The person assuming that Bring it on Home is basically a drum solo obviously doesn't know Led Zep very well, the song he is referring to is Moby Dick from the same album
Robert’s intro and outro vocals and harmonica are meant to invoke the birth of the blues in the poor rural south, no doubt in the style of one of the great black bluesmen of that bygone era.
This song is the reason I am a harmonica player. I started from scratch learning to play it, and by the time I learned it, I could learn almost anything!
You seriously have to watch this live Royal Albert Hall 1970 to REALLY appreciate it! Brilliant concert and I believe it’s on Led Zeppelin RU-vid channel. Would be great to see your reaction.
Great tune! Great reaction. On tour, JPJ played bass on foot pedals when on the organ and sometimes when playing mandolin. Thanks - sending you something on Patreon 😁 ☮
At the beginning, Robert Plant's voice sounds strange because he is playing the harmonica and then singing into the same Mic that he's holding for the harmonica (typically people use a Shure "Green Bullet" for this purpose) . . It's difficult to sing clearly while juggling the mic, the harmonica and sing all at the same time. . . That's probably why his words seem 'slurred" or indistinct.
Robert Plant was influenced by great blues down by the Mississippi Delta…..in the fifties….one of his influences was Sonny Boy Williamson…..great Bluesman…
I may disconnect from this channel occasionally but I do apologize and try to come back. I think it was Ween that brought me here and I thank you for that.
