I discuss Wilson's model, images of sambo, mammy, jezebel, and other images, as well as the evolution of racism from biological to cultural to color-blind. For your own purposes, note Wilson's emphasis on human agency and the psychological elements of the sambo. He argues that African Americans had to play the role of sambo to survive and European Americans had to believe in the image to deal with their own inhumanity.
