To me, Jordan was better than Lebron because Lebron had the physical superiority, longevity, longer athletic peak, with better team skills, and couldn't accomplish what Jordan did.

From a Chicagoan who grew up watching Michael and the 3peat, Michael had no flaws in his game. He played in an era where basketball and basketball players was/were tough. He and the bulls shut down some of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen. Watch some games where the bulls play Detroit, New York, Phoenix or Utah in the 90s. Not only will you not be disappointed, I think you'll reach a new level of respect for the game of basketball from that time period. I just started watching your channel and it makes me happy to see some younger generations see the game I grew up watching.

I honestly love Lebron. There will never be another Jordan though, not even close. The way he never stopped no matter how much they were up, never took off a game voluntarily. Watching him was so different. There is no comparison to be honest. I'm not hating, it's just the way it was. Every single game was sold out, the other teams fans would actually cheer for him or go crazy when he would dunk. You just can't compare, it was so crazy and I don't think I'll ever see it again.

Jordan’s the only player ever to get DPOY and win a scoring title the same year. When they ran him at point guard he averaged a triple double too, 10 in 11 games. His passing was underrated but at shooting guard your primary goal is to score.
He can be a point guard. but not worthy to do this. 88-89 Season MJ got 10+ assist many times. Even though he got 13 assists in the 6th game of the Eastern Conference Finals, Chicago still lost to Detroit. He want to win! He doesn't care about these "data"! MJ is simply the guy that Lebron doesn't beat in a series. Lebron did have a weak mentality even in his early prime year's. Either Jason Terry was shutting Lebron down or Lebron melted in the finals against the Mavs. The more Lebron grew into a better mentality he also began having some defensive woes. The more clutch Lebron became, he definitely wasn't as athletic anymore. He never had all his tools at one time. MJ was at the height of his prime in every aspect of his game at once, for about 7-8 years straight. His basketball IQ, athleticism, mentality, defense, offense, will, competitiveness etc, were all pretty much at their height during that 7-8 year span. When Lebron's athleticism was at it's height, he lacked mentality. As Lebron became more clutch and a better shooter, he also had 2 season's that he was dead last in the league for getting back on the defensive end. Lebron plays one style which is a great one, and that's all-around. When Pippen would have single digit scoring games in the playoffs, MJ would score a ridiculous amount of points to pick up the slack. And then he would let those teammates know about it in the locker room. He set an example on the court and then confronted teammates in the locker room. That's how MJ elevated his teammates on and off the court. Lebron is a slightly better passer but he has more of a tendency to keep passing rather than become a pure scorer when needed. Lebron is also known to be more friendly in the locker room which has proven to have less impact on teammates, which has resulted in some more finals losses. The will and mentality of MJ put more fear in teammates and opponents than I've seen from Lebron after watching both. MJ almost averaged a triple double while scoring over 30 in the only season he was asked to do so. So he's very capable of carrying a team similar to Lebron while still scoring and defending on a higher level, in an era that played much slower. So he had much less plays to get his 30/8/8. I'll explain the reason MJ didn't continue playing that style too. What many don't know is, MJ had the lowest surrounding scoring cast of teammates among all the star player's throughout history, to still win a title. So that left quite the offensive load on him. That's why his game became more about scoring and stops rather than triple doubles. MJ does what it takes to win championships while Lebron plays his game consistently and it results in some wins. Plus the most advanced criteria given yet has MJ way ahead of the pack. The only criteria given to put Lebron slightly ahead of MJ has been proven biased and also puts quite a few ahead of Lebron himself. So Lebron isn't even goat under any criteria given yet. MJ is hands-down the goat. People will have fun trying to figure out where Lebron belongs on the all-time greats list after he retires. Definitely behind Jordan. Even if he accomplishes much more, he could never be better than Jordan prime for prime. Maybe after Lebron retires people will actually compare him to some of the other greats, that some young and inexperienced media propelled him ahead of without ever measuring them up first. Also, MJ is 11-0 in championship games if you count NBA, NCAA, Olympics etc. And these two guy's are compared as individuals not by their teams. If they had the same win% in boxing, MJ would automatically be considered an all-time great while Lebron would be considered a journey man. If they played against each other in any given era, Lebron may make more finals due to longevity, but MJ would go undefeated everytime they faced-off. Who knows if Lebron would have even grown into a champion mentality if MJ had stood in his way. Lebron obviously didn't grow into that mentality until his second year with Miami, after stacking the deck during his prime to have an unfair advantage over the rest of the league for years to come, in his mind. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5 etc, in his own words. He didn't know him and Wade wouldn't compliment each other well. And too bad he didn't put the work in or he may have beat the Mavs. But instead he just melted. MJ may have lost in the first round against one of the best super teams ever, but he put up 60 trying to fight through. He just didn't have the supporting cast at the time to prevail. Lebron may have made many finals appearances but he also played in the weakest eastern conference of any era. Least win totals for the top 8 seeds and anybody can look that up. Wade and the Heat gave the blueprint to beating the Pistons the year before Lebron beat them. And those Pistons struggled ever since the Heat broke them. People can brag about Lebron beating the 73-9 Warriors team, but they had no business in the finals. Steph and Klay were young and declining each playoff round. That team almost got beat the series before. In fact, Warriors would have lost the round before if OKC didn't choke a 3-1 lead. Curry just wasn't ready for the big stage. Just the year before, Iguodala came off the bench to get MVP over Curry in the finals. Only reason that team had so many wins is because Kerr revolutionized the game with the best two shooter's ever to share the court. But they wasn't a fraction of what they were in the regular season when the playoffs began. Every single team stat for GSW dropped dramatically in the playoffs. Even more so than any other team in the playoffs. Almost more than any team in history. Nobody wants to talk about those records. Regular season records don't tell how good a team really is. GSW was good but never great. Numbers don't lie. 73-9 doesn't lie about how good of a regular season team GSW was. Their post season numbers don't lie about how they weren't nearly that good anymore, once the playoffs began. If you count the 73-9, you must count their post season numbers too. Or otherwise it's just a biased debate which hides facts to support a narrative. MJ may have never beat a team with that kind of record, but that was because his team was the Juggernaut team to beat, except Jordan elevated his game in the playoffs unlike the young splash brothers. MJ may get surpassed one day, but Lebron won't be the guy to do it. He's already been too much of a failure. MJ = reigning GOAT.

