Let's try something new today! This is my first time using Arches paper, and I decided to paint a snow leopard to practice painting colour variations in grey and white animals. Almost immediately I picked up on a noticeable trait of this paper, which I discuss in the video. I tried to keep the palette somewhat in view (given my available desk space lol) so you can see some of the colour mixing and which paints I am reaching for. For the most part I was using ultramarine, phthalo blue GS, brown red, and yellow ochre to mix up a variety of warm and cool variations in colour temperature. Grab your favourite art supplies, cozy up, and join me for a chat about painting big cats, drawing animals from life, and sketch with me videos.
