@@KissMyFatAxe Especially because everybody has their moment to shine: starting with Jimmy & this iconic riff and wicked pentatonic solo, Bonzo and his triplets, JPJ with his solo interludes, and of course, Plant's blistering vocals. What an introduction to a band.
1 more thing that torpedo is a Zepplin. They were around in ww1. They ceased to exist I think it was the 20s or 30s. There was a terrible accident. The Zepplin blew up in mid air. It was a super roomy air bus situation that was powered by fire and hot air. Google it. Lady Zep Head NYC
I’m laughing because when I was a kid, our only option was to put on the record, look at the album cover and hope they included lyrics. 😂 But it makes you really listen.
That’s a zeppelin.......yeah...a blimp. They were actually a luxury way to travel in Europe and transatlantic for a time in the thirties And then, in an infamous and horrific accident, one of them crashed and burned while landing in the US. You can see video of it Just type in Hindenburg on RU-vid and you’ll see the news footage. The picture on the cover of Zerpelins first album is a picture of The Hindenburg in flames
@@ROMsquad Also the man who started the company that would become MARVEL Comics had a ticket for him and his wife to go on the Hindenberg. However at the last moment something came up and they didn't get on the Zeppelin.
I went to school in Lakehurst NJ where the Hindenburg crashed while I was in the Marine Corps. We marched across the apron where it crashed going from the barracks to our daily training class. It was kind of eerie at first, but after several times you stopped thinking about it, especially when you was still half drunk from the night before with only an hour or two of sleep. Actually I think I sleep marched half the time lol
I’m glad that you are starting from the beginning. It is truly the best way to see how special this band was then is now and forever will be. The greatest band to ever grace the stage
Sir this was their first album n they were literally kids!!! If you travel the long n winding road of their discography OH THE WONDERS YOU WILL HEAR 🔥💯 THANKS you made my day❤️
Trust me us old timer rock-n-roll folks can’t stand the new stuff either. I quit listening to rock after Creed, Daughtry, Shinedown, 3 Doors Down, etc in the early 90’s and early 2000’s. It’s crap after that. Now I spend most of my time living my child hood dreams of learning how to play guitar and learn the music I grew up with. 🥰🎸 Thanks go helping us keep good music alive!✌🏻&♥️ Dude
@@gailsimmons5270 sounds like we might be similar in age......I felt the same way until I discovered symphonic metal......Nightwish specifically.....and also the singer/songwriter Aurora......sort of like the current Joni Mitchell, if I had to make an analogy. And I gotta say Greta Van Fleet is keeping that classic rock sound alive....it’s just a niche market now instead of mainstream. The mainstream stuff is, as you say, now mostly crap.
You are correct, this was the first song off the first album; it's not hard to find the song lists so don't worry. Bonzo and Robert were both 21 when this album was released in 1969. Even though both had played in other local bands before (Robert even cut a single, I believe), they were newbies to the industry as a whole, in general. John Paul Jones (real name John Baldwin) was 23 and Jimmy Page was 25. Both JPJ and Jimmy were pros; both had come up through the session musician scene. Jonesy had toured a little bit in bands as well (even coming to America once, I think) while Page had played in local bands before becoming a session guy then finally joining The Yardbirds (2 other famous guitarists also made their way through The Yardbirds - Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. For a brief time, both Jeff and Jimmy played in The Yardbirds at the same time) where they toured all over the UK, US, and other countries. The smartest way to go is in album/track order so you're doing the right thing.
As far as your disappointment at the end of the song........... Cuz it Flows right into the next song on the album!! While back after your first couple of reviews when you asked what song to do next, said start at Zep 1 and work your way through. Sure others have said the same. Very pleased you're about to embark on a fantastic journey. Will be able to see how the band always moved forward and progressed. Wish you well my friend!
That torpedo thing is a ... wait for it.... wait....it's a Zeppelin 🤯. Robert Plant left a previous band to join a new band. His previous band member told him they'd never amount to nothing and the band would go down like a Lead Zeppelin. So they chose the name Led Zeppelin. At least, that's the story I've heard over the years.
Jimmy was helping Jeff Beck record Beck's Bolero back in 1966. John Paul Jones was also there and so was John Entwistle and Keith Moon from The Who (both weren't too happy with the Who at the time). The idea got thrown around about forming a supergroup. Moon said it would go down like a 'lead balloon' and Entwistle said "more like a lead zeppelin". Although there is still speculation as to who said lead balloon and who said lead zeppelin. Anyhoo, Jimmy remembered the name 2 years later and through it was great...1. because it was a piss take, and 2. because it also described their music perfectly with the light/heavy connotation.
@@danielcarmichael8961 That's awesome! I heard it was Plant and former band members. However, your version sounds very plausible, actually more likely.