That number has actually dropped a little since facing that low seed Heat team. So based on wins, the level of competition was tougher for MJ. And those bad boy Pistons were projected to be in the finals as they were the previous years but MJ's bulls beat them out and they never recovered as they aged. And the supposedly old nobody Lakers were still good enough to beat every other team out to make finals, until MJ's bulls beat them out to never recover again as they aged. The Utah Jazz had the league MVP over MJ in Karl Malone and Hall of famer John Stockton breaking records. But MJ with the flu beat them out in 6 games. Barkley and Suns were the team many thought could give them a good go but Barkley admitted no matter how hard he tried to will his team past MJ, it couldn't be done. Respect to you, young man, for being open minded about “the goat.” I was blessed to grow up like many in this thread seeing the greatest man to ever play basketball. Michael Jordan. But, to be fair that’s my opinion and by no means am I taking away the greats before him. Meaning pre 80’s greats that were phenomenal basketball players but due to technology and evolution of the game it’s hard to compare. One thing the younger generation (not you, because you obviously respect the past players and how they paved the way) doesn’t understand is how the NBA almost went under before the 80s era. Magic, Bird Lakers and Celtics along with countless others literally saved the NBA from going under. Then MJ comes along and takes it to next level. Basically, what I’m saying is without MJ more than likely you have no Kobe or LeBron at all. I believe YOU get that, but so many folks have no clue. Speaking of MJ. IMO. We’ll never see another. As folks have mentioned, his killer instinct was the difference. He practiced SO hard that come game time it was “easy” in his opinion. I grew up watching MJ. People are used to seeing his dunk highlights, posters etc, and of course his game winners but watching game after game for a decade, you saw the d-fence, blocks, steals, nasty passes, and he worked on every possession. Not only that, he'd drop 40-50 with nothing but pretty fadaways, pullups and mid ranges. It was fun to watch on both ends of the court. Teams rarely got over 110 point because defense won games then. Nobody dropped threes then like they do now which is the big change. MJ is my goat, and I'm glad I got to watch most of his career. I can't say that about many other players.
Jordan was as good on defense as he was on offense. The most complete player in the history of the game. It was very painful being a knicks fan during his prime. I used to despise him, but now have a great appreciation for his game.

