Lecrae is clever. I think the thing people forget with hip-hop is the use of metaphors. Although this song is about his wife, he is also metaphorically talking about his relationship with Christ. Honouring his wife is also honoruing God. As long as we don't place wives, mothers, fathers etc before Christ it's all good.

I was fortunate enough to be in a recovery cell when I was in state jail. On Thursdays a guy would come preach to us and let us listen to Christian music. As soon as I heard Lecrae I knew my life could and would get better. He speaks the truth cause nobody is perfect but you can change your life if you choose to do so.
