I got my kit yesterday, hooked it all up today. Had a hard time getting the balancer in, but finally got it. Connected the conversation kit to the lectric battery (real easy to do). Went for a ride, about 7 km. One way, When I got home, It looked like I didn't use any power at all. Really happy I stumbled upon your site!
Got my second kit installed and now have a total of 54 amp hours. 2 x 20 amp hours mounted on the rear rack and the factory 14 amp hour in the frame. Now we can ride without having to worry about not having enough juice for our lectric 3.0
Y’all just gave me a bad case of buyer’s remorse. I had just ordered a new 3.0 with extended range battery. Now I’m considering cancelling the order. I bought the original lectric in 2019. My only real issue with it after 1000miles is that I can only get a 20mi ride. Your product looks so easy I could do it, giving me the extra range I’ve always wanted!
The 3.0 has some nice upgrades compared to the 1.0 that I like better: suspension, quieter motor, wider handlebars, strong rear rack that can carry a passenger, and if you bought recently, hydraulic disc brakes. I sold my 1.0 with a dual battery setup to a friend (didn't have a balancer, so I just had to make sure both batteries had similar voltages before connecting in parallel).
That’s too bad, you could have bought a AiPAS bike that is exactly the same bike, actually better as the give you more options like a horn and turn signal for $350.00 less than the Lectric. 😢
Is there a way to mount the battery using the two mount screws where the water bottle (?) holder would mount? I'd like a way to make it harder for someone to steal the second battery.
The bag in the link isn't the bag in the video. The one in the link doesn't have straps. I'm about to order the adapter and balancer but need a bag for my spare Lectric battery. Thanks
I just got my kit and installed it on my step thru 3.0 Installation was really easy and quick, Thank you. The only thing is I am not sure if the size of the balancer has changed or the size of the compartment has changed but the balancer would not fit sideways in there as it does on the video. Any Input on that? Thank you again
Should have my Lectric XP step thru 3.0 LR in a week. I understand the batteries have to be charged separately. Was thinking maybe the 20Ah Hailong 48v battery for the Lectric 3.0 LR.....will that work? I will probably get one of these kits after the warranty runs out.
Hi Electric All Wheel, question: would both batteries charge at the same time. Like after a ride I plug in my charger into the bike would that one charger charge both internal and external at the same time???
Wonderful video, just purchased the e-bikes and looking at the second battery setup. We have the 48 V 14AH battery pack long range from Lectric, which battery do you recommend for pairing? I am guessing you need to match the AH. Thank you :-)
You do not have to match amp hours only voltage. We have tried to provide examples of multiple options but ultimately it depends on what you’re wanting to spend. Please check out our other videos for Lectric dual battery setups and various batteries
This is cool because i was about tou buy the xpremium ebike but i saw some videos that speed is not constant and u need to change speed all time and if i want to accelerate from one point then i cant
Sorry but I'm a little confused. At 9:26 is this showing me that if I have an extra Lectric factory battery I can use your kit and that bag to use with my factory battery inserted in the ebike and the balancer to use both batteries. If so, would you please tell me which of the links below I need to buy? I would need the factory battery bag (I've already ordered that) for the rear rack, and then all the adapters, etc. Thanks!
Nice! You wouldn't happen to know where to get a plug and play thumb throttle for the XP's would you? I need a full grip and would like to change to a trigger shifter.
This video will show you the setup on a 2.0 Full Video - New Thumb Throttle Installation Replacement to the Controller on a Lectric XP 2.0 eBike ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-igc-dlbVkY4.html
This is our XP 1.0 mod which has thumb throttle and full grips Mod Lectric XP 1.0 ST Electric Bike @Lectric #ebike #electric #diy #shorts #fun #florida ru-vid.coms7ql9TL0tPU?feature=share
The thumb throttle needed for the 3.0 is different than the 2.0 The 3.0 is much easier to connect electrically. It connects to the 3 wire connector just below the throttle. There are two different wiring orientation available with respect to the location of the signal wire in the connector. Do not remember which one to get just be aware of the issue. I had to send my first back to Amazon and get the other one. If you get an error code when power is turned on then you got the wrong one.
Yes, I do. The first thing that you need to do is to turn on the bike. Then look at the display and hold the + and - buttons simultaneously. The next thing that you would need to do is tap the power button all the way up to 8p. Then hit the plus button so it shows 100 at the bottom. Finally, hold the + and - and that's it. Hope this helps
I installed the 20 amp balancer on both of my lectric 3.0's. I'm going to purchase the H Hailong 10 ah batteries. My question is which battery charger should I purchase ?.
