If you had the bit driver it wouldn't be one handed anymore so it seems to make sense!

Sweet review, I've watched ALL the RU-vid reviews on the Leatherman free and I enjoyed this one the most! I ordered my P2 the day it became available and I love it. I walk around flipping this thing open and closed all day long, like you said, it never gets old. Bit driver would be a nice option. Leatherman also said that they are including a pocket clip with all p4 now, and they'll send you one free if you ordered a p4 earlier!

I think your peeve on the blade spine sticking out is a feature to know orientation without looking. You'll memorize where each tool is from the blade... I wish the file was full. Either replacing the scissors or the serrated blade. Even if they switched it around with either a file sized serrated blade or their standard small scissors. Or they could get rid of the ruler and thicken up the other tools, would be a plus for bushcrafters

I can open my Wave + with one hand. It also has a bit driver. It’s a real shame that the P4 doesn’t and is really pricey considering it’s basic functionality. Great review though! Cheers!

I have both Leatherman Free P4 and Signal and I just can't seem to decide which one I would EDC if I had to only choose one. By the way the Free P4 I got has a pocket clip now. Which one would you EDC? By the way, great job on your video editing. Great video editing like your videos makes a RU-vid channel last a long time. I will refer your channel to all my friends. Great job bro!

@@Soupcan13 After a day's worth of pondering of which I'm going to EDC, I decided to go with the Signal. I even decided to purchase another Signal today, but in the Black and Silver edition with an engraving. Survivability requires not only a blade and a saw, but also a firestarter, if this would be the only multitool I would have on my person.

The Free P4 is pliers, knives, saw, and then, a few drivers and small tools. But Medium to light duty for those drivers, and even the awl. Not heavy duty. Twisted flathead drivers are rampant in the multitool world, even with the best of the big MT companies (Leatherman & Victorinox, with SOG a distant third with nice pliers, and Gerber a sometimes winner only with crappy small tools). My LM Surge and SuperTool, and my Victorinox SwissTool and Spirit, are my heavy weights. Real tools. Most of my 40 or so MTs I think of as medium to light duty kit. Which is fine. My prime mobile kit is my Surge with all the extras: extenders, bit kits, wood and metal saw blades, sockets. My small-scale bushcrafter's dream. But I see the Free P4 as a simple carry, no extra kits, and great if I am on a ladder fixing a ceiling light, or fiddling around the house otherwise. Mostly, to be honest, it is a useful Man Toy. And I have no problem with that at all! Thanks for the great review.

I think the free looks awesome, but much like you said I would be worried about breaking those bits and not being able to replace them like on the mut or charge. 1 more thought, I keep my Leatherman in my pocket. I keep my debit card in my pocket...those magnets going to wipe my debit card?

Hey thanks for watching! I didn't experiment with the magnets and any credit cards(I need those! 😊) but I've seen several reviews that said they didn't have issues. Maybe they aren't strong enough to de mag a card?

@@Soupcan13 I had the nite ize Steelie cell phone holder for a short period of time. The magnet attached to the back of the cell phone. One day I went to swipe my card and found out the hard way what the downsides to a magnetic cell phone holder were.

@@milkman2591 I read a review that leatherman designed the magnets to be strong enough to work properly but not strong enough to interfere with pacemakers, credit cards, or phones.

Victorinox? Their SwissTool X Plus, and the SwissTool Spirit XC Plus? I have those. They are just so much more graceful and machined so well, and designed so all the tools but the pliers are accessible from the outside.

Magnets is cool but this is totally the wrong tool if you work with high voltage (sucks your magnetism away ).

The bottle opener REALLy P’d me off too!... worthless use of space (wont fit a bottle cap) on an otherwise 88% good tool/-not cool you have a multi tool that can’t open ...a bottle!?!

SOG is using gears to open up. So it has more resistance but smooth and not as "freely" as this p4

Is this effective for self defence

While the tool itself can fill your fist and make a punch more devastating. With it closed the pliers form a hammer like surface that could also be used as a self defense tool. I would not recommend using the knives or Saw in CQC combat against an attacker. Seeing as how the best defense is going to be what you carry on your person. A multi-tool isn't the best tool for the job but it's with you and it can get the job done. If push came to shove (literally). I am sure you can certainly use it for self defense. Just don't throw it. That's silly. Get pocket rocks for that.
