You literally made me lol with your unicorn horn comment 😂 I just recently purchased the Therapro Face to wall and it is amazing. I think it’s a six in one if I remember correctly and I’ve been really impressed with the percussion therapy and LED in particular. I’m just getting into microcurrent so I haven’t done that quite as much but it’s got that as well as hot and cold therapy. Definitely a very nice time. But definitely not cheap. Also I would highly recommend looking into some studies on red light therapy actually improving eye health. I have a full body panel I use daily and have for over a year now and I never use safety goggles. I’ve seen many many studies that claim the red light therapy can help improve eyesight and other eye related health issues. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

I love your honesty, Thank you! I was all set to buy the Dennis Gross Mask. After watching this , I will not. It's funny because a part of me was just reluctant. It was like my gut was saying no ! I am 59 and have been researching which one to get. It is so hard to choose when you are on a budget.

I really want to save up for a bigger light to do my body with because the red light really does make your skin glow!! Can't wait to binge all your videos

Such an awesome video, and I especially appreciate you covering the thyroid issue! I've been using the face mask from the Light Salon for about eight months and absolutely love it! It's flexible which is nice for my big face, has comfortable straps, and comes with soft eye guards. My first one broke after a couple months, and they promptly sent a replacement at no charge (I did register my device though). They have a bib that covers the neck and chest that I want next (they have an excellent Black Friday sale every year). The only con is the canvas travel bag doesn't fit the device well, which is odd. I don't travel though so keeping it in a drawer is fine with me. I would love your input on led treatments for scalp (appreciated your rant video about thinning hair). I recently bought an iRestore helmet and feel meh about it. The fit is awkward (I have a big head though), and it feels like a toy for the super high cost. Also, the lights blink which they say is a bonus. I find that weird. I'd love a deep dive from you though on the topic! Thanks as always for the links and citations. It's very appreciated!
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I suspect the red light therapy for scalp might make an interesting deep dive. What I’ve gathered is that, similarly to other hair growth treatments, it’s a matter of finding the right treatment based on one’s needs. I tend to worry the LED for hair growth claims might be exaggerated to a more wide audience than realistically applies (granted I’m biased from that shady email LOL!)

This is one of my favorite topics because I feel like there’s enough data for me to get excited about My investment! I have the Omnilux and have been using it consistently for about three months. You made an excellent point about expectations. I am older but I’m still in my 30s and take pretty good care of my skin. I don’t see big changes but I have noticed an over all evening that was noticeable above what I was getting with say my Tretinoin. I’m also really happy you brought up the thing about eye protection because as someone with light blue eyes I had a really hard time understanding how these masks don’t all come with glasses! I bought several different types and have a hard time getting them to fit tight enough but I couldn’t imagine using them without anything! Outside of my eye sensitivity though I really find all of this fascinating and plan on using my mask on my head and chest as well!! Thank you for another great video!!
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
I originally thought I would have to squeeze the eye protection under the mask - somehow those little $4 goggles fit perfectly on top? I do feel I got incredibly lucky, as I bought a second pair with a slightly different design (as a “just in case” lol) - and those do not fit as nicely.

In your 30's? Hon you are young. I'm in my 50's. But, I do it all:red light therapy, microcurrent device, tretinoin nightly, copper peptides, vitamin C, sunblock daily since I was 24 on my face and neck, Botox since 35, and a small amount of filers. Be careful with fillers, less is more. I would love to be in my 30's again so I want to boost your spirits. The most important thing is preventing aging early is key. Your 30's are right time to start. Good for you. I don't think I look like my 50's, am told could pass for 30's and no complaints.

