitive and it highly depends on the type of mouse you have, but you can try pressing your mouse wheel and moving it for panning and for zooming to your whole drawing double press the wheel and it will position it there. There are other options and I'll make sure to include it in a video tutorial. Regards
It is already there, as tutorial #5, make sure however to understand the #4 first. #4 is called: Learning Autocad 2013 "Basic drawing aids". The #5, the one you are asking for is: Learning Autocad 2013 "Drawing on your own". Hope this helps and best regards
Thanks for the details. Also you can get free versions participating in Autodesk Education Community. For that you need to be- (a) a faculty member; or (b) a student; or (c) an Autodesk Assistance Program participant. And of course each option has its own requirements. Specially option (c) is for people who wants to go back to Architecture or Engineering fields and are currently unemployed. Regards
Ok, 1- Set the units of the drawing to Architectural. 2- call line command. (specify the first point in the screen) 3- Cad prompts you: "Specify 2nd point or" (press F8 if you want to draw at square angles) 4- Moving the mouse toward the position you want type 5'6" and hit enter (don't use space). 5- Line should be there, and cad will keep asking for next point. In case you want to finish, hit enter again or repeat the process if you want to keep going. Post back to see if worked for you :)
Hi Yumairee, Sorry for the late reply, I was moving and just now got internet back. I see you are already understanding it. To create a straight line you use F8 which is Ortho mode and is explained in tutorial #4. Basically there are 4 main ways to comunicate with Cad. 1- Absolute, 2- Relative 3-Polar & 4-Direct entry. As bobombo noted you have to specify with the symbol which one you'll use otherwise the default is relative. Pay a visit to video 4- it compliments this- and let me know. Regards
Hello and thanks a lot for your comment. In regards to what you mentioned, I'm not sure how it works once you download it from RU-vid. If you see it within RU-vid I'm assuming it shouldn't give you any hard-time. The original format is a WMV and should be opened with Windows Media Player, but again let me know if i can do something to help you with this issue. My best regards.
Thanks a lot for your encouragement. Please check the other videos and tutorials. I'm pretty sure you'll get a lot from those too. Again, thanks for your comment.
Hello, It is called dynamic input and you can activate it with F12 or down at the status bar. Anyways is explained in the next video called "Learning Autocad 2013: Basic Drawing Aids". Hope it helps and best regards.
Excellent classes, tks a lot! I have just one question - I'm using Autocad 2014 for Mac and when I try to draw a line using the keys, like 1-10", or 1'-10", or 1'-10", or even 1-10 the Autocad send the this message on command prompt:Point or option keyword required. I have set the units to feet, then to inches, and it always give me the same results. What should I do? - using a PC is not an option. Tks a lot!
Gabriel Ribeiro I'm assuming you are trying to do it that way since the very beginning right? Try specifying first a point on screen using your mouse and then use it the way you described. Let me know how it goes.
Great tutorials! How do I get my dimensions to not show up as inches and decimals. If I type in 1'-1/4" the dimensions will read 12.25 inches. Everything else is working great.
Thank you for the tutorials, i needed something like this. I wanted to ask you something, i'm currently struggling when attempting to make a line at a specific angle, how do i specify the angle? and thank you.
I think that the answer is in the next video. There is a couple of ways to do it but you have to specify the angle and it'll do it for you. Please look at the next one and then let me know if it worked for you. Regards
is there a keyboard shortcut for zoom in and zoom out?i can draw top view but when i want to change the bottom the top also changes.i tried in 3D modeling options then it changed but i cant control the depth.it just rises up but i wanted it in wards.what to do?
Hii from Duabi... was practising the last image with meaurements (table) The right leg has an angle of 75 what would be the angle of the leg on the oppoisite side, and how ? Love your tutotials thnks
I'll include it in a tutorial very soon or do one for it. Still you can go to "options" and there, "display" tab. In there you have an option called "crosshair size", move the bar up to the size you want. Another thing is that you can set there other feature called "right click customization" in which you can call the previous used command with right click. Please let me know if you need anything else. Best regards
Hi, Thanks very much for your video tutorials. They are very helpful. Small question: I am unable to get my line to snap at the right point in absolute coordinate system. When I type in # 1,1 it automatically snaps to the X-Y axis point. It does the same thing everytime even with relative coordinate commands. Could you please help me with this?
