Updates on IG: @mikeshaketv I learn new skills every week, check out more videos if you like this content. 1:47 Correct information: certain areas of the brain do manage particular functions, such as movement and sight. For example, the left side of your brain controls your right arms and legs, and vice versa, but they don't affect personality. This video was posted 300 days ago. I got better since than. Have a nice day!
MikeshakeTV this is what you were experiencing. (Semantic satiation) is a psychological phenomenon in which repetition causes a word or phrase to temporarily lose meaning for the listener, who then perceives the speech as repeated meaningless sounds. Looking at the word or phrase for a lengthy period of time in place of repetition also produces the same effect.
After I broke my dominant hand, I had to use my non dominant hand for absolutely everything. I think this opened new doors in my brain. I highly recommend you to keep improving your non dominant side, not just for writing but for everything you do ;)
decided to look up vids on this and this vid is pretty good lol. but yeah your comment hits hard. my left hand does nothing but move the d-pad on a controller and normal everyday stuffs like grabbing, holding, and turning things. however eating is another story lol. it feels so weird to hold a fork or a spoon and try to eat. my mouth just doesnt know what to do with the utensil as it approaches my face lol. like my hand is on its own magnetic field and the utensil just deviates from its intended target.
@@faithsweet8224 it's all about memory muscle, which means that it will take some time for your muscles to learn new habits. So the main tip would be to stay patient, and to focus on the progress. And obviously, not to compare with what your dominant was able to do as it could bring demotivation. Few things will seems extremely difficult and therefore will require even more patience. Like brushing the teeth for example.
It'll be easier to learn as a kid. Kids like a sponge, they absorb everything. Adult got expectation, believe, urge to deny something irrelevant to them.
My dominant hand is the right, and i practice to write with my left hand for months, bec we write the whole book in school and my right hand writes nonstop so ive to rest it and force to use the left instead,i gave up
There’s just one problem with that. Learning block letters is easy, but try writing cursive letters - it’s on a whole different level. That’s what really makes it difficult.
I also felt that writing cursive was harder with left so I practiced cursive after sometime I had like pretty understandable cursive handwriting with my left and when I tried block letters-no joke-it was better than my right
I woke up one morning about a year and a half ago and decided to do exactly this. I have worked on it daily, and now my left handwriting is as good as my right, and speeds have improved considerably. My biggest challenge this whole time, though, has been getting my brain to stop sending signals to my right hand while I'm writing with my left. My right hand and fingers twitch from muscle memory while writing with my left hand, and over time it'll cramp. Even today, a year and a half into it, it's still a struggle and it takes a conscious effort to relax my right side. 40 years of right-handed writing is certainly hard-wired into my brain. Learning to use the left side has been a challenge, but so has learning to *not* use the right side.
My mom is originally left handed. But when she was in elementry school one of her teacher punished her for writing with her left hand. Mind you i am from indonesia and here doing anything with your left hand is kinda impolite. So she wad forced to write with her right hand. It only took her a couple of weeks. But well i think her teacher is so mean for forcing her
aulia exza eka putri yeah same my mom was also originally left handed. But in Guyana, the schools have everyone write with their right hand since it’s more dominant. So, now she’s a righty and can’t really right well with her left hand but I’m a lefty lol 🤷🏾♀️
My mom was a lefty too. Her school forced her to use her right hand too even swatting her if she tried using left. This was during the 60s in the states. Lefties always getting shit on... Lol
That's exactly what happened to my mom! Even though what the teacher did was wrong but thanks to her my mom could write with both hands and in exams when one hand got tired she would just start writing with her other hand which was a great power move in my opinion 😂
OMGGG you are so multi talented. you are always committed to your work......you never give up....you are a great motivation...you are the best.....you are smart worker who believes in practice...i am really grateful that i got your video in recommendation......
I have tried writing with my left hand ON and OFF for about 4 years. Here are some tips: 1. Start by writing the alphabets as they come in all caps for about 10 times then in small for 10 more times. 2. Write the alphabets backwards starting from Z and ending at A. Do this about 20 times in Caps and 20 times in small. This is also a fun memorization technique for knowing the alphabet backwards. 3. Draw lines : UP, DOWN then bumps OVER and UNDER (each atleast 20 lines) 4. Finally it's time to put your skills to the test by writing 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.' I'd suggest 5 times in small letters and then the 6th time in all caps. If you get bored try finding similar sentences which incorporate all the letters in the alphabet. Many can be found online. Once you are confident enough you can move to writing passages and short articles.
@@cameronfallon2108 just draw lines by moving pen upwards and then downwards and then connect the lines using upward arches on top and downwards arches on the bottom . At least thats what i interpreted.