I did watch that video! One thing that I don't think was addressed enough was the fact that nowadays beauty treatments like botox really distort what we think a naturally aged face looks like. So for instance there was a big thing in the Star Wars community where there was an actress who played a character in a newer film that was canonically the same age as an actor who have played a character in the original trilogy. And people were upset because they felt like the actor in the older movies was made to look too old and they referenced this actress in a newer film as evidence. But it was clear to people who understand skincare and treatments that she absolutely utilizes Botox and fillers among other topical treatments most likely and so they were looking at her thinking that she looked great for her age without realizing but that's not what a naturally aged 50-year-old looks like. The actor from the original movies was a naturally aged 50-year-old. I think for a lot of these younger folks they don't realize how quickly the aging process will happen for them without preventative intervention and they think that the people they see on TV are more natural than they really are so they are overly optimistic that they aren't going to age. I hope this makes sense!
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
That’s a really good point. Especially in the age of social media, where it might not even be fillers/Botox - everyone has access to filters. I think it’s incredibly hard to get a sense of what’s “real” But the other thing I really liked that he mentioned was clothing/hair. It’s a HUGE part of how we determine age, most likely on a subconscious level!
@jumpingbee4717
@jumpingbee4717 Год назад
Genetics is a big component. The reality is that we don't age the same way and beyond the Hollywood "treatment", some people will naturally look younger and others older. Some will have scars, issues and even sun damage. Most of us don't know what we will look like at X age. I agree that Hollywood sets an idealized, almost unreal standard when it comes to beauty and looks, however you do have people who will look younger or have little issues with their skin relative to others, for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with professional cosmetic procedures. To be fair there is no shortage of celebrities including actors who have done things to their face and body which makes them almost disfigured (and I say that feeling sorry for them because it's very difficult to reverse or undo and it must be difficult to live with).

@@AliceintheRabbitHoleok yeah but the problem I had the the vsauce video when he says that and shows a picture of the golden girls as an example. The problem that I have is, I use Photoshop and they did remove their jaws. They change the shape of their jaws and did other cosmetics to their skin besides just hair and make up. Which kind of invalidated his point a little. Like not completely but still. Of course removing someone’s sagging skin is going to make them look younger then just modern hair and makeup up which is what whoever photoshoped that did. It’s subtle sure but I’ve been working in photoshop for 20 years so it was pretty blatant to me….

I receive botox every 3 months and have since I was 36. I will be 40 this month. I do look younger than my age, but genetics also plays a significant role. I also use prescription tretinoin and azalic acid. You should do what makes you feel good! If someone gets mad at me for using botox and fillers, I simply tell them that they need to look inside themselves. Are they happy with what they see? If not, do something about it. We never truly know what others feel or what they do to assist their skin in staying healthy and look potentially younger than it would without t/x. I support whatever you do to help you feel self empowered and happy with yourself! Beauty absolutely does come from within. My mom always said "pretty is as pretty does." I never understood that until I got older. Stay happy and healthy!!! 😊

Hi, can you help me? Today I received the Dr Dennis Gross DRx SpectraLite FaceWare Pro, but the product is defective. In the red light function, it is not 100% red, there are some red lights but mostly lights are orange. Is your mask like that? Best regards, Valkyria.
@masonjeq4261
@masonjeq4261 Год назад
I've used the Dr. Dennis Gross mask for almost 2.5 years for about 9 minutes per day (my strap doesn't even have the same format as yours because its old) but the strap still works fine so it CAN be done... And yes Dr. Dennis Gross sells the eye area separate, though in all fairness they pack a lot of LEDs into the eye mask. I got the eye mask 55% off from Harrods though. In terms of the warranty the 30 day window isn't that unusual with products because the concern is that if you don't register the product it becomes more of a challenge to know that the product falls within the warranty window. As an example its a huge logistics challenge to tell when retailer X sold the product with serial number 123. Many warranties also are not intended to convey rights to anyone other than the original purchaser/recipient, so if I let anyone file the report the matter 2 years later they could have given the product away. All that said, as a customer satisfaction matter many companies will provide warranty service if they can confirm based on the product's manufacturing date that it falls into the appropriate time window. In terms of the masks themselves, I think it's important that the number of diodes, their accuracy to the appropriate light wavelengths, power and closeness to the skin is all important. There are lots of masks that don't contour to the face or have many diodes and I have a hard time believing those provide clinical based proven results. I feel like this is one of those things where if you want results cheap you need to put time in with a smaller device like the Espada that requires way too much work for full face impact but benefits you on specific areas. If you're looking for full face results you need something like Dr. Dennis Gross, Current Body, or Omniluxe. Hadn't heard of Qure, but I trust Alice's review. That said I bet there are cheaper options that work, but I don't know if I'd trust most of them them without doing a lot of research into the devices. Instead look for a sale on devices you want.
@AliceintheRabbitHole

Yep, we are on the same page. Another commenter mentioned something that I’ve been seriously considering: building my own (hilariously I have experience working with LEDs because I used to build lighted hula hoops. I think it might have been in another life at this point though LOL!) The catch is that without bulk pricing, I estimate it would still cost around $200-300 to build something comparable to the DDG mask. However, you would have full control over the specs - which is quite appealing!

