😘 GOOD TIPS : if you have the right wrench to disassemble your rebar, you can add a pair of wave scissors, without loosing any tool. Just remove the big washer and the lanyard ring, and switch handle the can opener. You now have enought space to add a pair of scissors. 😉😉😉

An excellent multitool for everyday use, personally I always thought Leatherman was overrated. A month ago, I received Rebar as a gift. My God, what a fool I was, I can no longer imagine a day without him!! I literally use it every day at work, around the house, etc. The wire cutter is phenomenal, as are all the other tools.

I carry the Supertool 300 at work and my Rebar is on my hip always after work. They are most definitely the best bang for buck multitools you can buy. Plus I have the bit exchanger that fits over the philips head so I can use the Leatherman bits.

I've used multi tools for years, The ST300, is by far the best out there. I carry a micra to go along with it.

I have a Rebar with black coated tools & coyote brown handles. I run it in a coyote brown Clip&carry kydex sheath. It's stiff to open & close, but I really like it a lot. That serrated sheep's foot blade really works well on thick rope.

The scissors on a Victorinox are reputed to be the best small precision scissors available.

Im glad my first Leatherman was a Rebar. I've got my eyes on a Surge now. I would love to purchase another Rebar just in case. I got a set of EOD cutters off the website. They require a little modification but I like the cut angle better

thanks for commenting on the real uses you put tools through. I find that interesting. The awl tools are surprinsingly versatile! I really liked scissors on some multitools, but for anything work related, around the house or otherwise, it's not been as necessary. As a beared guy, I highly recommend the micra or a SAK Rambler for quick mustache cleanups with useful mini tools. I have a wingman, which is great for checked luggage travel or occasional daily carry and the scissors are almost necessary with the other style of wire cutter. With the replaceable bypass cutters, I find I can use these for string trimmer string, certain cord or tube cutting, and similar things you might use actual snips for. I get a lot of flat pack furniture and have found the serrated blade to work the easiest for cutting plastic strapping that they put around those boxes, where the plier head just wouldn't fit. I'd LOVE to see the sturdier tool shapes in something like a Free, though, as internal tools works for me, but it'd be nice to that easier access on the inside of a tool like this.

Good review! I just purchased the Rebar and mine came with a leather case. I have multiple Leatherman tools (Wave+, Free P2, P4, Signal, and MUT) and rotate them daily but find myself going for the Rebar mostly. Thank you for the review.

I got a small victorinox keychain knife to add the scissors for the EDC setup. Well worth it in combination with the Rebar for those who wants scissors.

Interesting my Rebar came with a leather sheath. I carry four different Leatherman tools that I rotate and the Rebar, being the cheapest amongst them, is my go to most of the time. Thanks for the video.

Get some clear mirror silicone and give the sheath a little rubbing over with it. It will considerably strengthen and reinforce it.

I love the weight of the rebar and carry more than my other leatherman. The surge lives in my go bag and the wave plus is what I’m trying to edc but rebar beats it out except the scissors. Great review .

Did you ever get that Ainsworth sheath? I have a rebar but I feel it would rattle around in that sheath, which would be a no go for me

Just picked up a Leatherman supertool 300M. Needed something for my firearms. I also have a wave, wingman, juice, surge. May get a rebar in future. I’ll see how supertool 300 is

I have a regular supertool 300 that I haven’t reviewed yet. I like it but I prefer the rebar if for nothing else but the size. I’ve really enjoyed carrying the Rebar

@@TheJoeshExperience I’ve kept away from the rebar due to now belt clip but I see people are buying options for that. I may consider now

I looked at a lot of pliers-based tools before, and even after I bought my Wave. So far, I haven't seen anything that equals, much less surpasses the Wave. My Surge comes closest. From there, it's a long way down to third place.

I was thinking of getting the Surge as a Christmas gift to myself but ended up just not getting around to it. I see what people like about those 2 tools for sure. I did like have the outside accessible blades on the Free P4 as well but, the build quality in that tool just was not up to the quality of other Leatherman tools. I did pick up the SuperTool 300 back in September but I just haventy reviewed it. I like that too, though its a little heavy to carry every day, and it's kind of overkill for my job...

Love the original fixed tool wave, but I hate the bit holders and gotta have the awl. When I got my wave I took out the useless mini driver and put a rebar awl in that I bought off some parts site. I also don't use scissors in an mt.

I carry my rebar since 4 years and I’m very happy with it. No it can not replace real tools but for small jobs which pop up, it’s a great tool.
@naturecalls3465
@naturecalls3465 3 года назад
I think the Surge is too complicated in its structure. That also makes it very heavy so you can basically carry it only in a sheath. People tend to really point out the file/saw exchanger as the best part of the Surge. I disagree on that. For me the exchanger felt very weak and I also found that having to change between the file and the saw all the time was just frustrating. I'd like to have them both at the same time. The other thing people tend to praise so much is the scissors on the Surge. Well they are bigger than the ones on the Wave but a pair of Victorinox scissors beat the crap out of it regarding sharpness and overall feel. Vic scissors also have replacable springs which is good to have. I really recommend it to really big guys with huge bearpaws of hands who dont mind handling a big bulky "knife" because they hardly feel its weight. Because of the compicated many small parts of the tool it was also really a 20 minutes ritual to clean it a few times a month. Some people like it, I dont really. I'll stick with the rebar and If I need omething bigger then I'll get the real tool to get the job done.
@TheJoeshExperience
@TheJoeshExperience 3 года назад
That’s interesting you mention that because I was just thinking about getting a Swiss Tool over the Surge to review. My thought with the file and the saw is that in my line of work, I RARELY use the file. I like to have the saw with me but for my the file is just unnecessary like 360 days of the year. I could see that exchanger being the weak point for sure!

@@TheJoeshExperience I wasn’t totally satisfied with the overall design quality of the Surge. Though it was only me and my particular Surge. I didn’t hear anyone having problems with the toughness of the exchanger but for me it felt a little weak. Not mention that longer aftermarket t shanks would wobble too much which also adds to that cheap fealing. And again maybe it was just my personal taste because others don’t have a problem eith these. I recommend borrowing one to try.

Surge scissor are a lot better then all my victorinox scissors. More robust and equally sharpen. And a lot more leverage.

Same as well as the odd stray nose hair, and fingernails sometimes. So imo it's much better to have your scissors on a Vic - whether a 58mm or other model - because I can't imagine trying to do those tasks with the scissors on a Leatherman Surge or Wave for example, firstly it would be tricky and unwieldy, secondly the scissors on Vic are imo better, at least for precision work. The scissors on large LM tools are mostly tiny and it doesn't make sense to have them, at least they should put a sturdier larger pair on like those on my Gerber MP600. I use those to tame wild toenails.

Maybe the best overall leatherman multitool... And the only good file of leatherman, almost better than victorinox files. Wave surge charge file is bad!!!
