I like the D, and I like the E despite her obvious design flaws..., but this is *the* most beautiful sequence of the Enterprise ever put to film

I think uss enterprise A is most Realistic enterprise But D and kelvin 1701 is the most beautiful

And the best music score ever written aswell by Jerry Goldsmith! I love the music when the main sensor light comes on that gives me goosebumps

Most beautiful spaceship in cinematic or TV history. Don't keep it just to star trek. And no cgi since holds a candle to the realism of a meticulously constructed model.

It is long time for a ship to leave, it was unacceptable to have it so long, no wonder TMP was not a fan favorite

Saw it for the first time on the giant screen on the stage of Rudder Auditorium at Texas A&M. The place was almost sold out, including the mezzanine which hardly ever had anyone in it at the time.

My aunt took me to see this.My favorite scene is seeing her pass through the Juptian system.And given just how far away it is.And she had not gone in to warp yet.Best refit ever and a real eye pleaser.

Can't believe it's 45 years old. The years just blur together. One minute your back in 1979, young and healthy. Now 45 you realize how old you are.

Now, the grand old gal to me is the original U.S.S. ENTERPRISE from the original TV series, but that's OK. I understand

The movie appears more and more iconic when compared to the Jar Jar Abrams movies and the Kurtzman-Trek series.

0:39 The music is just so epic when those lights come on. And the editing of those scenes is perfect.

I'm not surprised. This holds up today (except little backflipping astroboy). It's gorgeous.

JJ Abrams didn't treat the ship as a character, he saw it as an object.

The first iteration could've been worse, but also better. If positioning of the neck and Pylon angles were adjusted, then the ship would've been fine. The versions after it were bad

I could have grown to like the JJ ship too but those newer movies didn’t have any sustained shots of the ship to appreciate!

It's good, but this will always be TNG music to me.

It’s one of the best little touches in any movie. Exactly how one might expect a worker to react to the awesome sight and imagining he has been hard at work on it for months.

Same here. I realized it back in the 1990s - I would never live long enough to see colonies on the moon and Mars. I'm 72, now, it I find it terribly sad that this present generation cares more about what is between their legs then what awaits mankind in interstellar space. How, terribly disappointing! Maybe someday, a generation will be born that will look up and realize the stars await us and it is time to grow up and leave our safe little planetary nest.

@@kathleenhensley5951 As a member of the present generation, I am frankly appalled at how most of my generation acts. They think of life as nothing, they don't care what job they get, all they want is to stay teens forever and never establish proper inter-personal relationships. I only discovered Star Trek recently, but it truly feels like a breath of fresh air compared to what gets put on the big screens these days. It's clearly a product of a better time, when there weren't regulations on everything to prevent small handfuls of people from getting offended. This is what humanity should strive for: Unity and progress, while also remembering the importance of the past.

What is really sad is the addictive behaviors like video games, drugs, gambling, politics, smart phones, social media, etc. I grew up near the end of the Cold War and remembered us being concerned about the Soviets, but it didn’t seem as much of a war like atmosphere as it does now. I think the last 20 years has conditioned us to accept war as a given, which is really sad, and plays well for a certain party.

Quite right. Those genuine and specific ideals are those of (America) and) western civilization, I guess. How could they miss, being the best and brightest, before and since? Consider this: the whole Earth is entirely ready for a USA-type federation government of governments where, just copying, (abstraction and interpolation) 90% or so of USA that are the best and core features and design of America becomes, overnight, peacefully, with everybody's permission AND because all the other alternatives are so terribly bad and plain wrong, the United States of Earth or USE. Humanity could use just such a breakthrough in civilization, imho.

There is a debate about whether this is really the same ship as the one on TOS since it's been completely rebuilt.

@@richardlahan7068 she is the original TOS Enterprise, despite the extensive modifications. After Pearl Harbor, 6 of the 8 battleships sunk or damaged there reentered service. One of these was the USS Tenessee. Though she underwent an extensive rebuild. So much so that aside from her turrets she is barely recognizable post rebuild. Her hull was widened, her secondary guns were switched fom casement type to twin barreled turrets and her superstructure was completely rebuilt. This is interesting as she was one of the least damaged battleships that day ( sitting inside of the West Virgina, she took no torpedos, just several bomb hits and some of her stern plates reportedly melted slightly when the Arizona blew astern of her ). Also, if you look at the museum aircraft Carriers we have left over from WW2, youll see they originally had rectangular flight decks, and tons of AA guns of various sizes. Now all those AA guns have been removed due to post War refits and the carriers all have angled flight decks like new carriers do. The TOS Enterprise and the refit Enterprise is still the same ship, despite her refit and subsequent alterations to her appearence. Just as the pre Pearl Harbor battleships are the same ships as the post Pearl Harbor battleships. And as are the WW2 aircraft carriers.

It's not as bad as in the other Star Trek films when they leave Spacedock at 1/4 impulse haha, I think that's like 1/16th the Speed of Light, but still thats so insanely fast a speed for them to maneuvre out of drydock lol they'd come out like a bullet

Smaller budget, so they resused some effects shots, models, etc. Every effects shot in TWOK, until after the first warp jump was reused.

They dummed down our youth since the early 90s that now its impossible to even dream of creating this craft..

It has somehow amazing scale, too. This is not some random thing floating is space, it's a huge craft using thrusters at orbital velocity over a planet around a star.

I'll always associate Goldsmith's theme with NextGen. And that's not a bad thing!

I think that this is THE most beautiful ship in sci-fi. To me the second most beautiful ship is the Whitestars from Babylon 5. The ship (I can't call her The Enterprise) in the recent movies is just hideous.

They got rid of the late-60's burnt orange everywhere.

Its crazy how TMP, which usually isn't considered that good, has the best depiction of this that I've ever seen in Star Trek.

I like both the TMP theme and the TNG, but I truly appreciate the heavier brass in the TMP version. It makes it feel bigger, grander, and more cinematic.
