Absolutely love my Lectric XP. Bought two of them. Have about 122 miles on mine so far. Getting ready to do some mods (rear view mirrors, utility bar for the handle bar). And -- the customer service I've received from this company is literally the *best* consumer experience I have ever had. These guys absolutely rock it.
We have a pair of the Sena R1`s and we love them. It is so nice to be able to communicate with one another when out together or stream music when riding alone.
@@LyfUninterrupted We were fortunate to find them on sale for 20% off from Erik`s, so I think they were 105 a piece. They were originally about the same price as Amazon. I think they are worth the price given all that you get.
I had the same loose left pedal. But I did go over the bike and tighten them before riding. I read that these pedals have nylon bushings. They can cause friction until they break in. Lectric sent me a new left crank arm right away. Great customer service. We love ours.
Well we pulled the trigger, can’t wait till they get here. Ordered today and can’t wait. We are an older couple so I got the step thru for my wife, and the normal Xp for myself in white. It just looks good. We are also getting some new seats and the same helmets you have as well. Will check your store for whatever we can find. You folks are awesome.

I had been teen thinking about buying two e-bikes for my GF and myself for a while, looked at tons of RU-vid videos, decided on folding 20 inch fat tire for a style, narrowed it down to RadMini or this one, liked the price on these and that they seem good enough for what we want to use them for, watched all Rad Mini and Lectric XP videos I could find especially a couple that compared those two side by side, and ordered a standard XP for myself and a step through for my GF last night. So many videos are biased or based on an opinion created after riding the bike for 5 or 10 minutes. This video by you two talking about what you like and don't like after riding them long enough to get a good feel for how they are was invaluable and I can't thank you enough for making this!

Thanks so much for the great review and the accessory ideas. Like some have already said, I too am in envy of your lifestyle. It’s obviously working out very well for you guys. After months of research online and one video I ordered two Lectric XP Step Thru bikes last Sunday for my wife and I. We’re in our 60’s, I’m disabled since 2008 with failed back surgery and my wife has about 18 months until retirement. After almost dying from medical treatments I went the natural route several years ago and have continued to fight my way back. I’m really looking forward to what I know this bike can do for my recovery, both physically and mentally. Since we live in Maine it will be a short season this year but that experience will help me get through another long winter with something enjoyable to look forward to. We are currently camping at the Outflow Campground that you were at a few weeks ago. We ran into 2 different couples that had the lectric xp. We ordered ours late August but sadly still have not received them yet. It's funny how many people watch these vids that you and others are putting out on this bike, yet they still are surprised by the derailleurguard being bent and can't get past 4th gear, or the loose this and that they are complaining about. If they would watch and actually listen to the useful tips and info you and others are putting in the vids , they might actually learn something. I have COPD and the bike has been a god send to help get me out and about outside. I bought one of there "comfort seats" from Lectric and it's about useless. The holes to mount the saddle bags on to the rack where welded on at an angle, and the threads where so poor I had to retap them. Some friends of mine bought two of them and on there first ride before they even got home they had sold two more to people that they had stopped to talk to. The funny part is the couple that order them are work out nuts and already owned high dollar mountain bikes. I agree if they had of just used Velcro straps to attach it, and added a carrying handle, or better yet a shoulder strap to the saddle bags it would make it handier to carry it around.
Thanks for the review. You said that one of the most common questions you get is, "How far will it go?" You talked about range but you never answered the question. Yes, it depends on a number of things, such as how you ride and where you ride and how much you weigh and even your tire pressure. But you could actually answer the question. How far can YOU go the way YOU ride. Give us a typical case for you, or what is the farthest you have ridden on one charge? Do you get 5 miles to the charge or 50? It's a good question and deserves a good answer. Saying "it depends" is a copout. I enjoy your videos.

Got one just few weeks ago. I have ridden it every day missed 1 day. Super fun! No real complaints about it so far but I'm definitely going to check it over especially the pedals thanks
We've had our Bagi bikes for about a year and just passed 1000 miles. We've biked State parks all over Florida as well as trails and trips to the grocery. We bike almost every day and love the ease of exercising this way.
If you want a really comfortable ride with those better seats get the Venzo suspension seat post. I have a Swagtron EB-8 with mechanical discs and they are very good. No noise and really stop the bike easily from 37 mph and on really steep downhills in the woods. I added a 3000 watt midmotor. The calipers on the brakes are Z Star.
I imagine that some people would buy and E bike and not think about using a local bike shop as a resource. None of your dislikes aren't anything that can't be easily solved by upgrading or handled with a 15mm pedal wrench. They're sold at a price point which explains the rough mechanical disc brakes. Better hydraulic brakes could always be installed. Thank you for the review, I am thinking of buying one for my wife so we can go on rides together.

