@@ForwardTherapy yes, our hands are very important and we should take care of them the best we can.

Really appreciate your take on this, do you ever work on wrist strengthening in extension with CTS pts?

Sometimes! Depends on the person and their symptoms. Are you thinking wrist curls? Isometrics?

Hello! I am an outpatient OT, new to outpatient world. Any suggestions or progressions 10 wk post op CT release still having hard time tolerating any WBing?

Weight bearing for ct release actually can continue to be sensitive for several months, I continue to recommend people work on scar mobilization, you can try things like kinesiology taping for pain or fascial glide, and making sure the wrist is stable (think isometrics, proprioceptive work) one of my faves is closed chain wall “wb” on a ball or bosu ball and then doing wrist motion to force stabilization. And making sure their wb form is correct, sometimes they need to strengthen the rc and scapular muscles to keep them lifted instead of sagged. Long story short I find time is a major factor in improving this

Are these beneficial for someone who is postop as well?

this video is really intended for therapists to help guide some treatment! post op initial phase is about controlling inflammation and pain, and initiating early active motion. you can do finger and wrist movement, as well as thumb. when the stitches come out, scar management begins. and about 4-6 weeks out you can start strengthening! I'd recommend you ask your surgeon to refer you to hand therapy to help you progress.
