I believe this song was almost lost forever, but was rescued from a studios trash bin. Talk about a Motown inspired song. Zeppelin can even take you to church. ⛪️
Led Zeppelin still offers a surprise so many years later, another lost classic. There is no one box to fit their music, they were all over with an amazing variety of music and genres including here, surprisingly great gospel, you just never know the bounds of their greatness. Wow, more Zeppelin, how fantastic a day this was! Rock On! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
You probably have one of the original CDs of this. I have the vinyl. They both had the original 8 songs only. Later CDs (which I also have) had the additional 4 bonus tracks for a total of 12, including this track, ”Baby Come On Home”, “Travelling Riverside Blues”, “White Summer/Black Mountain Side” and “Hey, Hey, What Can I Do”.
Why are they hiding songs this is beautiful. Hidden gem. Led is amazing on my god listen to his voice. Thank you this brightened up my day. LED ZEPPELIN IS MAGICAL
theres plenty more that Jimmy Page decided to leave off of the latest remastered deluxe versions of all the albums, do a search for them, its worth it.
Jonesy played piano and Hammond organ on this and Jimmy put his guitar through a Leslie speaker, which helps give it a swirly, almost organ-like sound. Zeppelin still has some hidden gems and I'm glad that even now, they can still surprise and amaze you.
@@helenespaulding7562 Whoa! LOL, hey, helene! I would have to ask myself the same question! I mean, I HAVE heard this many times over the years, but I consider you a even more-drenched - in -Zep fan than I, so therefore I find it shocking. Indeed, almost scandalous! Just kidding! 😉Actually, I envy you, hearing such a splendid non-bootleg/"vault" one for the first time! I still have many bootlegs and "cutting room floor" Zep to go, there's a pretty insane amount of it out there, thank God!
@@helenespaulding7562 Hi Helene; it's on the expanded, remastered CD along with Travelling Riverside Blues, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, and Hey Hey What Can I Do.
@@joescott8877 sorry to disillusion you! 😘. I’m surprised as well. I have heard the others on the re-issued CODA CD….this slipped through my I guess because I don’t actually own any of those box sets. Heck, I don’t even own all the original albums. 😱 😁. Henrietta does, I know. I was a casual fan back in the 70 s, and it wasn’t until the pandemic that I did a deep dive; reactions, every interview I could find, , books, Robert’s podcast series, solo work if Robert’s, JPJ and Jimmy. THAT’s when I became a certifiable Zephead! 😉. I became a fangirl in my dotage! 🙄😏✌️ .
@@helenespaulding7562 hehe, yeah, and of course I'm not "disillusioned," heh, and your deep dive of a few years has demonstrated more "fandom" than mine of the past 40 or so. Like, I doubt I've heard more than 40% of Robert's solo stuff, and far less of Jimmy and JPJ's. I do have about 12 books about them, and hoover up many articles in old glossy mags and internet sites like "Far outmagazine" I still need to make some time for "outtakes" and such, many of which I've heard, but many more I've yet to. And I like listening to a good bootleg now and again. A great guide TO bootlegs, if u don't already have it, is by "Tight but Loose" fanzine publisher Dave Lewis called "Led Zeppelin: The Concert File." Every set list ever from them, tons of cool pics, gossip about how the band felt during certain show nights, things Plant said to the audience, titles of corresponding bootlegs, etc. And pretty cheap, as I recall. Paperback. be sure to get the revised edition if available, if you go that route. But yeah, by far my fave band, dearly though I love many others. Rock on! 🤘😃
Fantastic track fellas!! Is this the end of the Zeppelin rabbit hole?? Maybe we should start over just to do it again!! Lol... great job guys, keep it up... best reactors out there!! Thank you.
@@steveayres49 Yeah, I think there are some select songs, like "In the Mood," "Big Log," "Tall Cool One" (I know earlier Solo Robert better, it seems!) that they would like a lot, not whole albums, maybe, but quite a few tracks for sure!
@@steveayres49- I'd say that album and Fate Of Nations are some of the best material Robert ever put to tape. Lyrically and musically, so fucking good!
I think this was only released in the 1990s with a box set. It sat there, unreleased for over 20 years. These songs were added to a expanded re-release of Coda. I believe you two covered the original tracklist and not the expanded version. You also missed Hey Hey What Can I Do and Traveling Riverside Blues, which were also released with that box set.
Toward the end, it's Jimmy Page playing his guitar through a Leslie speaker. This was recorded for the 1st album sessions. It appears the band chose "Your time is gonna come" over this BANGER.
When Jimmy Page remastered and released all the Zeppelin album's in 2014/2015, each album had a companion disc of alternate versions, unreleased songs, and out takes. It's a gem of a collection.
Was a joy to rewind a few times during the vid and re - live when you guys were especially gobsmacked by this "hidden gem," as I knew you'd be when I saw it in my algos, taking in the gospel feel and all, and the laserlike clarity of Robert's voice!
This is prime time plant. People have mentioned Plants peak voice was pre Zeppelin when he was singing the blues in clubs. He even had more power and a higher range. It is why Page sought out Plant as a member. You can tell by the Houses album his voice was starting to deteriorate which just goes to show the level he was once at and even through a diminished voice he still was fantastic.
