You talked about how drummers could be underestimated or underappreciated in a band. You left out John Paul Jones. He is probably the most underappreciated member of Led Zeppelin. He does so much in the background that people don’t even know. He plays bass and he covers keyboard and he does so much with the production with putting the albums together. So don’t ever forget to give John Paul Jones his props.

Yep, the whole middle eastern sound to this, definitely makes the song what it is (more so than anything else imo). Not to mention his playing bass with his foot.

There was a time, long ago, when bands knew how to play their instruments and sing. No effects, no autotune, just raw talent honed through years of hard work. It's truly a wonder to see. You begin to understand why many of us "old fogies" disdain modern "music" so viscerally.

This is from the concert in 2007 at the O2 Arena in London. I'm 67, so this music is from my generation. Zeppelin is my ALL-TIME favorite band. Just to give you a little scope of the impact they made on music, there were 20 MILLION ticket requests for this one-time concert. They broke attendance records (for the time) when they came to Tampa Stadium in 1973. Best concert EVER!!! (and I've seen almost all of the classic groups from my generation). So glad to see so many young people reacting to my music. lol

4 guys live, best ever performance second to no other. R. I. P. John Henry Bonham. Never before have I seen such integrity in a band for best friends (John Bonham and Robert plant) say that a band has lost an integral part and split with nothing to prove to anyone only to have jbs son come in and smash it with sheer perfection from everyone. This is truly amazing. I must add that I was born in 78 and of a generation that grew up on led zepp without knowing. I knew 7 songs at least. But knew their reputation and status but only that and the obvious songs like whole Lotta Love was the top of the pops top 40 countdown song. So it was the soundtrack to all music. Now I appreciate it. Fully

And there are only 3 instruments. This is what is so impressive. They have such a big complicated sound out of Page, Jones, and Bonham...and of course Robert is also his own instrument.

Back in the 70s and 80s, Rock Radio stations around the country would play hour long blocks of Led Zepplin. It was usually called “Get the Led out.” The dj wouldn’t even need to make a big announcement. He would just say “it’s time to GET THE LED OUT!” Then we would crank up the volume.

It's called quality, there's no modern music that comes close.

They were crossing the Sahara desert (Morocco) and Plant fell asleep and dreamed this song. It shaped up so well, they were nearly afraid to play it.