Left-hander here. I remember being in kindergarten and being told to choose a hand to write with. Tried both for 5 seconds. Didn't have a strong preference, but I chose left hand. At age 14 I wanted to try writing with right hand. Sloppily wrote a page or 2 of random words. Got bored and gave up. At age 16 I found someone's uncrumbled homework in a small trash can in a school classroom. It had the girl's name on it. The letters were straight and uniform AF. I was jealous. So I started practicing again for real. Pages and pages and PAGES of random words and sentences (this is called freewriting btw) later, the words started to look better. I kept going. Now I can write with either hand. No, they do not look the same. I have left handed penmanship and right handed penmanship. They look different. Some might say my right hand is neater. But I did intentionally practice with it afterall. The left hand I use just because it's the hand I always used. There's another potential reason my right-handed writing looks better: English is written from LEFT to RIGHT. Right-handers PULL their pen across the page. Their pen can glide across if they like. It's kinda fun imo. Left-handers PUSH their pen into the page as they write from left to right. So it is more difficult. They cannot glide across the page. It's more like the tip catches on every letter. Not fun. If you are left-handed, I encourage you to try mirror-writing: Write from right to left with all the letters backwards. If you do it correctly and hold up the page to a mirror, the reflection will show it as written normally. Mirror-writing is a way for left-handers to get a sense of how easy it is for right-handers to glide their pen across the page. You will feel like you've been cheated out of life if you try this. Lol. Similarly, if right-handers try mirror-writing (still from right to left), they will feel the hell that left-handers have felt all their legible lives. Imo, "ambidexiterity" doesn't exist. Or rather, no one is born with it. Writing is a skill. Practice practice practice and either hand will write fine regardless of who you think you are.
Ironic enough, I have done the same thing. So my twin bro. We write in the mirror script form sometimes, usually in cards for people lol. Throws people off but not to bad for us to write/produce. I taught myself to use a left hand mouse as I am right hand mouse dominant, compared to bring left handed in writing. Good stuff though, glad to see more out there!
I think that there should be progressive exercises. I learned it for fun as a summer vaction project. 1. Brush your teeth using both your hands. Use your dominant hand to guide your non dominant hand. As you get better do it only your non dominant hand this is the best exercise to begin with 2. If you're right handed do tasks such as turning the tap, opening doors and so on with the left hand. Just use the opposite hand. When you do these you will notice your non dominant hand getting stronger and controllable. Then as you progress learn to hold the pen as and write. Whatever grip or motion you use with lets say right hand do it with the left. Left your right hand guide as you write. Use a stencil, or a doted alphabet sheet. Then you can become ambidextrous, keep on practicing otherwise you will lose it.
"The reason I learned to write with my left hand wasn't to impress others. I did it because sometimes I would hurt a finger from my right hand and I would struggle writing with either hand at that moment. And I didn't want my left hand to be useless"
I did this for a while and for a bit I only wrote with my left hand and in cursive which I couldn't do either of those things and now it has messed up my right hand writing :l
I love your video's your always challenging yourself and it is very refreshing to watch and you never give up....keep doing what you are doing and look forward to your next video....Some people can actually write with both perfectly....
I'm left handed and my family especially the elderly wanted me to learn to write with my right hand. But my parents didn't force me. But now I am inspired to write with my right hand. Great video. Also subscribed to the channel.
Ciao Mike! Ti ho scoperto garanzie al video dei sogni lucidi e da lì mi sono innamorato di tè e dei contenuti che porti! (poi sei anche italiano quindi...) Continua così!
Hey Mike , a few days ago I watched your video of using non dominant hand & I felt really motivated ! I was trying to write with my left hand for few years now 🙄 but yeah I didn't give my fullest ! After watching your video how you tried in just one day and the results I felt like why can't I then 🙆♀️ So I started from right then and completed 5 days in training with my left hand and the results are amazing !!! Thanks man , you're a great inspiration . Keep Going 🙌❤️
Amazing video like always. The idea of this video is really interesting, im surely gonna try to write with my left hand too next time i write something😃
I wanted to teach myself to write with my non-dominant hand and found that starting with drawing vertical and horizontal lines and circles and zigzags are so much more helpful than just repeating the same phrase over and over
Funny story I actually started training my left hand to write starting in August 2016. About a year later, it was about the same amount of legibility as my right hand (which was good to begin with). I used it in school, even at the very beginning when it was not good, but using it in daily life ensured that it would improve and be maintained.
Bruh, you're my inspiration. I'm a left handed but tried the right hand after I saw this video.(yesterday) Now, Im trying hard to write with my right hand. And it's working quite well. Ty.
if i ever learn to write with my left hand i will write with that hand most of the time and feel the fresh experience of something i never had. Thank you!
how did i just now realize that you only have about 16K subs? like i seriously thought you had well over 500K. You deserve so many more subs keep up the great content.
During my school, in PE, I hurt my hand really bad but that wasn’t the scariest part, there was a test the day after… so I had to write my English test with my LEFT hand but somehow I still passed. The teacher actually offered that I say what I was going to write and she would write it for me. I said no but now that I think of it, that would have been way easier.
I can do certain things with my left hand which my right hand couldn't but I write with my right hand. I am challenging myself to be able to write with my left hand in a month. Thanks for sharing your video, it's very inspiring.😊
My handwriting with my dominant hand is bad at the start. When I write with my non dominant hand looks like I'm writing the minecraft enchantment language lol.
Welcome to the world of having sliver smudged all over your hand. And having blurred writing when using pencil and pen. I’m about to try to write with my right hand for this reason.
