I've been a full time EMT for 9 months now and I was promoted to the 911 side of things 2 months ago. In those 2 months of 911 EMT work, my raptors have seen A LOT of use!
This is a followup review to my original urban EDC review!

What do you guys think of the raptor?

I'm been a paramedic for a 6 years now and been carrying my raptors for the same amount of time. I find all the functions work really well. I like how they cut really thick material like motorcycle jackets. The glass breaker works well and seat belt cutter works well too. I've never used the ring cutter kinda forgot about it, and never used the oxygen wrench as a paramedic. I need to try your tip with the WD40 that's really smooth.

I’m the same, been a PCP for 10 months now and I’ve been using the Raptor, I like it. Cuts well, and I’ve actually let an ER doctor use the ring cutter when their tool wouldn’t work. My only criticism is the difficulty in cleaning them after a call, there are so many nooks and crannies it makes it really difficult to fully disinfect and clean them I find. I’ve just ordered a pair of Xshears, I’m keen to see how they perform.

I think they are ABSOLUTELY awesome!!!!! A little heavy???? Yes but that's OK....because besides all the features.... these do one very important thing that almost nothing else can......hypothetically let's say you're in a foreign country driving and someone in the back goes or wants to strangle you.... if you have these accessible.... you pop out the strap cutter and it will eat through almost any type of material there using against you!!!! Slices like butter!!! Try it sometime on your self!!!!God forbid being in that position to begin with.. but.. worth it 100x over!! And do it safely without hurting yourself!!!

What i did was take the belt attachment off and replaced it with a strong pc of hook and loop!! Cuz the original sheath is actually great in that when your using them you don't have to set them down potentially on muddy or dirty ground..I found the hook and loop worked fantastic especially if you have it other places on your body!!!! Slims up the over all profile of them as well!!!! I just love that they can go into the Sheath closed or open!!!! That was smart of leatherman

Thanks; a simple & informative vid. :) I'm a newly-qualified Ambulance Technician in Scotland, and the standard Tuff-Cut shears they gave us at college just aren't sufficient to do the job on-the-road. I was thinking about investing in a pair of Raptors and will definitely do so after watching your vid.

For cutting off clothes say in a hurry I actually found there best to open completely then pop out the strap cutter slide up under the patient or article of clothing.. the extra length gives great grip just slide under twist the shears and slice the material!!!! There so great in every possible position ...I wish I had 3 or 4 pairs.. def would work awesome in your tool box or shop ..or for doing crafts of any sort!! Leather work to probably!!!! There just really fantastic for so much including first responders emts any health care related field!!!! But the price does seem to keep rising!!! That's the only downside

Do you think these would be useful for IT/Tech installation? I work in the IT department at my school and during classroom technology installations there are plenty of situations where we need heavy duty tools, including scissors. Been thinking about maybe getting a pair of these myself.

These were built to cut through just about anything and stay sharp for a long time. If you think the price is worth it over a regular pair of scissors, then I'd say go for it. Not too sure what you're cutting on the job, though.

Knipex electricians shears are what you want. Trauma shears are way overkill for electronics and none of the other tools are useful for that.

Like in the right situation something as simple as a 16" inch pc of 550 cord can some serious damage!!!!!

Does the sheath twist sideways so the shears are ‘horizontal’ inline with your belt?

Yes, the holster is adjustable

Looking to get these for Security use. Will the belt holster fit on a 2 inch nylon duty belt?

The holster fits on most regular belts and also can fit on molle. I recommend looking up the dimensions of the holster on the product page.
