Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses: Regrets 

Its good to know I have a roll. As a jw, I always felt like nothing I did was good enough. I'd cry while singing songs.

If you are a Jehovahs Witnesses that is currently waking up or have recently woke up and left the organization, you will likely experience a wide range of negative emotions. These feeling may include bitterness, depression, anger, traumatic stress, and thoughts of suicide. Do not panic! Remember that God always remembers the love that we showed and are continuing to show for him and his son even if it we were misguided and shared falsehood also. Hebrews 6:10 Even though we were misled by men, we still shared some truth with individuals and God blessed our efforts and he is not angry with us. Jesus said that we should rejoice when people hate us and persecute us for his name. Christians have been set free from the yoke of bondage to any organization “the nation of israel, the organization of Jehovahs Witnesses for example”. We have been set free by Jesus’ shed blood and have the glorious freedom of the children of God. We have outgrown the organization of Jehovahs Witnesses and are now free to continue growing in love and knowledge through individual study of God’s spirit inspired word and not as part of a sect.

Yes....our lives up to this point are just a microscopic crumb....rather than focus on that one dirty crumb on the floor we can start living from joy, love, mercy, grace, and gratitude TODAY

If I had my life to do over, to make different decisions, I would still have regrets because, as an imperfect human, I can't foretell the results of those different choices. Thankfully, we all have a bright future wherein "all things will be made new" thanks to Jesus Christ's sacrifice and the undeserved kindness bestowed upon all who will accept it. My choices got me here. Thus Paul says to us: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4

Your intelligence, logic and cogent thoughts demonstrate the gifts you have. Thank you for your channel.

As someone who is now a woke JW, (and still waking up,) having been born in, I can appreciate this video. My thoughts are that if that's what it took to get to the truth it's worth it. (Haha it kind of reminds me of the Rascal Flatts songs 'Here' and 'God Bless the Broken Road' but not in the context of romance, of course.) I can say I appreciate some of the skills and qualities and principles we were taught, and regardless of the lies, we were actually instilled with a mindset believing we should obey God as ruler rather than men, ironically. Once a JW understands what's true, if it doesn't break their faith, they are already of the mindset of following Scriptures. Being raised a JW helped me develop good study and reading skills. I use these secularly as a writer and love writing. Being a JW gave me a spiritual background that pushed me into reading Scriptures to begin with. I don't know that I would have had as nice of a life now had I been raised a different way. And seeing as my parents met at an assembly, I guess I can be thankful that Yah allowed this religion which allowed my parents to meet and for me to exist. As for my own husband, who is a great brother, I met him in a Kingdom Hall. Are there things I wish I knew earlier? Sure. Since age 10 or 11 until my mid-20s, I used to have panic attacks watching the news, being afraid the great tribulation would start and I would die bc it would be too late and I wouldn't be "good enough " and would die at Armageddon. If only I had done a verse by verse timeline study of the book of Revelation and the sequence of events before and looked at all the Scriptures we use IN CONTEXT...that would have given me years of relief. If only I had been told what the individual letters of YHWH in Hebrew meant all this time and I saw the YHWH in Hebrew pictograph letters before....(but no one ever told me that each letter in the Hebrew alphabet represents one or more words.) But at the end of the day, we are alive and we woke up and all I can do is be grateful and Praise Yah.

How wonderful our God Jehovah is. I too look back and see the good I gained as a preacher of the good news. I felt the loss of not finishing my education and other things. How right you are about God's timing in revealing to us urgency of getting out of this organization.

If I could live my life over again with hindsight, I wouldn't make the same mistakes again. I would make a whole bunch of different ones.

No years are lost. For Yahweh has said. "He will give back the years the "locust has eaten". In the view of "eternity", our lifetime is a drop in the vast "ocean".

i must say I am very proud and impressed with the way Beroean Pickets expresses himself. I wish I can express myself in such a way to uncover and false teachiing . Wonderful man .