@@tektoniks_architects I would second that. The producuction is overall really good and all. Love to see them react to Bonzo going crazy on "Thank You," for example, lol. It's like he and Page with his insane solo are trying to see who can blow the audience's mind the most!
So happy to see you react to this, it's one of my favorites and nobody ever reacts to it! Robert's voice at this age was incomparable, it gives me chills! And JPJ's Hammond, incredible! And to think this was found out in the dumpster where they recorded! It's hard to believe how close we came to never even hearing it! 😱☮️❤️
OHMyGosh i SO **LUV** how YOU two just WoW ya make me **LUV** this even MORE freakin **Luv** your **Enthusiasm** F YEA!!! Thank YOU **Fantastical Reaction** as always when it comes to **MyBelovedOtherWorldlyLedZeppelin** YOU so **Get** them ALL the WAY!!! YAY!!! **ManyPixieHugz&Luvz**
Guys you need to check out a cat named Mike Bloomfield, the album is called "BETWEEN A HARD PLACE AND THE GROUND". Sample any cut you want off that album, you cant lose. Mike Bloomfield once wore the crown until a young man named JIMI ( yeah that JIMI) came along took away that crown and took it to his grave. Mike Bloomfield is still known to this day as the godfather of the white boy blues. Gentlemen this is a guitarist you need to know, not have to, neeeeeeeed toooooo!!!!!!!!
If you like peak power Plant voice, check his pre-Zep stuff (he had about 6 songs recorded. "Our Song" is my fav). Also, from the Zep era, try "How Many More Times", live, Spokane '68 (Gonzaga University; their first recorded concert)
Bought the actual vinyl record when CODA first came out in 1982. First time listening to this song. Got the album still storage somewhere. Thx gents for the reaction because I felt the same way. Wow!!!!
they can do it all my friends, theres some other amazing unreleased zeppelin tracks that would blow your mind, they arent hard to find on you tube: She left, Fire , Swan Song , as long as i have you , are just a few, theres more
Definitely a banger from Zep and amazing that it got left off the first album. I have a theory about why it was omitted, but as far as I know it's not grounded in any fact. The Guess Who was just getting big at the same time. If you listen especially in the first part of the song, I think Plant sounds a hell of a lot like their lead singer/keyboardist Burton Cummings (or vice-versa) and the backing vocals and instrumentation also sounds a lot like The Guess Who around this time. Maybe if they heard the same thing playing the track back after recording it, they decided to shelve it.
JPG is certainly the key, Plant could queue up a legendary rant, Page could rock it in any old age and Bonham was a genius anytime he was on em! Sorry for the silly rhymes, but they will always be The best of all times ❤❤❤❤
Hey guys I remember seeing a interview with Page and Plant and they both said that this was the first song that they recorded. After they had finished, they did a play back and thought that it was really good but that they did not need to have any backup vocals all that was needed was Robert to sing from his soul. when they were ready to do the final work on the album, they decided it did not match up with the rest of the songs they had put down.
It's a rehearsal tape (take 3, I think), lost is a trash bin for ages. There are some rehearsal tapes on RU-vid worth watching. My fav is "Love Me / King Creole"
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5mM-snFv7EI.htmlsi=izmkVUy6MoJ21iUJ There are way more that didn’t make it…early versions like this one that I love Everybody Makes It Through(In The Light)
I like you guys the best . just a white girl stoner from the 80's here. my older brothers and friends would come over with all the latest albums classic dude lol :') my one brother liked Zappa. No thankyou No can do (hall n oats haha)
Such a cool track, but you can see why it didn’t make it on the debut album. You can also tell Page and Jones did a few soul sessions in their day as well.
Pictures at Eleven. Saw the tour in Memphis. Robbie Blount on guitar. One of the best concerts out of hundreds. Was reminiscing about a Kinks concert in Knoxville in 83 tonight. Much much different in concert. Dave Davies 70s blues rock guitar killed us. So.unlike their lps. Off topic. So.
I know their studio catalogue up and down. Seek their live versions when I can. But got to hand it to you guys for bringing me one I never heard before. Phenomenal. If as you say, it's a 1st album outtake, I can see them leaving it off. It's missing the Jimmy Page signature virtuosity. It's also SO gospelly, it probably wouldn't fit in, and it might confuse people about the direction they are going.
Thanks for analyzing the song friends. When a track of this caliber is left off the album is when we see the band's level of excellence. Jimmy says that the song was left out due to the unsatisfactory backing vocals (??!) and because it was too light compared to the rest of the album
Thanks for explanation. I can understand those Reasons. Jimmy wanted the first album to be “punchier” and show new directions but thus is straight up gospel blues. And the backup singing, although the harmonies were great, I caught an almost “hammy” feel in places ….like they were “taking the piss” or doing it tongue-in-cheek. So I get it.
I had the same reaction when I first heard this in the 90s - how the hell was this not on the first album?! It's a cover tune, though, so they probably didn't want to release a tune that gave them no royalties, LOL.
Oops, I didn't think that there is a Zep song I don't know and it's really great and so bluesy full of soul, very much like an early Rod Stewart song. I wonder who is singing in the background. As I just read it's not clear if it's really the other band members or maybe studio musicians/singers.