Ajay Rayaprolu Autocad should do it the way it is explained in the video more or less after minute 2:30. The first point is always selected based on absolute coordinate and then it switches to relative from the second one forward in either polar or Cartesian modes. However, to change the entry system between absolute and relative coordinates yourself , Use command DSETTINGS. In the Drafting Settings dialog box, click the Dynamic Input tab. Then under Pointer Input, click Settings. In the Pointer Input Settings dialog box, select either Relative Coordinates or Absolute Coordinates, as you prefer, and also try switching between polar and Cartesian to try to find the solution to your problem one at a time. Let me know how it goes.
easycad4you Thanks for the answer, much appreciated. But I think maybe I didn't explain my problem properly. In your tutorial when you type in absolute coordinates (1, 1), it snaps to a point that is 1 unit in the X and 1 unit in the Y direction from the origin UCS. For me, when I type in absolute coordinates (1, 1) it doesn't snap to that point like your does, instead it snaps to the origin point on the UCS i.e. (0, 0). And every other subsequent coordinate system I type in thereafter also doesn't snap anywhere else, it just stays at the (0, 0) point on the UCS. I am unable to get over this hurdle.
Ajay Rayaprolu Sorry for the late reply, it sounds like you have modified the default values for the Cartesian/ Polar modes. Play a little bit with the settings i mentioned before and you might find the solution. If i find something will let you know. Best of luck.
You seem to be missing a few key measurements on the desk drawing to complete it properly. The leg spacing is not notated in the video and the same for the desk handle and desk cabinets . I could assume that the handle for the desk as well as the cabinets are center but could not tell for sure. But all in all good video
In my tutorial: Learning Autocad 2013: Drawing on your own" you can follow step by step how to do it without having those measurements. And yes you can see that the handles are centered and the legs aligned with the side of the desk. that's all you need to complete it properly. Although you are right that having those would make it easier, unfortunately it will be many times when you'll need to make those assumptions working for others. Give a look to that tutorial and it will certainly help.
Good morning, My name is Seyi, from Lagos, Nigeria. Thanks for these tutorials. Please I am having 2 issues with using my Autocad. The first issue is that my origin is not referenced at (0,0) rather it is referenced at (1,1). So when I tried to draw a line using the Absolute coordinate system and I specified the first point as (1,1), Autocad placed the first point at the origin. The second issue it that when I want to dimension angles and radii, autocad uses a style different from that which your is using. For example if I want to dimension a circle of radius 25 (R25), the dimension line starts from the center of the circle instead of the circumference. Also if I want to dimension an angle between 2 lines which measures say 60 degrees, Autocad will draw the dimension angle in between the 2 lines rather that placing the arrows outside the two lines. Please how do I change this? Thank you.
Oluwaseyi Ayeni Hi your first issue can be solved by using command UCS, it will request an option an then use option "world". Try it and let me know. The second issue is that i'm using a different dimension style than yours. Refer to videos 13 thru 15 to learn how to change it and let me know if it works for you. ru-vid.com/group/PL3CEC0EC5BF058178 All the best.
Oluwaseyi Ayeni Ok, you want your origin at 0,0 right? By default when you open CAD you will have the ucs icon at the bottom left of the screen. Your 0,0 should be there. Is that what you have? Have in mind that Autocad will start using for the first point ONLY, absolute coordinate, but after the first point it switches to relative coordinate entry. For instance, if you use command LINE and specify for your first point on screen 0,0, it will snap at the vertex of the UCS, any next point you call will be relative to the endpoint of your line. Please be more specific if this does not solve your issue.
I need to find somebody who can do CAD drawings, and I will pay for them, but I don't have any idea how to do that, or do it myself. What is the best way to find people to do this for me?
It's likely due to how your right click works. See this tutorial on how to do the customization: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JxUd9PPqAng.html
ok lets try this, type "L" press enter, specify your first point "1,1" now drag and draw a vertical line, continue drag and draw horizontal line, now type "#" and "1,1". You should have a triangle!
Mehdi Bakhtiari I think you will enjoy the next one as well which covers most of the drawing aids like snap and grid, polar tracking, object snap, etc. Best regards: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EsDezUwqD8c.html
Well he wasn't being very clear on that. There are two things you can do, one is you have to enter "#" before you specify the points, another is the little button located at the bottom called "dynamic input" (you can turn that off or by pressing F12, by turning this off you don't have to enter "#")
It all depends on what you need and what type of dwgs you want. There are plenty of people willing to draw for you. If you need help with that, you can email me at easycad4you@gmail.com. Hope this helps and best regards.
