OB Daz and Aidan react to Lebron James and his most iconic chase down blocks. Link to original video: • LeBron James ICONIC Ch... Instagram: officeblokedaz
Yeah LeBron is a massive human. Listed at 6'9, about 115 kg. In his physical prime he was simultaneously one of the strongest, fastest, and most powerful players to ever play the game, and honestly he still is, although not as much as before.
@@Biscuitsgravy924Easily. He was also REALLY good at football too and very likely would have made it to the NFL had he chosen to go that route. It would have been a nightmare for the league had he chose that. A 6'9 genetic freak with lightning speed would be something almost never seen before
Goaltending generally includes either making contact with the ball while the ball is over the cylinder of the rim, making contact with the ball after it's apex (on the way down), or making contact with the ball after it has touched the backboard (layup attempt). There are a couple more rules but they rarely come into play.
Ik you probably dont want to react to lebron right away again, but the Lebron Loudest Crowd Reactions is one of the best Lebron overall highlights on youtube
You guys really gotta find some of his highlight videos of when he was in high school...ESPN started televising his games when he was as young as 15. There's plenty on youtube for you to find.
Goaltending is when the ball is on the way down, OR over the cylinder, OR if the defender makes contact with the rim (net also)--OR if the ball gets to the backboard before contact is made by the defender.
T-Shirt Lebron and just 2nd run Cavs Lebron in general is the highest peak in basketball history. Closely followed by James in 2012-13 on the Heat lmao
Daz is so accurate though LeBron James is incredible to do what he can at his size he's swatting it at age 38 at 6'9 bulked up he's a phenomena for sure.
-It's goal tending also if the ball touches the glass first BEFORE the block contact is made. If the ball touches the cylinder, you can't just take it off the rim like in International rules basketball. Also can't poke a ball out of the cylinder, like sticking your hand through the rim to block a ball. -The commentating duo in Cleveland was Fred McLeod (R.I.P.) and former Cavalier Austin Carr. They both fed off of each other and had some amazing catch phrases they came up with...
In Miami he did it twice to Kirk Hinrich in one game and it is to this day one of the most disrespectful things I've seen in sports. Might be from the game @10:32, but not sure with how dirty they did all the Bulls guards.
In terms of highlight reel blocks, LeBron is probably at the top, but by no means is he up there all time as an overall shot blocker. Guys like Hakeem Olajuwon and Tim Duncan are names to mention there.
@@krcjayhawks And? That doesn't change the statistics. lol It's not a shot at James. lol You can say he has some of the flashiest blocks, but if we are going by sheer numbers he doesn't even come close to top 10. Because we could literally apply your statement to any player and then all stats are meaningless at that point. lol
@@YerpDerp17 nobody is saying he's one of the best shot blockers though? I'm just pointing out that there's no point in mentioning that LeBron isn't one of the best overall shot blockers when nobody is making the claim that he is lol. At that point it's just taking unnecessary shots at the guy.
You might not have noticed but in most of those one of his teammates goes in front or tries to slow down the momentum of the person with the ball so that Lebron can get a easier block
My ex and my daughter by happenstance ran into LeBron at the Beechwood Mall in Cleveland. I made a comment to my ex, wouldn't it be funny if LeBron was here. Well he was, walking through SaxFifth Ave. He had an entourage of 5 or 6 guys with him. They looked like dwarfs compared to James. My ex yelled ,"LeBron", he turned and smiled. Daz, Adian, it's hard to picture just how big these guys are until you see them in person. LeBron was huge, I mean tall, and solid muscle.I mean solid. I think he could stop a runaway bus just with his sheer will.
I don’t think he is close to being top in blocks. Usually centers or Power forwards aka rim protectors lead it. Also Daz it’s goal tending if the ball is on the way down, already off the back board, or if it’s above the hoop aka the cylinder
Well yeah...he's not going to be in position to get blocks as he faces guys in the post. I guess itd be more accurate to call him the best transition shot blocker of all time
Sinc most NBA players are tall it's impossible to accurately get a good visual of how tall they are. There are exceptions but the majority are very tall.