You Guys started me on my research path for an electric bike that fit my criteria. Long Story Short .... I ordered the Lectric XP it will arrive on December 3rd. The only Con I could find about this bike that didn't fit my personal criteria was the stiff front end forks. That said, my #1 criteria was Foldable and most other foldable bikes cannot compare to the other specs of this bike. Keep up all the Great WORK you guys do. And, Thanks for the review. You two are awesome! We love your videos with your honest evaluations and opinions. My wife and I received our XP's last and are in the process of "getting to know " them. We're very happy with our bikes and look forward to many miles ahead. We like the upgrades to the panniers and helmets, those might be in the near future for us too. I was wondering what type of locks you chose to use? I know no lock is perfect and with so much discussion on the forums about locks it seems hard to choose. Your input would be helpful! @@LyfUninterrupted Hi! sorry for not replying sooner, we are in the PG&E power shutoff zone in Northern California and have been without electricity and WIFI for two days! Anyway, we're still getting to know our bikes but we did add mirrors and more comfy seats (Cloud 9 through Amazon). I am also using Commander 44 gal plastic totes (saw it on RU-vid) to pack both of our folded bikes into the back of our RAV4. The totes keep the bikes from rattling around while hauling. I like the clip on panniers that you featured so that's in the near future! Other than that we're keeping the bikes pretty stock for now. Cheers!

I have had a total knee and found the pedal rotation too tight for me. I can only use it as a fully electric bike. We absolutely love the adventure factor it provides and will be buying a second one. Thanks for telling us about the communication helmets. That will really improve our rides.
Awesome bike. I love riding mine. I get excellent mileage and i keep it on PA1... I hope you don't need to call customer service because even though they're quick and prompt to answer and talk to you, getting them to send you broken or missing parts is a nonwinnable battle.. They suck at that. But the bike is awesome.
Love this video and the helmets with the intercoms. Reminds me of our Harley helmets. We can talk to each other and other bikes. We will have to get these!!
We got our new bikes this week. The bikes were well padded with packing materials and arrived in good condition. They are a lot of fun to ride. Other than climbing a long grade to a ridge top cemetery, I found PAS1 and gear 3 worked well. Mixed thoughts on the saddle bags. My wife is going to work on a modification for a faster on/off connection.
As an update: I now have over 70 miles on my Lectric. It has exceeded my expectations for the price point. I did upgrade to a Bikaroo seat for more comfort. We are using a two bike carrier on the truck for transport. Even folded the bikes are a bit heavy and bulky to easily be stored in our Class A.
Overdrive Sport 2 Bike Rack. It is $212.49 on Amazon. The rack works well, but with both bikes you are near the carry limit. Tilt capability makes is easier to get the inside bike into position. Hollywood (around $440 on Amazon) also makes a good rack that works for fat tire bikes.
We got ours last week and we ( wife and myself) love them. We are able to ride as a couple now and enjoy the time together versus struggling to get back from a long ride. Looking forward to taking them with us to Jekyll island to cruise the trails and beach. I agree with all your points. One thing I don’t like for safety reasons is the “walk” feature. When you hold the down arrow button the bike goes into walk mode. It’s just too easy to accidentally engage it and the bike will just start moving, which happened to me in the garage and the bike started to run up the side of the car. Asked Lectric support how to turn the feature off and they said its not possible. Also great customer support as my chainring was damaged on arrival and I had a replacement crank in two days.

Im a shop trained bicycle mechanic for over 25 years.. With disc brakes, there is a break in period. I will clean the rotors with a mild solvent such as 91% isopropyl alcohol before the initial first ride. Then.. ride the bicycle with the brakes lightly applied for half a block then release the levers .. repeat this several times during the first 50 or so miles of use.. Try to avoid long periods of brake application such as long downhill riding with brakes applied. The trick here is to condition the pads by repeatedly heating them up a little and letting them cool. What happened here with your brake squeal is called glazing. Your pads heated up and actually melted their contact surface. Once it cools it turns into a hardened glazed surface.. hence the chirpy brakes. A small piece of 200 or so grit sandpaper works for lightly sanding the pads. Also clean with isopropyl alcohol and de gunk your rotors with 000 steel wool if your rotors picked up any gum from the pads. This may help the situation. A lot of times, especially with bikes built with low end components, the brake pads are just poor quality out of the gate. Hope this helps someone.
Good review. Thanks. 81 degrees and 80% humidity in Charleston is pretty good. Try 100 degrees and 100% humidity, I live about 100 miles away, close to Augusta GA. Good thing is you don't have to iron clothes. Step outside and the wrinkles fall right out. Normal for last 2 weeks of July and first 2 of August.