I came to this view on regrets some time ago but it is so good to hear it in a perspective concerning all the years and lifetimes spent learning what we thought was the "Truth". You are so right that no matter what if nothing else we've gained a rich knowledge on scripture alone but now as we awake more fully we can put that knowledge to learning real truth and throw away the rest as so much refuse. Eric, this message is wonderful and you are clearly a gifted teacher. God is using you to bring message of love and compassion for ex-cult survivors like myself. I was never involved with JW but I was drawn into a small local cult for three years where they control almost aspect of your life to the point where they tell you to live, marry and eat. I understand the trauma it has caused me. I experienced depression and I took counseling. It took me about 10 years to recover and I am thankful to say that the Lord has blessed me with healing and comfort and through fellowship of brothers and sisters who loved the Lord. I am now involved with a Deaf house church I started with several Deaf leaders and it is growing as the Lord gives increase. Thanks for captioning your videos because it gives me an access as a Deaf believer to things you teach. I did have encounters with JW when I was in college and they really challenged my faith and understanding of the Bible. I still believe that the Scriptures teach Trinity/Triunity (yes I know that the word is not there but I believe the concept is) and eternal hell but these JW did help me with my perspectives on holidays and living godly life. I had to end the discussions because our discussion led to argument which went in rounds. One thing I want to encourage you is to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirt because He (person) is a teacher who will teach you in all truth. 1 John 2:27 Praying and interacting with a personal and loving Father through Jesus Christ does make a huge difference with opening my mind and heart to the truth just like Jesus "opened" the Scriptures to the disciples on the road to Emmaus. There is a difference between legalism and life, being theologian and Theophilius (hint: look at the meaning of the name here), and ever-studying the Scriptures and coming to Jesus to have life. (John 5:39). I read among your comments in other video posting about your problem with Trinity because "God cannot die". It is true but think it's a flawed line of logic. Does it mean that God CANNOT come into flesh and experience human death while He is God in spirit? I think it is similar to what the Serpent said to Eve, "You will not die". There's two ways you can die, physical and spiritual. Why cannot eternal and spiritual God experience physical death? There's two levels of beings and reality going on here. I believe that Jesus is God who came from heaven into an embryo (Immanuel), grew up and experienced humanity and tasted death (as a Passover Lamb) for everyone of us to show the ultimate love God has for humankind as the Scriptures teach. What greater love can it be than a person who can lose all from where He is to reach humankind in our last place in universe? I will pray for your spiritual journey as you know Jesus more and more and love him who He.

fortunately i left a couple of moths ago , i´m 21 years old i have time yet to invest in my life . I used to be a pioneer all my time was to the organization . Now i opened my eyes and realized it is a cult.

I never considered my time as a JW a waste of time. I do wish things would have been different as I was growing up, but not everything. Some things were good, some bad. It was just a passage, that I had to go through. I do regret a few things. I should have made better choices, but hindsight is always 20/20. Leaving the watchtower wasn't a bad choice. It was probably the best choice of my life. That was something that was in my control and no one else's. Of course I couldn't leave until I was an adult, but that was ok. I knew it was coming, I just had to pick the right time for me. That was when I really began to live. I still had a lot of time ahead of me.

I'm so glad I reviewed this video. I have been moving forward since I made my decision last year, to never, ever go back to JW meetings. My so-called friends of over 30 years have shunned me. However, I am almost finished writing my first book about my life and how JW teachings affect every nano-second of your life. I want to write novels too. So things are looking up.

Jesus waited one year from his death to arrest Saul of Tarsus on the road to Damascus. That was because he gave Israel a one year extension of mercy to repent before cutting them off. (Luke 13:6-9) One year after Jesus died, Stephen went to Jerusalem to offer the Kingdom for a second time, and instead they stoned him to death. Jesus then saved Saul, made him Paul, the apostle to the gentiles, and gave him the gospel of Grace.

I woke up in my jubilee year. LOL! I have yet to embrace the years lost, but your perspective was helpful. Thanks Eric.

Everything that happens to us in this life shapes our *true motivations* and *character* . In Job, as fulfilled in the life of Christ, and us in him, we have all the issues, answers and personal experiences that builds God-like character/image of god (or NOT). Mere bible facts, information, or church doctrines does not make godly charachter / sonship. In eternity, the law that governs Jehovah, is, his own nature, aka his name/nature/godly charachter (Love, Mercy, Justice). That's the requirement for sons/daughters ..children in his image. Genesis 1:26, Ephesians 1:3-14, Titus 1:2, 2 Tim 1:10, 2 Peter 1:3-11, Romans 8 Shalom

I enjoy your explanation of biblical defense of the doctrines of the True God and His Son! My story is not one of an ex JW, rather,of having been a "Friend of the Truth".I had begun a bible study with JW's.Eventually, my wife and kids ,also began to study.My natural "penchant" to verify,test and correlate info(as the beroeans did) ,I began to see the monumental flaws in their teachings, but continued my study with them. I started to attend meetings (alone at first) followed by my family also attending.As time went by,I noticed that what JW were saying and had said,was full of holes.I stopped attending and ended my study.My wife and kids,on the other hand,continued on their path to baptism.I would warn them about how the organization destroys families( how spiritual brothers and sisters were their "real" family).They started to say that I was being used by Satan to undermine their faith!.Anything I said was met with that response.My wife left me late nov of this year,stating that it was impossible to be with a man that did not share her beliefs,i.e.: the GB was chosen by Jehovah,144,000 would go to heaven,not look at any "apostate" websites or books,ect.,ect.ect.So to any present JW students who are thinking of joining them ,beware,they manipulate with subtle psychological imagery,outright lies and FEAR.Thank you for your taking the time to expose these LIARS!

Same here, buried in tech manuals at 9 or 10. Radio Electronics and Modern Electronics magazines along with Radio Shack mini- notebooks. But the mention of college in the house was akin to cursing. Later went to tech school, but engineering would have been better.

I don't so much regret what I've learned, but I do regret the interpretation of the translation that I swallowed hook, line & sinker. I became a man pleaser. I grieved the Holy Spirit and when I started wondering why I didn't have that same fire I had when I first believed, I started questioning my salvation and started to think I had somehow sinned against the holy Spirit. Horrible downward spiral. They made us subject to Gehenna twice as much as them.

