@@alexbowman7582You missed the whole point of the 60s & 70s-it was NOT about precision and perfection. It was a Vibe!! Like it or not all four were master musicians that Rocked the world!!
Jimmy page is one of the most captivating soloist the rock world has ever known. Daring, spontaneous, melodic, bluesy, diverse, flashy, breathtaking, and yes sloppy . That's the best part , the sloppiness , the ability to play with heart and feeling , the master at improvising . Who said that rock n roll had to be played perfect . Page may occasionally crash and burn, the next moment he's soaring to unprecedented heights. Yes, that's why he's my favorite guitar player of all time. Long live ZEPPELIN , GO PAGE 🎸
Right out of the gate, these guys were at their peak playing ability. They never sounded better than they did right here. They may have created better music later on, but this was the time to see them live.
I went to see Zeppelin in Philadelphia in 1969, the show included Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, Jethro Tull and Al Kooper. I got front row seats at the door for $6.50. You can't even buy a beer for $6.50 these days.
This always was and still is my Favorite L.Z. album...The genius in Page to self produce this mixture of raw vocals and pounding drums ,with his and Jonsey's already refined expertise...set the world on fire...I don't care who they borrowed from...or "stole"...Zep 1 became all theirs...Stardom was an absolute certainty...Their 10 year reign was unmatched by ANYBODY
Led Zeppelin performed their first public concert at all in Denmark as ‘The New Yeardbirds’ on 7 September 1968 in Gladsaxe Teen Club near Copenhagen - the group was only one week old, and they rehearsed (Yeardbird songs?) all afternoon. Before the concert the organizers were a bit disappointed that it was not the original Yeardbirds, but only Jimmy Page with a new band. After the concert they were not disappointed at all. Next time Led Zeppelin came to Denmark, as you can see, they still had to introduce them selves, because the first LP was not out in Europe yet. I remember seeing this on Danish Television back then. For years I thought the recording was lost. Fortunately it wasn't.
That's when I saw them - 5 July 1969 1st Atlanta Pop Festival front and center stage! And THIS is how they were - and I was changed FOREVER. Of course they played this.
John Bonham and John Paul Jones' tightness during the violin bow solo is just outstanding. That is quite possible the best rhythm section chemistry I have ever heard.
If we could have somehow preserved Robert's voice for the entirety of his career...man...can you imagine him singing "Achilles Last Stand" with this voice?
@@Deebz270 Led Zeppelin is one of my all time favorite bands, but Jimmy is 100% correct. As time passed, Plant wrote studio vocal checks that his live voice couldn’t cash.
Oh Goddddd the Hair!!!!! It's almost got a life of its own. Plant 20??!!!!!! I've seen Zep 3 times in my life so yeah, I'm old, 62. Bonham on drums, just as it should be. Some of the best times of my life. Wish I could have paid more attention and gone to more shows but I was just a very young teen. I wasn't even supposed to go the other times when I did. My cousin who, thank God, prayed at the altar of Zeppelin and bought me my tickets cause I had no money back then, just 16 or fifteen I believe. Cousin had a job he was 18. Thanks Richie. Miss you too. Led Zeppelin forever in my heart. Best days of my life.
12 minutes of absolute gold. John Paul Jones and Bonham in the back with that Groove, I still say Jimmy Page sold his soul to the devil for guitar lessons, and plant with that voice , that amazing voice. This is back when musicians were musicians, and these guys were the absolute best. Unfortunately Led Zeppelin's albums were shortened commercialized versions of what they could do, but their live performances are nothing short of fucking amazing!!!
@@mrromantimothy What did you say Donkey? Now you say what donkeys say Donkey. I never heard Howlin Wolf sound like that. That's what I say. Who do you like and who did they "rip off". I love RobinThicke Good Girl, but damned if those greedy Gaye kids didn't sue him because "it sounds like". Which band wore theatrical make up first. Shouldn't all the rest pay? What about the shit that is happening today. Get over it. I started playing because I wanted to be Bonham. Should I pay back every cent I ever made as a drummer? Go back far enough and there is a person who played the first chord. Does every musician since owe that person? I've just vented at a mindless Donkey 😟
I had the honor of being backstage for their last concert as Led Zeppelin. First concert I'd ever been to totally straight, and left so high I couldn't come down for days. Meeting Page was surreal.
