@Rebeka, i'm a 68 yo Englishman Londoner, so this group was conquering the world in my musically formative years: I saw them live at the 1970 jazz and blues festival at Shepton Mallett [the forerunner to the now legendary Glastonbury Festival] that summer where they were to top of the bill on the Sunday [Pink Floyd on the Saturday]. I thought these were pretty boring, in truth, and have never been much of a fan of their music. BUT it has to be said this song is SENSATIONAL and I am now more into their music than I was back then. Loved your reaction to it, awesome.👍👍👏

"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" is in my select "go-to" Zeppelin songs when I wanna go raw and rock out, and even after all these years, since 1969, this (and almost every) Zeppelin song sounds as cool and fresh each time you play them, which is unique vs. most any other band. That is one of the songs that really showcase plants powerful voice and the level that he can stream but not sound like a scream he just elevates his voice. Still waiting for you to react too babe come on home that song did not make the cut for the first album. But I think it should’ve Robert Plant voice is once again Off the hook powerful also dazed and confused from the same album as well. Led Zeppelin was one of my first musical loves when I really started to discover music outside of mainstream radio at the age of 14. I spent hours and hours listening to their first 4 albums, mostly with my headphones on (because my parents didn´t care for Led Zeppelin and I preferred to get along with them. ) So I heard this song hundreds of times AND I´m 99% sure that this is NOT a live version. It´s the album version. It´s burned in my mind and my memory. This is either a over-dubbed video of a live tv performance or a playback performance for TV. They had to do some cheap promo stuff in their very early days to get some recignition for their first album. And TV shows often would only allow playback. Especially with bands that had such a powerfull and crazy sound that the tv sound technicians didn´t know how to capture that sound properly. But the band very soon reached a status of success that they didn´t have to do TV shows. Or release singles. But wether it´s playback or overdubbed video, what you hear on this video is definitely the album recording.

That rocking part of this song that Rebeka mentioned sounded like the main riff of Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4. This comparison may prove to be a bit controversial as some of Led Zeppelin's critics are really quick to accuse the band of ripping off other bands' sound or melody. As for Rebeka, it would be great if you could feature 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago so you could get the idea of what I'm talking about.

Led Zeppelin often mixed songs with what they called "Light and Shade", slow and mellow and then fast and loud. It was something they liked to do. You may like the song "In the Light", it's not one of their most popular but it's pretty well liked. It has a lot of light and shade and it's also kind of unique overall. I am not sure if there is a live video our there of the song.

Love LZ tops. Canadian guy here and since you like rock and progressive rock why not try Canada's greatest trio Rush. Live songs to check out: La Villa Strangiato, Xanadu, Tom Sawyer, Spirit of Radio, Limelight and YYZ for starters. I think you'll like. They are superstar musicians. Come visit Canada one day if you haven't already. Enjoy your reactions.

You may also enjoy 'Thank You' by Led Zeppelin from their album 'Led Zeppelin 2'. It is perhaps their most beautiful song.

Presumably lifted from American folk goddess Joan Baez, whose supernaturally-high register graced a similar finger-picking arrangement. Not even Plant was going to reach that far!

@Consuelo Patagonia Yeah, they are, but that's supposedly where they got the idea isn't it? And there are similarities. They've just done a rocked-up alternative.