@@TheIcemanthomas eh I mean you can say the same about the blocks but remember all the bodies he’s caught going to the rim. And how ferocious he was. To the office blokes it would bring an even more physical showcase of Lebron that I don’t think they fully realize.
For most of his career LeBron's has been I would say an average defender. In the latter part of his career he has become more and more of a below average defender, but that is to be expected with age. He never really averaged a whole lot of blocks, but one thing that must be said is that he always came up clutch defensively when his team needed him the most. He definitely also has the flashiness to his blocks, whenever he puts that maximum effort on the defensive end. Using that athletic 6 foot 9 frame, he's a freakin beast
He's made 6 all defensive teams, was runner up for defensive player of the year twice (and arguably should've won in 2013), and in both 2020 and 2021 had all defense caliber seasons. He's always been average at least even when it seems like he's not giving that much effort.
Bill Russell would block the ball to the outlet man to start a fast break or catch the ball and start it. Same with Wilt Chamberlain. Most of LeBron's blocks result in the opponent getting it back in their own end or inbounding from the baseline under their own hoop--the block was useful, but not very functional in the end for the team. Here is the clip of a 17 year-old Wilt Chamberlain catching the ball and starting the fast break on his own (remember he was 7'1"!): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZmBc8NX_oL8.html. A short one of Wilt v. Russell. This one is of Bill Russell generally: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nWFsL4Y8RVA.html Russell averaged 8.1 blocks/game during his career. Compare that to the leaders now.
This video was probably made because transition blocks look freaking sweet. They don't have to be ultra effective statistically. Although imo you are seriously underestimating the mental impact he has on opponents getting loose on a fast break
I'm sorry but that simply isn't true. lol He was phenomenal, absolutely. But there were still superstars balling in the NBA when he got there. And you can also argue that because he had all this hype coming in that he was always going to win Rookie of the Year no matter what but Carmello arguebly had the better season. And even Dwayne Wade was balling at an extremely high level. Like if you weren't a massive fan during that time you may not remember this, but there was legitimate debates going around that Carmllo was better. Now I know its hard to believe in retrospect, but at the time it was a real conversation. Hell, Carmelo was orginally supposed to join Wade and James in Miami instead of Bosh. I'm sure there are plenty of articles from that time you could look up. But just wanted to say that your statement is a tad hyperbolic. He was top teir, but not hovering above everyone else in his rookie year. If anything his rookie year you just saw his potential for what he was eventually going to turn into.
He’s great at chase downs. But in general he’s not really anything special as a rim protector or shot blocker. Probably could be if he wanted to focus on defense and play the power fowarfbut he plays a lot on the perimeter instead of under the basket.
ok lets not get carried away, he is a good blocker and he has made the chase down/ block from behind a signature move but the best blocker of all time, NOT EVEN CLOSE! Dikembe Mutombo, Bol, Hakeem the Dream, Kareem, Duncan, hell Shaq. all much better blockers then James.
Also daz when you asked what is goaltending , the very next clip when he blocks oladipo #4 was goaltending they missed (hit the backboard then James blocked it
My 🐐 Lebron James! Jealousy is such an ugly emotion. This guy has built schools paid for college for students and just recently built apartment complex. Constantly giving to the needy and children's hospital. Involved in humanitarian rights. Now on the other hand. Let's remember he was 18.
I’m gonna forgive you for that comment about 4th best in nba history only bc you don’t know but lebron james is THE KING 👑 AKA THE GOAT American baseball fans consider the goat status debate to be between King James and your Airness himself(MJ) but it leans more to Bron
I think he understands how insane Kobe was, and so do I, he's one of the best ever, but some people do tend to overrate him ever since his tragic passing.