It's funny how casual those people are about watching this without knowing they were present at something that would still matter so much 50 years later
Remember they are most probably radio workers and their friends since this is a radio recording - they can not make noise, and concentrating on the music.
Could be found on Danish radio home page for some years. The take is made in Copenhagen. A miss Zeppelin forbid Them to performe under that name .. so They have to chance for a day🤖
Какие же они здесь все молодые! Как давно это было! Но даже сейчас, в 2024 это божественно! Как они слаженно работают! Таланты, все, как один👍 СУПЕР👍 БРАВО👋👋👋
This is my favorite live and studio version of this song, it encapsulates the power, intensity, speed, range, vibrancy and just sheer awe-inspiring explosiveness that Led Zeppelin can muster in one song... musical perfectionists.
+CARPE DIEM - thats how all these late 60s english rock bands were Musical Perfectionist NOT LIKE Gaga and Aguilera of saying " You look pretty and Im pretty, lets go make music" ...Oh hee-hee...give me a break. Perfectors you said it.
+Francisco Almeida I think his point was that not just rock n roll but 'good' music in general was in the mainstream or popular in 60's whereas now there's an overwhelming popularity of vapid music
+CARPE DIEM I definetely agree that mainstream music back them had a better quality, but he is saying all bands back then were like that which is not true.
desolationrow Be it a partial cover or not, this “performance” is the salient aspect of my commentary. I offer my condolences on your inability to find joy in a positive reaction by a complete strangers thoughts and opinion.
The best band EVER. They were all legends on their own. I could listen to John Paul Jones's groove on this song all day long. It doesn't get any better than this.
I cannot imagine what (looks like) college kids sitting in a bar listening to the 'fledgling' Led Zeppelin!!!! That close, & just nodding their heads!! WOW!!! Just seeing that one song, .... just KILLS me!!!!! Dont I wish I could have been there!!!! ..... LOVE LED ZEPPELIN !!!! ❤️ ♥️ 💙
I can't either. Most people think The Beatles were the best group ever and to be sure Lennon & McCartney were incredible song writers but Led Zeppelin were insanely awesome muscians.
I love how everyone is just listening, full attention. Today it be screaming with iphones out and not getting the music in your soul. You can't feel it if you don't receive it!
Let’s remember Plant is only 20 yrs old here. What a f**king voice. When God is singing a song up in heaven he sounds EXACTLY like Robert Plant did/does.
This never grows old * 4 best musician's in the world came together this will never happen again ! They can take you for a ride and back again there totally in control love Jimmys guitar introduction and Bonhams drums. My favorite video definately of any band. Thank you guys for giving us the best music of our lives ! Rock on folks...
@@alanhobbs7048 yeah, then Zepps came along and blew them out of the water, Greatest front man, Greatest guitarist, Greatest bass player, Greatest drummer.
@@alanhobbs7048 yes , Cream had the rock gods by the nuts in the late 60's . But Zeppelin took it to another level. The first true Rock n Roll super group that could do it all .
There can only be one word to describe Led Zeppelin; musicians. Everything works so perfectly, they are so well balanced. Even when Jimmy is playing his solo, it's impossible to block out and forget JPJ and Bonham. No one is overplaying or outplaying. it's like perfect harmony exists between them, you can individually hear each members talent.
My first album . Mom went to the record store and bought me Led Zeppelin 1 and the Beatles greatest hits . Music is so important in my life . Thanks Mom
@@alamo3955 Same. My mum bought st peppers for me and dark side of the moon just because she thought i should listen to them. She never had the albums. good old mum.
They and Pink Floyd were the best bands for leaving each other space, but Zep were the kings of "dynamics", where they would all stop so you could really hear the solo (You Know You Shook Me), or two would "punch" the same note.
Jimmy smiles at Robert 10:49. That smile sums up Led Zeppelin. Watch out. I can't imagine the chemistry they felt and knowing they had something so special as a band.
yeah, maybe, Pink Floyd and Rolling Stones are pretty good too.If Black Sabbath was considered rock and roll, I would have to disagree with you. Cheers to your obvious good taste in music brother.