I've purchased the kit for my Lectric XP 3.0, I haven't installed it yet because I don't have an extra battery yet. But I just purchased a Engwe Engine Pro upgraded with an extra battery., I was wondering if this kit would work on the Engwe, they connections look very simular. The batteries on the Engwe are 48v 16ah.
Hi definitely need your kit. I do food delivery would the 48v15ah be too risky compared to 10ah?? Because I’m after extra range. Thanks will be ordering your kit soon and decide on battery in a few weeks. Happy 2023
Does the first battery therefore be required as 10ah because I have a 14ah long range 3.0 step. In other words can I run two 14 ah Lectric longe range batts with this rig??? Please Help !!! ????….@@ElectricAllWheel
Interested to know if you've gotten any feedback on your recommended 48 volt battery. I ordered all the recommended parts for a dual battery system for my Lectric 3.0 and now the backup battery will no longer charge after about 3 charging cycles.
Maybe I’m dumb but are both the Hailong battery and factory battery plugged in at the same time? Or do you have to switch from one battery to the other once one dies? And does the factory battery not stay in the frame with this setup? It has to sit in that long bag on the luggage rack?
The balancer allows them to be plugged in simultaneously. No switch. The balancer takes care of it. The factory battery you saw was an example of adding a second battery connected to the story system with our adapter.
@@ElectricAllWheel oh ok that makes sense now. I thought the factory battery had to be removed from the frame for some reason. Thanks for the clarification.
Hey just curious, trying to buy a kit from your website for my xp 3.0 step-through. But I'm seeing several options, which is most suitable for my bike; 20A or 40A?
I'm interested on extending riding range with 2nd battery for my Engwe Engine Pro. Would any of your kits work and recommend installing on a bike with regenerative braking?
I was wondering with the dual battery balancer I got from you, original battery and bike is 48v 13ah. If I happen to want to connect a 52v as the second battery, would that be ok? Or does it need to be equivalent and/or less

I purchased your balancer a couple of weeks ago but it's been too cold to install it and the Hailong battery here in PA. I'm going to be doing this tomorrow. Was wondering if the Hailong battery would work by plugging it into the balancer and not plugging in the XP 3.0 battery? Or does the bike depend on the key being on with the stock battery? Thanks in advance and looking forward to the extra distance on the bike!
Just ordered an XP 3.0 and an XPedition today. Any chance you can show us how to add another battery to the XPedition? I bought the 2 battery version but could see a need for another battery... maybe a beefy battery larger than the 10Ah you demo here?
Won’t be a problem. The Xpedition uses the same style balancer. You simply plug another balancer into one of the battery ports and then you have the ability to add 3 batteries. You can use an Ah you want just make sure your voltage matches.
Wow!!!!! so great. I'm going to add Lectric 20ah to Lectric 10ah to make a total of 30ah in XP3.0. Which is better to use, the discharge balancer 20 amp kit or the 30 amp kit? Thank you so much.
No need for a 30A kit. The Lectric controllers are 20A max current. This is available from us on Amazon now and we will have more in the store soon! amzn.to/3GYfSxZ
Thanks very much!!! Mine is coming soon as well, Im tired of waiting,lol...That would be nice to run 2 batteries at once instead of carrying a spare...
Hi, great video. I was wondering what would happen if the batteries where connected and had different charge levels and therefore different voltage? Would power from one race to the other?
@@ElectricAllWheel Thank you for the fast response! So then if one battery has more charge than the other then does the device uses the battery with the higher voltage until both batteries have the same voltage?
So is the original battery staying in the bag or going back in the bike??? Is it necessary to take the battery plate off twice because I noticed you flipped it more than once
The video was to demonstrate that two factory batteries can be utilized. Feel free to review other related videos on the channel to demonstrate further applications
Really don’t understand what has happened here. First, the XP battery came out and was possibly gonna be strapped to the rear rack. Then, the battery was put back in. I’m confused. How does this dual battery set-up work?
There are two inputs. With a little imagination, consider that you bought a second factory battery. Then consider that battery doubles your capacity and adds double the amp hours to your bike. There are other batteries out there. So, the video demonstrates that we have an adapter available for your second factory battery, or you can simply buy the recommended battery as a second battery to the factory battery that’s in the frame (the one in the bag)
what if I want to buy two of the Hailong 48V 10Ah battery but I just want to have a dual battery setup. Then use the second Hailong battery as a spare when biking if Im running out of voltage on dual battery setup. Would that affect the Lectric battery or the dual battery setup?
