Now that we know what router bit to use, how deep of a cut to take and how the router will push or pull in the Acrylic we are applying what we've learnt to our 2nd sign.
Last video I showed you how I used a windshield banner to create a template for an accurate pattern to follow. I used a sharpie to trace the pattern to the Acrylic piece.
With the router set up with a 6mm bit I simply followed the line at a 1/8" depth, this allows great control for tracing the line while not over working the bit. After the 1st pass simply increase the depth another 1/8" for a total of 1/4" depth. At this point you're ready to cut your Led "Neon" rope to fit your pattern!
Is this as accurate as a CNC router would be? No, of course not, however, it did yield and very professional looking sign that I am quite happy with.