For the squeaky rear brakes you can buy some Grimeboss hand wipes on eBay . I wiped both sides of the disk and the squeaks went away for awhile, had to wipe them again but it does work even if it is temporary, I think it's because the disk picks up oil and dirt while riding. anyway, Grimeboss hand wipes are great for getting that grease off your hands !
@@LyfUninterrupted I just replace my Brake pads for New "RESIN" Bicycle Brake Pads and problem solved, are cheap and last a long time, on ebay or Amazon it's easy to replace them. Remember RESIN brake, not metallic. 😉✌
Thanks also for the Sena mention. I added a Sena Bluetooth communications device to my motorcycle helmet in 2016 and it's the better for me than anything before it. The price seems very reasonable, especially considering it's integrated into the helmet and "no assemble required".

We love our bikes also! Our likes and dislikes are spot on with yours (changed out the seats and panniers, added mirrors on the left side, also added a throttle assist lever). The bikes makes us 66 and 69 years "young" again. Easy to ride once you get a handle on the pedal assist and throttle. I have crashed mine about 3-4 times already so don't feel so bad Shauna, I did get one of my crashes on video that I posted on Facebook. Great video on the bikes, ride on and enjoy!

I loved your review and I am looking at purchasing aery similar setup. I have seen enough reviews that I am not particularly concerned with the range even though the battery is on the small side. I also live in South Carolina and I will be 75 soon and I am considering getting 2 of the Lectric XP Step Thru models so I can fold them up and hopefully transport then in my Toyota Rav4. I have yet to see a video of anyone actually putting 2 of them side by side in a small SUV but at 63 pounds they don't come much lighter. I think the most important upgrade for me will be a Cloud 9 seat with a flexible seat post and a phone holder. The other item I've seen is a small electric pump with a USB port that can double as a phone charger and a velcro bag for it that can attach to the battery housing. I was particularly glad to hear your review of the helmet. It seems that most of the competition focuses on fancy lights and barely mentions communication. I plan to ride in the daylight so lights don't interest me. I would love to get some ideas of where you have gone with your bikes. Nobody wants to see an entire bike ride but a few highlights would be great. I have subscribed even though I'm not into RV living in hope of seeing the bikes in action.

Thanks for the video, as a COPD disabled man at a young age, I have been pondering upon getting one for that possibility of hopefully improving my activity level. However cost and health issues Leeds me to think more responsibly. This all depends on my ability to hold a drivers license at this point I am waiting on the states approval and restrictions because of the epidemic 😷. I hope you enjoy your bikes and the freedom they give you, I also like the helmets ⛑ and ask do they offer a music feature? When riding in a group this makes it seem a lot safer. Thanks 😊

You don't need a driver's license to ride them they are technically a class 2 bike and need no license, Or registration or any insurance. I am sure you can check about your state but I think it's almost everywhere.
Great presentation of the XP. Thinking about buying one but I'm still looking into if they are legal in NYS and NYC. They can sell them in NY but it's the throttle and motor size will determine if they are legal to use.
I'm in brooklyn.. u can ride if u are 16 and older without a helmet up to 25mph but after that u need a helmet and have to be over 16 but... the loophole is, these bikes have pedals so its considered a petal assisted bike.. class 2..
Warning I'm from New York as well, this bike comes in a class 2 format however it is also capable of moving up to class 3 once you remove the limits on the speed. 28 miles an hour equals class 3, that's 28 miles an hour with pedal assist and throttle Once you remove the Restriction so that it's able to go 28 miles an hour you must remove the class 2 sticker and reveal the class 3 that is beneath it
Hi, setting the XP to 50 doesn't do anything for you. The procedure is to set it to 45 to achieve the highest speed of 28mph. You can adjust to a higher value but won't increase this limit. The 45 is actually 45 kph which equals 28 mph. Originally, Lectric designed these to go 35mph until they realized this speed would require insurance, registration and licensing in many of the States. I've ordered a new seat as my only upgrade and am awaiting delivery of it. For those complaining about the grips, buy a good pair of bike gloves. Also, for added seat comfort, you can purchase padded bike shorts too. I've taken it on paved, dirt, gravel and off road rides including going through water - handles well. Awesome ebike!
Great review, thanks. I've had my XP since July. First, have a professional check out your brakes because my brakes work / sound good. I bought a pair of small, rechargeable, flashing lights. I love the panniers that came with the XP. I leave them on the bike and keep my emergency equipment in them like my tool kit, extra zip-ties, 20' ext cord, charger, rain gear, bandanas, and other misc. On top of the panniers connected to the rack with zip-ties is my milk crate. This crate is large and lightweight and can hold my weekly groceries. I have a couple of bungee cords strapped to the crate for holding the folded bike together, but most of the time one of these cords holds my water bottle or coffee cup. One of those small rechargeable lights is fastened to the crate, the other light is on my helmet that has a sun visor that is held on with strong magnets. love it. I've put on over 500 miles and seldom even drive my car anymore. So the bike is slowly paying for itself. Customer service is wonderful for the few minor problems I have had. I joined the Facebook group "LECTRIC eBIKES XP Owners Group" and love the endless info from there and really great people. I named my XP "Easy Rider" :D btw. happy riding!!!