No it won’t affect it. As a matter of fact, that’s precisely why the balancer is the best option. Think of it like a backflow preventer, preventing current flow into the other battery.
@@ElectricAllWheel thanks. Im going to buy the balancer this week and hopefully one of the 10Ah battery this weekend. Would love the downtube battery setup but the strap is not available.
I have xp3.0 and I have standard battery that came with bike and bought long range battery as well. So my question is can I use balancer to combine long range battery with standard?
The batteries should be charged with their own chargers. For ultimate safety unplug your batteries from balancer when charging. The batteries will charge like normal factory conditions when charging. Turn off the bike before charging.
Is there a kit to hookup and use 2 factory batteries, that is, the original that came with my 2.0 and the long range as well I bought from Lectric xp, instead of having to buy the Hailong? Thanks for any info :) great video btw
Yes. 20A refers to the current capacity. Amp hours (Ah) refers to the battery capacity (think size of the gas tank) you can combine any amp hour combination just make sure your voltage rating for your batteries matches the system (48V)
I have the XP 3.0 ST with long range battery (14Ah). Just wondering if the Hailong 15Ah will fit on the spot where you install the Hailong 10Ah. I would love to have the 15Ah because it would give me about the same mileage of my original battery.
Do I need to buy the balancer and extension cable if I decided to buy the Hailong 10Ah and install it on the same place on the video?@@ElectricAllWheel
We believe gotrax uses a rare battery connection between the plate and the controller (you should verify) this means that you would likely need to cut the connection (not good if you are still in warranty)
Great explanation. Curious as to the total mileage that you can get on a full charge with the 2 batteries connected. My only disappointment with my newly purchased 3.0 LR is that I can only get approx 18-20 miles on a full charge and not 60 miles like was advertised. FYI I ride on PAS 3 (15-16mph) and weigh 210lbs.
Think of your riding style as stated. 20miles/14Ah. Since you can add whatever amp hour battery you want (just match voltage) you could easily double your range.
Dude I feel your pain. I weigh 250 and have the LR 3.0. I get like 15 mi guaranteed full charge. Had to get a second battery. Hopefully this works on the 3.0
Would this work on an ebike that has the same build and close to same specifications as well? the bike is euy auloor all terrain..seems like it i will need to open the controller side but connectors looks identical to what im seeing here from the battery and fromn the connector from the frame. I would love if im able to run two batteries to rid of some range anxiety.
We would generally say yes. You’re welcome to send pics of your controller and connectors. Otherwise pick a balancer kit that has your adapters and works with your controller current limit.
@ElectricAllWheel Thanks for the response =). I will definitely try and take the controller out and take pictures. its looking more like it should be compatible =) what settings or numbers should i be looking for on the controller?
You can purchase another battery from Lectric and utilize the adapter if that makes you feel more comfortable. We are aware of 150+ purchases of the recommended battery. We have not had any negative feedback. This number grows daily. We have utilized 7 varieties of the recommended battery and will continue to purchase and utilize them.
this is the 2nd balancer i bought this one had issue going in above the controller as tho the balancer was wider then the first one. It was a fight and i mean a fight but did get it to eventually go in. Don't want to do this again.
Hi electric all wheel, I bought one of your balancer kits a while ago and I'm working on a 2000w conversion on my Lectric XP 3.0. The current limit on the new controller is 45A so the 20Amax balancer kit won't work in this application correct? Do you have a 45Amax balancer kit?
Holy cow Brandon. We do not, but we suggest you try investigating an electromotiv or dateX2. We are all about things for the sake of doing, but that’s a hefty financial investment for $1000 folding ebike. You think the frame can handle it?
@@ElectricAllWheel I'm keeping the power source on 48v not 72v although the option is there. I'm hoping for 35-40mph. I'm optimistic the Lectric's beefy frame can handle the higher power. There is an included torque arm as well.
I just removed my key. You could drill a hole in the side of the battery and bike housing and just flip the key cylender sideways I COULDENT handle it's tediousness
Hey John if I send my email address could you send pics of your conversion? I lost my keys and have my battery locked inside the bike, and this sounds like a potential solution

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. I don’t get it. Seems kind of important on a “dual battery” setup. Otherwise you’re essentially just “carrying” an extra battery. And have to switch to the other once one dies.
So this'll probably be taken down but I'm just saying this company giving free bikes of these people because they got thousands of viewers isn't right that's their marketing idea and I know this happens with a lot of products but I'm really freaking tired of it these people just because you have a lot of viewers they're giving you free stuff to do their advertisement. Just because somebody has a lot of viewers on your channel doesn't make them legit
