The creation of 2022 dantes red fade cvo ultra limited made me jump in. The custom hand painted color scheme, and the fit & finish are all PREMIUM. Couldn’t find one when they came out so i bought a used 2021 cvo Black Hole. After 4k miles i ran into a DRF CVO and traded the Black Hole in. 26k Miles later….I’ve been to the Bronx bikes & breakfast to key west, Fl, and the mountains of W. VA, all from N. VA. The Adventures of owning the greatest American Touring bike are priceless! I Love my Road Glide.
The price point has it where mostly oldEr guys w/ some $ and good credit can own one. Most of the younger guys label things they can’t identify with for this reason. I wish i could have purchased this 22 cvo ultra limited 30 years ago and toured the whole country in better physical condition.
Excellent video. Informative and entertaining. I've owned three touring models (2004 Road King, 2007 Street Glide and 2022 Road King (still own and love)). I considered myself a Street Glide guy until my son and I saw the 2023 1/2 CVO Road Glide. We are now Road Glide guys. I test rode a 2024 Road Glide a few weeks ago and it was amazing. My first bike was a 1999 Fatboy with an Evo, so I've been a Harley guy for a minute. The 2024 Road Glide is the best bike I ever rode. Like you and your dad, I am waiting for the 2025 because I won't buy the first year.
@@Americanmotorcycleexperience I rode through the shift from choppers and bobbers to baggers. I still have a Twin Cam Softail that I love riding. Baggers are beautiful in their own right and its great to see Harley leverage technology to make the best and best looking touring bikes on the planet. Stay safe and have a happy 4th of July.
I'm one of those new to HD due to the 2024 RG restyling. Was waiting for over a decade mainly because I thought the tech was always lacking compared to other manufacture offerings. Thanks for the history lesson and great vid 👍
Per Corporate HD the production numbers for 1998 Road Glide bikes revealed the following. They made 421 carbureted Road Glides, 133 were Electric Fuel Injected. They also informed me that even though they made 800 Anniversary Road Glide's only 648 stayed in the USA, the rest were exported to Canada and other countries.
@fq7879 all of the 1979 Tour Glides were titled as 1980 bikes. All of the castings used on the 5 speed bikes up until 1998 had a "dash 79" part number on them.
If one ever saw the prototype of the Tour Glide before it was ever released, YOU would NOT believe how BIG the fairing originally was. It was HUGE! Also, HD reversed engineered many Goldwings to develope the Tourglide, which went on to become the Roadglide.
Another factoid. In 1998 The Chopped Tour-Pak was an accessory item that was designed for the Road Glide bikes only. They could be ordered "color matched" from the factory or from the Parts and Accessories catalog.
my 86 was chain drive and had the air in the front engine case guard aka crash guard , AM FM with Cassette tape . the Highway light bar had the turning signals on my 86 , the Battery was under the right side saddle bag . Screaming Eagle Exhaust turn down like the Red Bike at 06:18 . It had the Oil from Engine to the Primary to filter I did not like the oil from my clutch going to the Engine I rerouted the oil lines and plugged the primary and filled it when I changed oil I still use 20/50 for the clutch . The Earley EVO got a lot of left over parts from the left over Shovel inventory .
I never let the screen completely boot up 😂 I’m half way to my destination by the time my Apple car play connects to my 24 RG 😂. The standard 117 engine with cooled heads is the best part about the new RG. Seat sucks but if you get to your destination fast enough with the new engine you never notice your ass going numb 😂
As an ex auto mechanic and 49 year old. It will take a lot for me to like the new ones. From the front fairing that looks like they copied the evil robots of pick your favorite robot anime to all the electronic addons. One thing you learn is if you want to make more problems than necessary and guarantee failure- add electronics. I never could get into the road glide thing to begin with though. that fixed wing fairing with the exposed handle bars just gives the appearance when on it I am on a jet ski and not a motorcycle. They look great from a side profile - the older ones. But in the saddle just not my aesthetics.
I totally get that, not sure why exactly I switched over and started loving RGs but I sure do. I do agree from the saddle it does have a different look. Thanks for watching man, and more important thanks for your input.
💯 The Rushmore bikes are the best look IMO. And I need those OG gauges .. I do wish they kept the oil pressure gauge when they rolled out the Rushmore RG in 2015 I think is when it came out .. Rushmore was 2014 but idk if they did the RG that year
I almost traded my 2023 rg with the 124 and put in 10k on top to get a 2024 But couldn’t part with my 2023 even tho the 27 OTD they were gonna do on the new one .. Took some of that money I was gonna put in and got a 2008 FLHRCI (33k miles and full service history), 555 cams and 16 Carlinis and tons of extras. So got two sweet bikes instead of one new one that is gonna leave me stranded (EVERYONE I know had it shut down on them and leave em fucked and not in a good way). The 117 with the new heads tho.. oh man. Liquid cooled WITHOUT lowers, springs can take a 515 lift cam from the factory, and the intake ports are wayyy bigger.. if I could get the wet heads on my 2023.. oh man
I love my road glide more than anyone or anything on earth besides my ole lady (in case you’re watching .. I love u sweetheart .. no need to be jealous of a stupid hunk of steel that brings me more joy 🥹 than anything on earth .. except u of course.. yea ! Don’t let that silly card that u thought I wrote to the bike but was meant to u.. yea I know it was addressed to Valkyrie2 but it was just a typo)
As a Tour Glide / Road Glide nut, I was ready to pounce on your mistakes, but this time you took me to school ! BTW was that the soundtrack from the Pokémon movie ? 😂
Haha I did more research this time and practiced how to pronounce a few word before my audio!!! I learned from the last one lol. Man, I truly enjoyed the research on this one and was suprised by alot I learned. Weird enough, I'm starting to actually like tourglides because of this video....the one with the wood enlay was damn amazing...thanks for watching man, I'm tackling streetglide next. What's Pokémon? Hahaha
I said the same thing! I consider myself a subject matter expert in all things FLT/FLTR from 1980-1998 and this is the best Tour Glide video on RU-vid! Great job brother. You definitely did your homework and went above and beyond. 👏
Sometimes coolness is because of the ugly, lately I've been catching myself looking at those kawasaki cop bikes from early 80s just because they have that rad fairing
That’s an awesome history lesson. I think the bookends - ‘79 and ‘24 - are ugly AF. I had a ‘13 RGU that I liked, and now a ‘21 RGL that I really like. No plan to move out of this RGL to another HD for now.
Did u say one year has a 2-1 from the factory ??? Not a 2-1-2 but a legit 2-1 ?? *the TC103 is the best motor the Moco made yet .. yes nothing beats m8 power potential but I know so many guys with 103s that are bulletproof