Spray some brake cleaner on a rag and wipe down rotor, try and repeat. I've seen that recommended on a new bike prior to riding. Machine oil on the new metal rotor goes into the brake pads.
I saw this video a while back when it came out. So I checked my pedals and, due to derailleur, brake and gear change issues upon arrival, had our local bike shop check and set everything, which cost about $30 per bike. Anyway, when riding a basic trail recently, my left pedal fell off! It wouldn't go back on so I continued on, resting my foot on the pedal arm. Then, while a guy was admiring my bike as I rode past, the OTHER pedal fell off! Okay, that's just embarrassing, LOL. So I rode all the way back using only throttle (thank goodness it's electric and I had enough battery power, LOL). Looking at the pedal arms, the threads on one side were completely sheered off. For the other side, the pedal just wouldn't go on straight. So I contacted Lectric and they shipped out replacement parts... to the wrong address... so I contacted them and they shipped to the correct address. Got the parts. We're boon docking so I hope I can replace the parts myself (looks like I have to remove a plastic chain guard, take the chain off it, unbolt the main cog, remove the other pedal and reverse the process with the new stuff). I've never had pedals fall off any bike I've owned - even had a budget mountain bike that lasted over 20 years and STILL rides normally. Anyway, my little offering of feedback. :)
Sorry to hear about your issues. Sounds like Lectric is responsive even if they made a mistake. Like you, we’ve had many bike over the years and have never had an issue with pedals. Lectric did put a fix into place that addressed the pedal issue so many people were having.
Damn good and helpful video! 👍👍 I'm seriously considering this bike. My take away is replace the seat, pedals, handlebar grips and lights. I'd love it if Lectric offered a higher tier with front and maybe a rear suspension. I live in a large PUD (Planned Urban Development) and a nice community area with restaurants, cinema and grocery store. Frankly, at this point I just went to get outside and fresh air riding on the sidewalks (I'm in Florida with terrible drivers) and on some local trails.
With the growing popularity of the brand, Perhaps they will offer different models in the future. We love ours and find reasons to ride instead of driving our Jeep.

@@DJaquithFL The only major concern I have over time is the battery. They do have a useful life, so will replacements be available?? This is why good battery care and maintenance is critical.
@@LyfUninterrupted .. You seem very handy and if the batteries are 18650's then they're at least conceptually replaceable. Typically they're spot welded which might require new bars www.amazon.com/Nickel-Strip-0-2x8mm-Battery-Welding/dp/B07P3ZCJXT/ .. the only problem is if a controller board isn't properly fused and gets blown. Although as popular as these are I'm pretty confident there will be a third-party market.

I watched the video they made that tells you to check the pedals. I checked them. I don’t recall now which one needed just a tiny bit of tightening, but... the right one came out. Damage done. Waiting for a new one. Made a temporary replacement so I could ride with battery only! Argh.