@@mattiefee but that's the thing about old school rock n roll. There were so many different stories told and everyone was probably a bit hazy to say the least : ) And for as bad as Jimmy got with the substances, I'm just glad he was so meticulous in regards to Zeppelin's legacy. He knew they were gonna be huge and documented just about everything.
@@ROMsquad 100% my friend! There's a new documentary in the works from the band coming out soon, but if you get a chance to watch any Zeppelin doco's on youtube, check one out. Their story is just as amazing as the music they made !
When i was a sophomore in high school I was into pop music/disco whatever you want to call it. Myself and a friend were talking about about the latest song on the radio during lunch and a senior got up walked over to me pointed his finger at me and said Led Zeppelin 1 song 1 and walked away. A couple weeks later I was at Tower Records and that seniors words came back to me so I bought Led Zeppelin 1 went home droped the needle and this is the first song I heard and I've been a fan ever since.
If you missed it, Soul Train Bro went through all the albums in order, then all the official live recordings, all the official video releases, several famous bootlegs, the Page/Plant No Quarter MTV u plugged video and is now heading into their solo careers. Most complete Zeppelin analogue of any reactor.
And guess what i think Zepp is going to be the first Artist to do 100k on the channel. thank you for trying out new things you are inspiring me no word of a lie thank you for being just awesome
ok every sunday im dropping an Lz and if i cn during the week i will im a truck driver so my weeks are 14hr days but if i dont drop in the week always on sunday
Yea that is the Blimp The Hindenburg that caught on fire in New Jersey in 1937 ....Jimmy took the picture and had it modified.. / There is a young Japanese Girl that plays the drums to this song an she doesn't miss a beat ..
I was 19 when this album came out. I went to visit a friend in his dorm room in college, and he said, "I've got this new album I think is going to blow you away." But first, he said, we have to do a little preparation. So he brought out a doobie and we smoked it and got fairly high (pot wasn't nearly as strong back then), and he puts on "Good Times, Bad Times". Mind you, I was used to the Stones, the Kinks, lots of Soul Music - but nothing had prepared me for Track 1 of the first album of Led Zeppelin. You don't usually have that experience with 1st albums, not like that. I was more than blown away, I was transported into a new world of musical experience. It was beyond awesome.
Hi from New Zealand. I have watched all your reactions for Led Zep and Pink Floyd in one day, because I have so enjoyed seeing your face light up in appreciation of music that's been the soundtrack to so many people's lives for the last 50 or so years. My kids grew up listening to classic sounds because we as parents didn't give them much choice, we played what we loved, but now they're adults too and I hear them play Floyd or Sabbath, Queen or Led Zep in their car or on their phones and I know the magic lives on in them and people like you too RDiss, right at the start of your classic rock journey, enjoy every moment, its a wild ride.
I think starting bat the beginning is a great idea. You should check out their first television performance. It was recorded live in 1969 for a Danish television station to promote their first album and introduce the band to the public. They performed on a tiny stage in a small room in front of about 30 or so kids who sat in stunned silence. The band had only been together for about 5 or 6 months, Robert Plant (singer) and John Bonham (drummer) were only 19 or 20 years old, John Paul Jones (bass) and Jimmy Page (guitar) were only 23 or 24 at the time. The entire promo concert is about 31 minutes long and includes 4 songs. Their performance has been hailed as one of the most pivotal moments in Rock history. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k-WSbMW7BPc.html
thanks you remember the very first song i did stair way its going to be the first video ever to reach 100k on the channel shows how strong this musicianship still stands the test of time😃
Loved this reaction bro❤ I think I was one of the listeners who suggested to start at the very beginning and work through their albums, that way you get to appreciate more their growth as a band and the change in their sound. Yes, excellent pickup regarding The Beatles, as being recorded in 1968, the fab four were obviously a massive influence across most levels at music at the time. There is certain "pop" feel to it but with an obvious heavier edge and the "thunder" which Led Zep were to become famous for👍
I think Roberto was ripe old age of 19-20 years old. Listening to this with you I’m realizing for LZ this is much more a typical structure & length of a (less than) 3 minute “pop” song.
i know usually i cover there lives those go on till you get your fill fam . I never heard of this band i usually react to hiphop but this band influenced alot of great hiphop records almost every song was sampled
You want to see the BEST drum solo in HISTORY???? Then you have to react to Moby Dick LIVE by Led Zeppelin which is about 50 years old!!! NOBODY can play the drums like John "Bonzo" Bonham!!! This is the live version that has BLOWN AWAY every reactor, reacting to this live video!!! All I can say say is buckle In your seatbelt and prepare for the ride OF YOUR LIFE!!!
do you listen to Zeppelin like, in your car? You seem like someone who appreciates those guitars enough to make this part of your regular music diet offline? smooth reaction, loved it
Check out Led Zeppelin: Live on TV BYEN/Danmarks Radio [Full Performance] video from start to finish. It's half an hour long but worth every second. 1969 march 17 Led Zeppelin performing 4 songs from their first album. An amazing 'must see' performance.