I've been using a 40$ led for a few months now. I think it helps with my acne quite a bit. I know it isn't as strong as the other LEDs, but it does help with calming my skin down. If not anything else just sitting down with a mask on and relaxing for 10-15mins (almost like meditation) helps. I would never sit down in silence if it wasn't for my LED. ( My led doesn't have that eye hole, so i must close my eyes) A fun tip I learnt from TATI : Apparently someone she knows keeps their LED on their bedside table. When she wakes up to her alarm, she puts on that mask and doses off again until the LED alarm rings. I still prefer meditating tho. Also alice, what do you think about missha first treatment essence?

I agree so much - that time is my meditation time, and there’s simply no way for me to find that time otherwise! I tried the Missha years ago, and from what I understand, they reformulated? I think your 30s is a more than perfect time to be as proactive about your skin. I was more aware of how the skin changes from the struggle of acne to dry type. I had problematic combo skin in my teens and twenties but after kids my skin changed. At least use good diet, sunscreen and product formulas best suited for your skin type at the moment. I wasn't a sun worshiper or avid drinker but I had friends and relatives who did and they added 10 years to their skin.😮 When you are 50 you will thank yourself.

Most of these devices, she’s talking about have low numbers of diodes Which equal low effects . I happened to use the Celluma pro. There are also other good devices out there. This is a flexible device that can be used anywhere on the body. It has different settings one for acne, one for hair regrowth which very much surprised me does work one for Skin remodeling one for wound healing, which when I had an accident I took photographs on the wound healing that is amazing. I am 72 years old and I look like I am in my 50’s I use it a couple of times a week. My recommendation find out how many diodes the device has that you’re considering buying get the one with the most diode’s that you can possibly afford do not try to go cheap. You will not get results.

Hey Alice I’ve been using the omnilux LED mask since Jan 5 religiously everyday for 10 minutes. I’m in my 30’s and haven’t noticed too much improvement, but like you said it could be because I’m in my early 30s. I thought I’d try using something underneath it like you were saying about using the green tea to see extra benefits. I just recently started using the SKII toner hoping for some miraculous results, but the instructions do say use on dry clean skin, yet when you buy it they tell you to use their serum for enchanted results, by not using it on clean skin and using the toner on my skin I hope it’s not gonna stop working. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Personally, I’m all about the pitera toner (the classic, not the exfoliating). The other products I’ve tried don’t compare - but that’s just my experience! And yep, I use it on bare skin ☺️

I’m mortified to admit that I bought a DDG mask during one of the great sales and haven’t opened the box. I charged it a smidge while watching your video and lay under it for 3 minutes for the first time… I will set it on my nightstand and give it a good run for at least 2-3 weeks, fingers crossed although I’m not sure what I expect to observe on the anti-aging front. Yeah my neck definitely needs more help than my face but what fixes gravity other than the scalpel and I’m not crossing that line yet.

So my omnilux has not had any bulbs go out. When I first got it, the battery controller wouldn’t charge so I sent a vid to customer service and they promptly shipped me a new one. I’ve had zero issues with the device since. I did register my device for warranty upon receiving it, just bc I’m OCD about that stuff but they probably would’ve still sent the new controller anyway. It was brand new.

@AliceintheRabbitHole no! Its so weird. I got the reaction the first time and thought ok, it must be my retinol or vitamin c so I stopped those for a week. Used the mask today with just moisturizer after and same bright red hot skin after. I cannot believe my luck to be one of the only people that cannot tolerate red light therapy 😰😰😰 I will look into returning it. Thank you.