I was drummer in a hot Long Island band when Zeppelin's 1st album came out...We were blown away. 30 yrs later I hung out in a club in NYC with John Paul Jones he was a great guy and humble.
Right from the start Page & Plant had synchronicity together. Page would hit a note Plant would mimic it back and forth. In this video Zeppelin still has that beginning band humility.
Plant said "I let Introduce Led Zeppelin to you" that day, i said to my son "I let Introduce The GREATEST BAND that GOD ever created to you" nowaday...
I remember sitting in my friend's 1957 metallic purple Chevy in 1969 listening to this, stoned out of my head, just cruising n rocking out, I was 16 and all was right with the world.. We called Zeppelin heavy, that meant real deep n awesome.. They weren't what we considered some want to be cool band's, bubblegum music.. Good time's!! 🎶🤘🎵
+booby b why should they ? how could they ? of course this is million times of anything of today's vacuous stuff, but rock is now history, has become classic music.
Most simply, no-one does Mozart anymore so why should they do Led Zeppelin ? Music is a form of art therefore it is generated within its own time. Can't see much talent in "facebook" generation really ...
Bc Jimmy was there own producer and can do whatever the fuck he wants. Other producers want the guitarist and drummer to play perfectly every note. And face. It rock and roll is out of the popularity time lol xD I love Zeppelin but if they where from this time. They can't compete. Due to everything being technical and shit. Like no body even knows who Paul McCartney is! When he got kicked out of tygas party lol. Music is constantly changing. Rock WAS music back then bc you couldn't make a lot of beats on the computer like now. All we had then was guitars and stuff. It's just the sad truth :(
They had just written the first album, then went to Denmark to play it live...like practice it....so this is one of the very very first recordings of a live Led Zep performance.... Could be THE first...then returned to the USA and they had blown up. Great story. I am 69.... man what a time that was . I had the pleasure of spending 3 years in Vietnam (1970-73) so .....I remember coming back and man soooooo much of the music had changed.
Ive been.a LED HEAD for about 43 yrs and as much as Id love for them all to be here with us I know where your comming from they would never be as raw heavy and. as perfect as they are right here its a shame when bands become just a novelty acts
The Singer does his Own Song , his own Rhythm , which fits Perfect to the Song , Bass and Drums are Playing one HELL of a Groove out of the Instruments , and Pagey´s Guitar ...SO COOL .. I Mean ., THATS Led Zeppelin , the Greatest Rock Band Ever , till Today , they are the Kings of Rock
I heard Zeppelins the first time when my brother played it. I “borrowed” his album everytime he went out! They’ve been my favorites since that date (about 50 years ago).
Thanks Mr. Plant for introducing the NUMBER 1, ONLY 1, spanning LIFETIMES, the MASTERS OF MUSIC...> *LED ZEPPELIN*. Never a need to ask, How many more times?...Cause cherished NEVER gets old as we RAMBLE ON.......
@@rog0622 Oh no, I never meant it to sound like JJ matches Zeppelin. Zeppelin holds a special place in my heart too. I was referring to your disappointment in music today.
The kids in the audience wondered what just happened. They had no point of reference. They were watching the birth of a new genre. A new era. And music would never be the same.
All I can say when I see stuff like this is Oh My God. Young men playing music like seasoned old men. All playing at their best. I still don't understand how the audience in these old shows could manage to stay still. Only at the end do they start to realize that they've just been hit by the hammer of the gods and start to move to the music. Amazing footage.
+joe smith - we knew what was happening, I saw them march 15 in Broendby and march 16 in Tivoli. At that time we didn't just jump up and down all the time, but listen to the music, admiring how good they were.
+joe smith People are followers most of the time. I don't think it was "appropriate" to rock out back then. As a rule, the British are really reserved. These days we are a little more able to express ourselves more freely and not fear any chastisement. That, or I'm getting old enough not to give a shit and rock out.
+Kali Gold se não sabiam ficaram a saber. foi assim que os Led nasceram..um concerto para 500 de cada vez...500 zeppelianos para sempre... if you need translation...portuguese to...
Watching this fantastic video, I can`t help but think of what was to come ...This performance was completely wasted on this deadbeat audience. Man, what a piece of history!!...