LED ZEPPELIN I GOOD TIMES BAD TIMES YOU SHOOK ME DAZED & CONFUSED YOUR TIME IS GONNA COME BLACK MOUNTAIN SLIDE COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN I CAN'T QUIT YOU BABY HOW MANY MORE TIMES This will be awesome. As you commented in an earlier reaction. Every song has a different "feel" than the previous. The earlier songs are a bit shorter. Do 2 at a time :)
I'm going to Jazz Fest in April and Robert Plant will be performing! I know it's not as exciting as seeing the full band in the 60's/70's but I'm just happy to be in the general vicinity as him!!!!
Man you’ll definitely love Deftones. Abe has a hip hop influence in his drumming and Chino’s voice is epic. Checkout the song Digital Bath for awesome drumming. You’ll also love the drumming from Neil Pert drummer from Rush, and Danny Carey drummer from TOOL.
I saw Zep live back in 1970 when I was 16. Awesome! Please check out Rush. Tom Sawyer official video is a good place to start. Neil Peart the drummer on the same level as John Bonham and Neil was also the lyrist for the band as well. Zep was one of their influences but they have their own sound. They are Canadian. Please check them out. Cheers 🇨🇦✌
Those fadeout songs are because they're a live band, mostly, that's how they're thinking. In concert they'd just keep jamming until they found the end. So the studio track is more like a sample of the music they promised to play in concert, a tease for radio. Live, just one song might be a whole set, usually three, but they also played long shows. Old school concerts went three to four hours minimum, longer if a crowd wanted it and the venue let them.
Da GOATS....PERIOD! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 that’s old Bobby boy, only one voice in Zep! That’s the problem with the album cuts😂 these albums were meant to be listened to, straight to the end.
One of my all time favorite bands ... there are a lot of “stories” or what they would call these days “conspiracies” around albums like houses of holy .. it’s all in the cover brother ...
thank you omg you guys are awesome i appreciate you thank you. You are another one that is an inspiration trying out different things thank you.i promise every sunday a LZ
My favorite bands, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, etc. Still waiting for you to do the WHOLE Pink Floyd Pulse Concert from 1994 ! Also some live Tull !
Their contract with Atlantic changed the face of the record industry because of the control the boys insisted they had over everything. I managed to get that story into a presentation on creativity for lawyers that I gave in an interview I had last week, together with that photo of them leaning on the Starship ... :)
OMG I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ YOUR REACTIONS, RDISS!!! Yep, that was definitely Roberto all the way thru the entire song. IDK if you're on the right track or not as to song order, but IDC... and I'm too lazy to check..😁😁😁 If you keep up the Rock reactions, man you've got some good damn music ahead of you. 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️💥💥💥
Here are some zep songs I think you would really enjoy: Fool in the rain Trampled Under Foot D'yer Mak'er House of the Holy Song remains the same Dazed and confused The Ocean The crunge Rain song All of my love Four Sticks Misty Mountain Hop What is and what should never be When the levee breaks Since I've been living you Many more, but I see these being ones that would catch your ear for grove , bass and drumming.
Great reaction! Your gonna hear so much that reminds you of....... But that's bound to happen when you dive into one of the most influential bands to follow the Beatles. Put those two along with Pink Floyd and that's you holy trinity 🤣
track 1 side 1 album 1, welcome to led zeppelin! check out the triplets on the bass pedal. thats a SINGLE pedal and drum!!! robert and bonzo were 20 years old when they did this album
The studio versions always seemed to end too soon. Probably why they "jammed" on & on in concert. Gotta give the fans what they want! lol The Mighty Led!!
I think you already did "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You". This song fading out, and slipping into that next track is really great. Listen to them both together if you can.
I think you may be ready for some Stevie Ray Vaughan First tip, always do live Second tip try to not let your jaw hit the floor Suggestions include: Voodoo Chile live in Nashville Little Wing (Live at rockpalast 84) Pride and Joy (live from Austin) Look at little Sister Texas Flood (live at Montreaux)
Put on the cans and listen to the triplets Bonzo plays on the bass drum. The SINGLE bass drum. With a regular pedal, not a double-kick. Another great drummer of the time, Carmine Appice, played triplets on a recording that Bonzo heard and thought, I HAVE to learn that. He didn't realize that Appice did it on a double-bass drum
They didn't release singles (accept for one from this album, but not their wishes) so their songs leave you wanting more, but then they flow into the next track. They wanted people to listen to their whole album