I know it's been a year since you've made this video, but in case you're still checking comments on old videos: one of my questions about LED masks is about the alternative colours (like yellow and purple, etc). People always say not to bother using those because on one hand there haven't been enough studies to show they do anything, and also they just don't penetrate deep enough into your skin. But aren't blue lights supposed to be the shallowest lights of the bunch? And yet, alongside with red and infra red, blue is the colour you're constantly recommended. If the shallowest colour can have benefits why wouldn't colours that go deeper have more of a beneficial effect? Apologies if you have already made a video focusing on this that I just haven't watched yet, and thanks for your very informative content!

blue light kills bacteria, otherwise it is bad for skin and people try to block it from their screens
@noprogressionisregression6854
So a couple of questions, would you recommend one of these for anti-aging? I am 44 and definitely am getting some loss of elasticity, fine and deeper lines etc. But to be honest, I'm aging pretty well. Also I've noticed the nu face is on sale again at Ulta and I'm thinking about using my points to get it. I do have some thyroid issues. What do you think? If you had to choose which one would you choose especially if you could get one for much cheaper.? Or would it be better if simply to save the money and get treatment at the dermatologist?
@AliceintheRabbitHole
@AliceintheRabbitHole Год назад
I’ll start by saying: I think the best anti aging option IS the dermatologist, specifically to get a tret script. If you already have that, it’s the top of the line, research backed approach. For everything else, it depends on your comfort level, your spending, your approach. I like home devices/tools, and I believe in quite a few of them. LED and microneedling have the most research in home devices and yet ironically I would say I’ve seen the most personally *specifically in terms of anti aging* from electrotherapy. It took a couple months to see anything at all, but now I do notice my skin is tighter when I use those devices vs when I stop using them LED does more for me in terms of inflammation; which is critical because my skin type is so darn difficult lol. If someone is dealing with inflammation, that could contribute to the signs of aging (ie TEWL - that can age someone), so that person might say LED gave them the best anti aging results. For all the options, if you can identify WHAT you want to improve upon specifically, I think that will help most in choosing the device that will give the most results. I hope this makes sense! I feel like the interesting thing about this present time is that we lump a whole heck of a lot of concepts into “anti aging” - I wouldn’t be surprised at all if someday in the future we have a lot more terminology to differentiate the components currently lumped into that single category 🤯
@noprogressionisregression6854
@@AliceintheRabbitHole thanks so much for your in-depth reply! Yes that was some good information. So yeah what I gather is you've seen the most results regarding anti-aging from the nu face, but research states that the LED and microneedling should be giving the most results. Well like you always say everyone's skin is different responds to different things. . So fab fit fun is having their box customization tomorrow and one of the things in the box boost is the Dr Brandt's body thing is a box boost option. If they put it at an affordable price, I'm definitely considering it. It's just going to depend on the price. I'm praying it will be available cuz I really want to try it.

I asked the ophthalmologist about it but he didn’t know much about the mask. I stopped using it for a couple weeks and eyes have been better. However I have no problems with the strap. I was noticing my skin clearing up so I’m ordering goggles and going to start again.

I’m telling you - it’s $4, and quite possibly the best $4 I’ve ever spent. The LEDs bothered my eyes from day one, which i attributed to sensitive eyes. At this point, I think it’s just an easy as heck way of minimizing problems for everyone! The same one I bought is linked in the description box (not affiliated since I don’t affiliate Amazon links) - can attest to it fitting the DDG!

Hmm. Thanks for this comment. I know what I’m going for: I don’t want every video I put out to be “buy this today, ok now buy this, now buy THIS!” - hence I always try to point out any potential cons. I want people to buy only what is right for them! But I must have missed the mark as I do like the Espada! I truly believe the intensity is perfect for treating spots - only catch being that if you have a lot of breakouts, it will take a very long time to treat. Works for sure though. Appreciate it - I’ll try to work better on my phrasing ☺️

Your comment about 30-year-olds is hilarious. As a 47-year-old man, I DO find that to be an issue with some content creators. Dr. Dray, for instance, while she provides excellent science-based content, often laments that a product did nothing for her. I'm like, "There's literally no improvement that a product could make to your skin; of course, you saw no difference." I invested in my first LED mask, the 4-in-1 from CurrentBody, and I've seen improvements in just a few weeks. I love the multi-light mapping setting because the red-only setting feels surprisingly intense on my skin, which I suspect is photosensitive to begin with.
