That was very irresponsible of TNT to ask a question like that right after a playoff game on live TV, but Lebron handled that way better than I could’ve even imagined. Much respect to Lebron and my prayers go out to Pop and his family
thezrevolution I agree it was so awkward, and I know LeBron later said he had already known about Erin's passing, but watching that interview you could tell he wasn't prepared to answer any questions about it. The timing was wrong on so many levels.
Tryna catch him slippin hopin he'd say something that he'd get bashed for. kinda silly though. the motherfuckers aren't related to each other nor are they even friends. Just another way to get some blacks to show praise toward white folks at every turn. Thats how tf i see it.
Look, as Bron said: the man upstairs never makes a mistake. So, everyone, just fucking chill. It's no big deal; she's not really dead - in fact, she's gone to a better place where everyone gets a mansion, so why is everyone acting off? It's almost like they believe that she's actually gone forever.
I have to say im not a Bron fan but he handled it perfectly for the tv audience. And that question should not have been asked. Prayers to the Popovich family and Erins family...
bombmer95 no he was not! And at 1:21 bron even said "awww shit" he shouldve found out from friends and family, not LIVE ON THE AIR from a reporter. How would you feel being asked that from a stranger instead of people that you know?
It was straight up wrong for that reporter to hit Lebron cold with that question about the passing of Gregg Popovich wife. There was a time and place but that was not it. Even if its your job. Reporters can be relentless.
It was a report that she did ask Bron if she could ask about that before live interview and he said ok. He even confirmed it after she was getting backlash.
Great answer by Bron. That's a tough question to answer on the spot after a game like that but who the hell asks that question right then and there?? RIP Erin Popovich
Michael Oswald yea bro, I liked the video because of lebrons response, but I tend 2 agree with the rest of the comments, not a good time 2 ask that question, kinda not classy on the reporters half
Michael Oswald if you watched the end of this game this was literally seconds after the game ended. The nba on tnt crew sad they told him before he went on camera and he agreed to comment but it must have literally been within a min or two beforehand because happened literaly right after the game ended
so he admitted he new she would ask the question before the interview started... what?? both LeBron and her had the option to leave the ratings-bs out of this, and chose not to
Carl Austero how tf could he have known when the news came out during his game ? & Don’t say she told him about it and it wasn’t shown in this video because he was smiling beforehand so he was unaware of the situation . & you think “ good game Lebron real quick Pop’s wife died I know you have a close relationship with Pop how you feel about the situation “ is professional ?
Lost some respect for TNT. Usually classy. But that was in no way the place and time to ask LeBron that question. And I'm not even a LeBron fan. He handled that the best he could. Totally irresponsible TNT! Wow!
Evan Cornell sorry. I just noticed she was holding a TNT microphone and conducting an interview on TNT's television broadcast. Didn't notice her Cavs employee badge or the Cavs jersey it's obvious she is wearing. My error for making assumptions..... Smh sarcastically 🤗
Carl Austero glad he called you and told you he knew the question was gonna be asked. Since you are in such close contact with him. Can you call him back and ask him where he will be playing next season...? MAMBA OUT!!
A lot of folks hate on LeBron, but he has been and is nothing but a Class Act and a very inspirational role model for our youth. He handled this news with the utmost respect for Gregg Popovich and his family. LeBron also said that Allie did not ambush him with the question because she asked him before they went on air about it.
jumixn 500, No, she asked him could she bring it up to him on air and he said yes. Just saw the clip. He said she asked could she ask him that question on air and he told her yes. Unless he's lying to get people off her back. Smh
Kyle Wowry The media is stupid for that. Really sad for the lack of respect that was shown for Gregg Popovich. You never should ask a player that right after the game ended. Lebron would have eventually found out anyway.
Respect, Lebron is a role model for all... Im not a Lebron fan per say, but this man is paving an historic path every athlete should strive to follow. Guy gets in to no trouble, speaks out on social issues, uplifts communities, i mean he does so much while being the best basketball player on earth and to top it off, he's a class act. Most accomplished athlete ever, in MY opinion.
Trevor Mckenzie What did lebron james say or do that was so special? This man has been in front of cameras all his life. He said what he was supposed to say. They could have shoved a microphone in every players face and they would say what they were supposed to say. Nothing special!
