The progenitors of the triple axe attack. If you like Mike Olivieri’s voice you have to give the Soul sign album “Life in the dark’ a listen, cause he provides the vocals on that. Carey and him are still a helluva pair of axe-slayers.
I remember helping make this video! Carey Lived next door, and Michael O around the corner. Being the "roadie" for the summer was one of the best times of my teenage life. Thanks LW for listing me right before "all our fans:" on the Thank Yous on the back of the album!
Such a great fuckin' band. The 1980s were the best. The heaviness, production, melody, songwriting, musicianship, they have it all. This band has some really stellar material.
I met their vocalist, Michael, today while I was in work. Absolutely top man whom was out with his family in the horrible Irish weather. I said I would look them up and after doing so, I have concluded that their music is great :-) plenty of depth to it which you dont get with a lot of today's music.
MadLane Nirvana ushered in the death knell for heavy metal along with marble-mouthed Pearl Jam. Those dirtballs didn't last and the record companies screwed metal for good as not much comes from them !
When people mention the "Golden Years," they are surely talking about this time in rock history that put so many of us on top of the world. This was our food, our drink, our medicine, our therapy, our love!! We had it all.
AMEN or LIKEWISE! Been into rock/metal since 1978 (thanks to a band called: KISS!). TO THIS DAY, rock/metal music (particularly "old school" and "underground") IS MY LIFE/MY ESCAPE!
Saw these guys in the Summer of '89 and they just killed it with the triple guitar attack and it was one of the most epic performances I had ever witnessed ! They should have been so much bigger as they had something very unique compared to all of the other bands at that time !
This is perhaps the most realistic music video that portrays a band's quest for success. And it's uncomfortable to know that a team of this caliber never got the recognition it deserved. Forever Leatherwolf!!!!
Leatherwolf has been my favorite band since back in the 80s when I first heard them. My favorite song is Thunder. It has some wierd-ass lyrics! This band is awesome!!
You may think and be jealous that you were not born in the past to hear great heavy metal like this, but I find it better being really young and discovering the past, where music like this hit big and the hair was bigger. For those who have not discovered yet, I hope you will someday. Someday, you will hear your "calling" and there's nowhere to run.
A.O.R THE ARMY OF ROCK Today's "Metal" is to dark and angry sounding to me. And what is up with that screaming or growling shit-is that supposed to be musical? not in my book, can't even understand what the fuck they are saying. Worse Yet-Hardcore Gansta Rap-The person/ people who came up with that SHIT, should be executed at next sunrise.. 80s music wasn't negative and it still required some musical talent-that is my opiniion
***** You listen to that no talent BULLSHIT . That's what rap is. Any fucking crackhead can scratch a fucking record and come up with some bullshit lyrics (usually of lowlife mentality) such as pimpin' ho's , sellin' crack, and cappin' muthafuckas. And it is the shit garbage noise that is partially the reason why there are so many fucked idiots in todays society. Fuck Rap, and fuck you. Get the fuck out of here if you want to speak of rap
+rbagel55 The original soul and spirit of Metal is what is missing from today's Metal. A lot of it just seems very manufactured and contrived, which too much emphasis placed on being more detuned, distorted, heavier, faster etc. Where are the great soaring passionate melodies and tasty overdriven tube amp guitar sounds? Also it is not a crime to have some tasteful and clever keyboard parts woven into Metal music. What passes for melody these days is too simplistic and dull.
EgoShredder You are so right my brother. Frontiers Records resurrects bands and signs bands trying to evoke that special sound and all is so artificial. You cannot reproduce an age, a zeitgeist that was a period of inspiration devoid of self- pity and crappy modern drugs. I didn't worry about anything other than partying, chasing women, getting high, and just having a great time. So, enjoy the best music by buying the stuff from the eighties and early nineties !!!🎸
One really great band from the early 1990s onwards was Talisman, who were fronted by the amazing singer Jeff Scott Soto of Yngwie Malmsteen Rising Force fame. Check out their albums from the first one onwards. The later ones were not as good in my opinion, but the early ones had that 80s sound and spirit to a large degree.