I know you cant bring yourself to admit it yet, but I think if you spend the time to watch all of MJ's career, youll realize why he will always be the best player to ever exist. Kenny Smith said something interesting one time about MJ... He said that Jordan never had another player on his team that demanded a double team. Every game he played, the defense was almost solely focused on him, and he still put up amazing numbers with great efficiency and still had enough heart & energy to put in the effort on defense. This highlight video is a great example of the overall game that Jordan brought... Everyone knows about his scoring, but notice his defense, his quick reactions, and his ability to move without the ball - 15 points came from catch & shoot alone.

Your generation typically comments in the online debates with a view that the 80's team were full of un-athletic dogs playing against Jordan but the reality is that the 80's and 90's teams were amazing. They had much more toughness, probably had more fundamentals (todays players mostly jack 3's) played together longer and there were plenty of athleticism, especially with players like Shawn Kemp, Dominque Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, Julius Erving, Larry Johnson, Larry Nance, Daryl Dawkins, Alonzo Morning, Gary Payton, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem, Chris Webber etc

200 steals 100 blocks twice... And Olajuwon and Pippen did it once each. However Olajuwon is the only one of those three to have 200 steals and 150+ blocks (actually over 200). Jordan still rules just the same.
There was a time he had 10 triple doubles in 11 games streak when John Paxson was injured and he played PG for 13 games. His biggest weakness is that he's an average 3 point shooter and he hardly shoots them he didn't need to, he usually shoots them late in the shot clock.
FYI, when MJ learned to play, the 3 point line didn't exist in the NBA. It was a relatively new addition when MJ actually joined the league. Anyone born after 1975 has more experience shooting 3's in college ball than mj did in the nba. at the time this game was played. Crazy right?

First and foremost Michael Jordan before he even played a single game in the NBA was already being called the greatest basketball player ever. He never quit on his teammates. Michael Jordan broke the standards and set the standards so high that it's hard to reach. And he did this in less seasons than all players combined. In Jordan's era, the home fans used to stand behind the backboard and wave colorful things to distract the opponent at the freethrow line. They would heckle too. That is not allowed in today's league. Another obstacle that the old players had to overcome beside the hard fouls.

I love those. You hear the respect and fear they ALL had. Even the top players before he got there were all shocked when he hit the league. They knew the moment they saw him play their days were numbered (Magic and Bird both felt this way and it is easy to understand why).

I appreciate your honesty and reacting to this video. I get that some "old school" fans can be just as obnoxious as younger fans as to who is the greatest. The only thing I would say to keep in mind that a lot of us older fans watched people like Micheal Jordan play every game for years and years and you can't understand his greatness fully by just watching highlight videos, even though they do give a great picture of his abilities. Plus, we've also watched people like Kobe and Lebron play night after night for years. So we are comparing them based on that.

I'm about the same age as Jordan so I remember all this. Some things to remember, Jordan didn't care about stats, only winning. You double team him and he will pass it to whoever is open and let them score, he doesn't care how the points come only winning matters. Or he will score while being double teamed. He don't care. If he needs to rebound he can do it he can do all of it good even 3s. Also the pressure doesn't matter, he is always clutch in a way that LJ is not, he just doesn't get rattled. This is why he's so good on the free throws. Actually if the pressure is really high he does react to it, it makes him play better. When someone pisses him off that makes him play better too. The higher the pressure the better he plays. He wasn't really scoring a lot of points in the Olympics Dream Team, because there was no pressure. I heard the only reason he joined the Olympics was to study his olympic teammates to get an advantage over them back in the NBA. I don't know how true that is but I can picture it. He was that obsessed with winning. One time there was some game it wasn't playoffs or anything real important and they were down by about 10 points with about three minutes left or something. He was done for the night and sitting on the bench with a towel on his head or something, he was done for the night. . Some young guy walks by and says I told you we would beat you. Jordan laces his shoes back up and puts himself back in the game. He starts racking up points really fast and ended up beating the other team decisively. I don't remember who the other team was or what year but it's a pretty well-known incident. This dude got pissed off over trash talking and it made him play better. People actually avoided pissing him off because he would run up the score on them. Another good reaction video would be Larry Bird and he is a basketball player that Jordan always respected. He played his last few years with a really fucked up back and still had like a about a 24+ point and 10 rebound career average. He was an amazing passer too.
