Thank you. :) I don't like the bottle opener because on this knife, it feels like it's just tacked on to give it an extra "feature". It adds something to snag on the knife and seems like the bottle opener itself is just generally cheap. Also, it generally bugs me that almost any metal pocket tool you run across, a bottle opener is always added, even when it doesn't make sense for the tool, and often makes the tool itself worse.
I subscribed just because you are the only person I’ve heard that feels the same way as me about BOTTLE OPENERS! Anybody who’s too retarded to open a bottle, shouldn’t be handling knives anyhow. I have spitefully boycotted several tools I’d really like to have just because they affixed a stupid bottle opener. I finally gave in and got the skeletool CX, took an angle grinder and cut off the STUPID BOTTLE OPENER. It’s a much handier tool now. And I don’t feel like an idiot when I have to pull it out for a real task.
I’ve been looking for a video of this bottle opener in action. I finally got a bottle cap off, but tore it up - not sure of the right way to use it. Love the knife!
Ah. I think it might be tougher because the functional part of the bottle opener is really thin. I haven't tested it with this specific bottle opener, but from previous bottle openers I've used, if you want to want to not destroy the bottle cap, take the bottle opener pointy edge and put it under one of the pointy edges of the bottle cap, and pull up a little bit (not much though). Then move a couple of pointy spots over on the cap, and do the same thing again. Go around the cap this way and you should get the cap off with very little damage. Also, sorry for my amazingly un-technical description. :) I'm sure the pointy bits on the bottle caps and pointy end of the bottle opener have names, but I have no idea what they are. :)
White Glove Reviews It’s a pretty crummy bottle opener, but you can make it work. Guess Leatherman felt they really had to make 2 functions on the tool, rather than just a pocket knife. Not their best effort. But I still like it, and switched to using it while I put my other knife away for a while.