@@LyfUninterrupted Ditto here...2 bikes and we took them to Parker's Creek Campground and rode about 30 miles this weekend. WAS AMAZING. I even went to the ranger station and picked up a bundle of wood using the nice rack on the back. I did end up with a flat tire after I got home so assume it was a slow leak. We went offroading through the woods so I suspect a thorn or similar to be root cause. I neglected to "slime" the tubes before heading out. Will certainly be doing that now.
@@TimCatZ Sounds like you guys are getting full use of your bikes! We bought some Slime but haven't put it in the tires yet. We also bought self-adhesive patches and a small, compact C02 inflater.
The only thing I could complain about is not the bikes fault. I’m just to short and have to struggle to get on and off. We’ve looked at other bikes for me, but I’ll just remain comic relief for those watching me mount & dismount. It’s a sight for sure! We did order the helmets, and new seat for me, as I had a second back surgery last year. But so far, we love them.
I just want a basic bike that can pull long steep hills on gravel logging roads. That can pack easy under my trucks canopy and have long battery life. Speed is a non issue for me. I am 6’1” so if it fits you good I should be fine. :)
Hi Terry! The Lectric XP would serve you well. Max carrying weight of the bike is 330lbs , so as long as you’re under that you should be good to go. The pure power assist is a great thing when you get tired. On long rides, we typically pedal in mode 1 or 2. On the way home we will often use just throttle as long as there is sufficient battery power remaining.
I've put 130 miles on my XP since I got it in late September; it's a joy to ride, and I don't push it very hard. Have ridden on dirt and on the street; performs just as expected. I too have some dislikes about the bike but relatively minor. The biggest annoyance is that the odometer has a 20% error - when I ride 1 mile, the bike registers .8. The USED to be a setting to correct this, but Lectric has locked it so it cannot be adjusted and they have no fix for it at this time. Rick in Las Cruces NM

They have listened to me but have not offered any option to fix the odometer error. Hopefully I'm one of the few that's affected. I sure wish the readings were more accurate. That said, I usually ride at PAS 1 or 2 and i'm getting about 50 miles between charges, which is just what is advertised, so I'm pretty pleased with that. I can't wait for warmer weather to keep riding - when it's above 60º I try to ride at least 4 miles a day, if only to drive out to the Rio Grande and back home :)
@@LyfUninterrupted Thanks for the leads on the added equipment you have purchased. The bluetooth helmet is a great idea; wish I'd heard about it before I popped $75 for my new helmet. And the Bikaroo seat sounds very cool; the stock XP seat isn't real comfortable for me (6'1 and 155 pounds) and my skinny butt gets "tired" quickly :)
Have you considered adding rear view mirrors to the end on the handle bars? We think that will be our first upgrade. Have you tried riding without PAS. I tried and even in the lowest gear it felt I had an anchor behind me with I hit a slight incline. Not sure if it’s due to the weight on the rear or the size of tires or the motor causing some drag when deactivated. However, going down hill without peddling or throttle the bike picks up speed, I was going close to 25mph before I started to apply the brakes. Our brakes don’t squeak yet but they feel a little rough. If the pads get Glazed that may cause them to squeak. I’m sure there are better pads that could be installed. Do you have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Maybe you could do a short video of loading, tying the bikes down and then removing the bikes. Thanks.
I ran out of battery and had to peddle unassisted for about 7 miles. It’s was a bit of a chore, but doable. We have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I tried to fold both and put them in the cargo area but couldn’t secure them well enough. I ended up putting one in the cargo area and one in the back seat. It’s a bit of a pain but it works. I’m stiff-arming the idea of getting a bike rack as it’s just another thing to take care of. Plus, we like the bikes being protected from the elements and sticky fingers by securing them in the Jeep.

Loved the video but could you post another video going into more detail on how you secure your ebikes when out and about. You mentioned they were locked up as you ate and saw many people looking at them. Also adding any recommendations on specific locks you are using would be helpful as well.
Thanks Kim! One thing we’ve been told is that there is a bedding-in process that should be followed with new brake pads. The process is to get the bike up to 10-15 mph then slowly but firmly apply the brakes to the point of almost stopping, but don’t. This heats the brake pad material and helps transfer a small amount of brake material to the rotor. Repeat this process 10-15 times and many of the issues riders are experiencing will be eliminated.

Dan had already figured it out and told me about it saying it was the ticket after experiencing what posts had mentioned he also put on puncture proof Kenda II Krase tires on it after a few flats the bike rides like a Cadillac happy with the ride. Decided the dog sems like it wants to go so ordered out the pull behind dog trailer 20-inch tires on it at 66 I will really stick out now lol it feels great till I pull upside the Dyna Glide and you know the saying lol .Each have their own enjoyments .

I ordered mine today, April 10, 2020 for May 2020 delivery, and subscribed to your channel. For the most part, sidewalks are the most safe places to ride. El Paso, Texas, is NOT bike-friendly!! ..come to think of it, I've followed cyclists who weren't car traffic friendly too.

Hi Patricia! Exciting news. Congratulations on your decision to become full-timers. The bikes come fully assembled and ready to go. However, the batteries will need to be charged completely before your first ride, which takes a couple of hours if memory serves. The bike weighs about 65 pounds, so you may want to check with your Doctor before trying to lift them. Thanks for watching!