"For those who dare..." Yeah, for those who DARE to seek out and LISTEN to AWESOME music like this! Those RIFFS,that VOICE!!! Hear the LEATHERWOLF calling!
Fortunately this was my hometown band and I got to see so many shows from backyard parties to opening for Queensryche at Irvine Meadows. What incredible talent these guys are still to this day.
I'm also from Westminster and Fountain Valley, HB living in Arizona, first seen them live at Mile Square Park battle of the bands, was blown away. Had moved from Virginia in 1981 never heard rock music, hardest thing on radio out their back then was Journey or Toto 😂 my parents couldn't get me to leave that's when I fell in love with rock! music music and 😅
Leatherwolf never disappoints! A damn good kick ass heavy metal band through and through! Couldn't get enough of the album Street Ready when it was released, completely wore out 2 Cd's! Damn those where the days!
Here's me trying to track down vinal and cassette tapes like an privet investigator and you ancient one's had this type of music on the daily radio, im 92 born by the way, you oldies had it good with music.
This is their second album, their debut is self titled. It's much more raw sounding, if you know what I mean. Songs like, "Spiter" and "Season of the Witch" will kick your @$$!🤘🖤
I use to watch this band in Hacienda Heights/La Puente Ca in backyard parties, they use to do a lot of Iron Maiden cover and Judas Priest covers, and they kicked as on the song sinner by Judas Priest. You could hear the influence on one of their songs called spider, with the into feedback on the guitars. Then they started to make it big and I followed them to lots of club and man they would have the best shows and after parties. I love use to love this band after watching this video I still do.
I met this guy's in Eindhoven Holland they where verry friendly and greath musicians as well the eighties when rock music was greath now one can take that away from me The Calling a hell of a song Leatherwolf love them
So good to hear Hard Rock still being delivered in a traditional, but fresh style. Dig the tune very much. Be looking forward to the album, & stoked to hear Mike Drive's voice belting out the goods. Always been one of my favourite vocalists🤘
Good God, how I loved the first EP. Those vocals. Gee. And then the Leatherwolf full length 'debut' was released and ripped me a new one. What a band. The only thing I regret is not seeing them in Germany end of the 80s.
Grandiosos Recuerdos llegan a mi corazón y a mi mente, recuerdo tanto esos años, the Calling una Obra Maestra, Hideaway, Alone in the Night de la pelicula El Regreso de los Muertos Vivientes. Saludos desde la Ciudad de México.🇲🇽🇲🇽
This is awesome! Frickin' Paul used to HOOK ME UP with my drum sound at the Troub. (Back when i was with Lucky 13) People thought I was GOD cuz his drum mix was so damn good. Thanks for the GREAT sounds Paul!
Awesome tune! I saw a vid of these guys from Rocklohoma a few years ago and they were on the side stage in the middle of the day and there weren't many people. It was a shame. They are very good.
I agree it's a shame, but remember, they're still able to play for people who actually care about their music, when's the last time you saw wham? or boy george or the po(Ifuckinghateyou)lice, etc., actually able to tour where anyone really gave a fuck? Just remember that.
saw these guys at THE BACKROOM in AUSTIN TX and it was fkn unreal... this is just another great band that was underrated upon all the bands at this time.. this band was really tight and put on a great show!!
Crazy!. At shows, Rockers, Phx AZ around 87. Halford there and he jumped up on stage with them. Being a guitar player, jammed out in the parking lot acoustically and singing along with many who weren't ready to end the night after shows. Did that many times and it was an incredible time and place. Phenomenal bands, partying, beautiful girls. Just awesome! Man, I'd give anything to relive those nights.
Killer band outta SoCal that can STILL rattle the foundations of ANY arena!! Been a Leatherwolf fan since 86' I got to see them with STRYPER at the Universal Amphitheater back in the day....I wish they would make it to TN. now, I wouldn't miss it!!
The first Heavy Metal tape my mom ever got me was called "Masters of Metal: Strikeforce Vol. 2" & this song was the fith song on side one. (Cassette tapes are what we hads before Ipods came along, kiddies.) :)