J'ai des arrières tantes qui était TJ dans les années 30, mes grands parents maternelles et paternel ont pris le baptême en 1940, touchés par des missionnaires à l'epoque, ma mère à pris le baptême en 1953 à 12 ans, j'ai donc été élevé dans la doctrine de la Watchtower, j'ai pris le baptême en 1980, j'ai été ancien plus de 15 ans j'usqu'en 2018, j'etais aussi P.Permanent de plus ma femme avait un cancer, elle est d'ailleurs décédé en août 2019. Lors d'une S.S un surveillant de circonscription avec la complicité du college m'a demis de mes fonctions, sans fondements biblique, le seul reproche qu'ils pouvaient me faire c'était d'être trop droit😰 sans blagues ? C'est la que mes doutes ont ressurgit plus que jamais, je me suis mis à faire des recherches intenses et en 6 mois j'ai fait une lettre de dissociation de 10 pages. Comme tu le dit si bien dans l'une de tes vidéos je me rend compte aujourd'hui que cette organisation est dangeureuse et pathétique, mais le pire dans tous ça c'est que la majorité continuent à êtres les robots de la wachtower. Great videos, watched many of them, I’m a faded JW. You seem to have studied a ton! your videos have been helpful. Have you read The Evolution of God by Robert Wright? Having read that book and also seeing the different type of God in OT and NT; I’m agnostic after 40+ years growing up as a JW... God is not Great by Hitchens furthered my disbelief in the Bible... Among other books. The Bible seems like a fairy tail to me at this point or a somewhat a history made up after the fact by Jews and Christians. Not a book handed down by the True God.

Is it better to not be a witness in an organization and not make disciples or be a witness whom is making disciples but in an organization that has some false doctrines?

John 6 v 44 JESUS said, NO MAN CAN COME TO ME, UNLESS THE FATHER WHO SENT ME DRAWS HIM. So then if the father doesn't draw you you won't come to Jesus, that you could be resurrected to everlasting life. Jesus also made it clear that some of the seeds will fall on Rocky soil and some will fall on fertile soil. He that does the will of the father, is the one that will be saved (Matthew 7 v 21) Jesus Christ ( The king of God's kingdom) gave a command at Acts1 v8 Acts 5 v42 Acts20 v20. Matthew 24 v14 Matthew 28 v 19 and 20. JEHOVAH'S Witnesses are obeying that command, ARE YOU? Can you unvow a vow to Jehovah? ( Deuteronomy 23 v 21 and Ecclesiastes 5 v4). Can you unlearn the truth? Oh No Jehovah God knows that you know the truth Hebrews 10 v 26.

I want to say all religions teach that the laws were done away... in scripture it says that the laws are true amid Yahshua came not to do away but to establish them. Hello Eric as promised I will show you Rev 13:1 and the 2 secrets . 1 st in the original writings the apostle John wrote I stood on the sands of the sea and saw a beast coming out ext. as we know some have changed it to he stood, the jw to it stood. So no one seams to understand it The apostil John is just writing what he is told by the Angel , so the Angel stand there protecting the sands of the sea against the beast that iscoming to war with Gods people. Abrham was promised that his seed would be multiplied as the sand of the sea. So we now know that this vers is the same as Daniel 12:1 the start of the 1335 the same as revelation 13:1 is the start of the 1335 . We know it is Michael that stands up and throws the devil down Rev chapter 12. The secret would not have been a secret if we were given the Angel name, it would have been to simple. But now we have been given the secret we no the Angel that that Jesus sent in Rev 1:1 is Michael the ark Angel, once again Jesus and Michael are different beings . Good morning Eric, I've watched a lot of your videos and been very impressed especially the one about valuing every part of life even the parts that are sometimes difficult. I have been a Jehovah's witness all my life only to be thrown out and disfellowshipped for not agreeing with Bible teachings but the time I spent there I value just like yourself. the reason that I've come to you is in hope that you can help. you say you like electrical circuitry difficult things, I want you to help me with something that's difficult in the Bible. to start with have you ever calculated Jesus life in days, it's fascinating, Jesus said in Matthew 5:17 that he came to fulfill the law and the prophets, and it's to do with that, so first of all he was 30 when baptism, he went out into the wilderness which took one day, tempted by the devil for forty days and forty nights. when the devil him, left the angels came and ministered to him one day.then we know he left the wilderness to start his ministry of 3 1/2 years which in Days is 1260 this equals if you count it all as days 1332 then we know it was put to death and he was in the grave for 3 1/2 days equal in days 1335. Jesus said he came to fulfill the prophets and the law, and if you look in Daniel chapter 12. something that Jehovah's witnesses never ever studied in all my time as being a witness in any depth all the other things and dates they go to town on. but not this one,the secret in Daniel chapter 12 calculates to 1335 at the end of it in verse 13 Daniel is promised just like Jesus, that he would stand up for his allotted reward in the Resurrection.