Anthony Jones I was a Lebron hater and he has earned my respect over the years, just wanted to say something positive about the man. Sometimes it's good to see these million dollar athletes are just people.
Anthony Jones LeBron has opened a school for the underserved youth with free supplies, the school is doing quite well. Not to mention his charities to multiple colleges, even while expressing disdain for the NCAA.
Hearing the news hurt me, seeing the reactions hurt me more. Coach Pop was a very funny and caring person when we met him and it’s sad to hear news of his wife passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family 🙏🏼
Hate or love him I don’t care. If you’re a real basketball fan, personal life is always something we have to respect. I feel so bad for pop, such an amazing man. I’m sure his wife was just as amazing! RIP
Pretty tasteless to ask a question like that, especially knowing the respect between Lebron and Pop. I'm not at all a Lebron fan, but he handled that very well. You can see the real emotion and respect. Mourning the dead should be something that is given privacy, dignity and respect. Prayers to Popovich. He's truly great as a coach, leader and human being. His wife must have been an amazing woman as well.
PTrizzle93 he is the ine who revealed that he knew. If he was trying to be fake he wouldnt have said anything. I think it was just emotion. Even if you know sometimes you still get emotional
NBA is a family. Of course it’s a business and people get traded in their sleep but the players, coaching staff, reporters, announcers, the people who work on the stadiums and the television crew, most of these guys have deep respect for each other for what they do to make the NBA the entertainment powerhouse it is. RIP Erin Poppovich. I say her name “Erin” because she was her own person and not just somebody’s wife.
That was awful timing on that question but LeBron handled it well. Gotta respect that guy, he does a lot for his community and isn't afraid to show emotion
I was watching live, I saw her talking to LeBron before the interview, she probably told Lebron then even though he was still in shock. he still handled it well
I cringed at the timing of the question but reporters’ jobs have always been to get scoops...and so we were blessed w a pure empathetic human reaction by Lebron James...so I’m glad she asked it...
Classic news outlets swarming to try to be the first with coverage on breaking news. This is way too personal and they should be letting the Popovich family mourn in peace and allow Lebron to reach out to Pop on his own behalf as opposed to announcing it to the world. Very distasteful imo
I may never put him as a player above MJ. But dang, I went from not liking him in Miami to being a complete fan of the man and whatever team he's on. How can u not after he represents himself and his family consistently like that...in top of having all time great game. Much love and respect to LBJ and condolences to Coach Popovich.
Come on man, how can you ask something like that THIS way... it looked like an AMBUSH!... Its not a question you can just answer right away... it takes a lot of time for news like this to sink in
People calm down, Bron already explained that she asked if it was ok to ask him the question beforehand and bron agreeded to it. But understandably it is not the best setting to answer such a strong question, this should probably be ask at a press conference where the players can better express their thoughts and feelings.
Attention: the producers told the reporter to ask the question, and the reporter broke the news to Lebron beforehand, off camera, and asked if he would be willing to answer a question about it on camera. He agreed. He was not blindsided. If you look up “uninterrupted” on twitter you’ll find a video he recorded where he set the record straight. don’t come at the reporter.
LeBron great answer to a badly timed question...not after a game on the court, maybe later in the locker room or at the press conference Wishes to Pop RIP Erin
Even if LeBron was told of Pop's wife's death just before the postgame interview doesn't mean that his reaction is fake. LeBron kept a straight face when answering questions about the game that had just ended but when he was then told again (first time live on TV), LeBron then showed some of his true emotions about her tragic death due to an illness she was dealing with for awhile. LeBron hadn't fully processed it before he was told on live TV.
im a huge spurs and pop fan but knew nothing bout his wife other than he had one and it hit me hard hearing that and i think it hits the players just as hard bcuz everyone feels alot for pop and has alot of respect for him then for players like lebron it hits them bcuz they probly start thinking about their own wives .
for the people still saying she blindsided him - he came out and said that she told him prior to the interview and that she asked his permission to discuss this so it wasnt a total surprise...Lebron posted a video saying he knew this was coming and said he was okay with the question.
Y'all right the timing of the question was awkward, but I love the genuine response all he could say initially was SHIT, I gained alot of respect for him for that he showed hella empathy
