I'm making a fantasy world and I couldn't really imagine a world without button. Just how hard it would be to fasten yourself with other method. Okay, let's me give you viewer a review in case someone stumble into this wanted to know about buttons. 60% of this is about American button history. 30% of this about pre-modern, late medieval, high medieval, post-renaissance, industrial age stuff. 10% is about before that. I'm not here for American button history, it's fascinating but I'm just not here for those. But I won't deny that this is wonderful.
I keep get each button before i through a weared-out cloth. the cotton shirt can only hold 200 times washes, a coat last for 80 years, while buttons will last for centuries.
I am trying to find out how buttons were made into hatpins. I read when buttons arrived in America they were made into either hatpins or buttons. I was told that the buttons were sent without the shanks because of a tariff was put on the buttons if they were shipped with shanks. I am trying to learn how they were turned into either buttons or hatpins. From what I read this was done with a machine. Do you have any information on any of this information I have gathered from others?
