Great lecture, very helpful! I'm wondering though, is there a source that confirms that aprons were ornamental on the 13th century? Because everything I find for medieval times aprons seem to be purely functional, with a very few exceptions with some needlework decoration on some..
I'm trying to do some research on an apron I found in my vintage fabric stash..it's real folk art style.. Mexican, perhaps..I don't know. There's people stitched on some kind of linen or barkcloth.one of the lady's is carrying a basket with two red birds. The men that are embroidered on it are wearing top hats..and one man is playing a musical instrument (a xylophone)???.....I will send pictures if you would like!
