The drummer is Jason Bonham, John’s son. He knew the music and the groups style. Nobody else could have ever taken John’s place and made it sound this good. RIP John

@@RonHouck-eb1cn in an interview with Jason, he said he listened & learned all the music, because he wasn’t sure what songs they’d play. His playing is different then John’s, but Jason was the best person to fill his father’s shoes.

Jason was dope, a chip off the block, not as powerful as his dad but really good in his own way, he is the best drummer I have seen in this century, I saw him with his solo band in the 90s, then with UFO and supporting Heart on their Led Zeppelin tour, he is the real deal, an awesome talent, perfect for them.

@@vicprovost2561 I agree, the power of John was more an easy power, Jason did an amazing job && did his father proud. I had heard in an interview, when friends came to the house, John would have Jason play for them. John sometimes even woke Jason up to play, I’d say so proud of his sons playing at a young age. My opinion Bonham is the greatest drummer ever.

What you saw is an example of how truly talented Led Zeppelin (and while not seen in this video, other bands of The Golden Era Of Rock) were. No need for auto-tune and other garbage tricks relied on for modern music. Just the combination of being tremendously gifted, hard work staying sharp, keeping up on vocal training ... and tons and tons of pure confidence and swagger. When it comes to rock music no other era prior to or after The Golden Age Of Rock no one has come within a million miles of being nearly as gifted, as talented, as creative, as exciting or as entertaining.

Strike 3 for me too, tried then, also actually had tickets in my hand for them in Boston1973 but the show got cancelled because the crowd broke into the Boston Garden lobby and ransacked the concessions so Mayor White cancelled the show. Heartbroken! Also 1980 my best friend worked at a record store with a ticket master outlet their, he guaranteed 4 tickets to Zeppelin when the tour came to New York, then Bonham died. It still makes me cry at times thinking about all this, Led Zeppelin was one of the very few bands ( Beatles, Hendrix, Doors) I did not get to see...

Great reaction Steph, on drums is John Bonham's son Jason. He clearly had the worlds best drum teacher and was an obvious choice to perform this one off concert. This performance is 30 odd years after their peak in the 70s and proves they well and truly earned their place in history as the Greatest Rock Band Of All Time! Like MSG 1973, this whole performance is a masterpiece so you have many reactions to come. The entire experience is mind blowing. If I may please request the song, That's The Way, live from Earls Court 1975. I know you will not be disappointed . Keep the Led Zeppelin reactions coming and thankyou for your hard work and passion. The earlier days I was to young, when I was a teen, they were either to far away or by then stopped playing USA. Hi Steph. Actually the Celebration Day concert was in 2007, so it was 17 years ago. A documentary was produced about the concert in 2012. That's probably the date you saw. FYI Jimmy celebrated his 80th birthday earlier this year. John Paul Jones is 78. Robert Plant is 75 and has a striking resemblance to Professor Dumbledore :). Robert is collaborating with Bluegrass-country singer Allson Krause. The only downside to growing up with this music is we're all old now:)

A great performance of their greatest song imo. I think the modern recording has this huge bottom end which emphasizes how monumental the song is. The drummer is Jason Bonham, John's son. This was from their farewell concert. They sounded great. They didn't have the jam band, let's play 3 1/2 hours kind of attitude for this concert, but still sounded great, was a great show (I only saw the dvd, not live ha ha).

Steph. The last time they played together. It’s a benefit concert for their old boss at Atlantic Records. Jimmy’s guitar spot on. Plants vocals still as strong as ever and his story telling skills with his body language excellent. JPJs organ bringing out eastern vibes and remember he’s playing the bass line by using pedals under the organ. And Jason - his father’s son. Outstanding. If you learn nothing else in life - keep listening to Zep. More Zep Steph !!!!

Old men on stage showing the many generations that have followed what excellence in a live performance is, much like Pink Floyd, setting the bar of performance and giving a demonstration as to why they are the greatest Rock band that ever was. Rock God status unlocked and achieved. This level of achievement may never be equaled, may never even be approached by modern bands who don't pay their dues in blood sweat, and tears on the road, without the gimmicks, without the enhancing tools, just straight from the soul music. I think we are all grateful that they blessed us one last time and gave an example of what could be, not a fairytale, not a lost impression from days that seem so far away from the here and now. For those of us who were lucky enough to have seen and experienced the original live Led Zeppelin shows, we get our answer, of just how great it would be for this amazing band to have all the bells and whistles in stage theatrics of today(2010's) to give the ambient background to their acoustic gifts.

Great reunion concert, the only shame is they did not do a tour after as those old men could still play and do justice to their immortal catalog. At least we have this great souvenir of their last performance. Your reaction just confirms how magnificent they were, this music kills modern listeners just like it did us back when it was happening in the 60\s/70s. For more from this show, try their amazing No Quarter and get lost in the atmosphere! They could have sold out this huge arena 500 times when they put tickets on sale, they were overwhelmed they were still uber popular with all generations in 2007. So it is in 2024 and will be as long as we all listen to Rock Music. Enjoy!🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face And stars fill my dream I'm a traveler of both time and space To be where I have been To sit with elders of the gentle race This world has seldom seen They talk of days for which they sit and wait All will be revealed Talk in song from tongues of lilting grace Sounds caress my ear And not a word I heard could I relate The story was quite clear Oh, baby, I been blind Oh, yeah, mama, there ain't no denyin' Oh, ooh yes, I been blind Mama, mama, ain't no denyin', no denyin' All I see turns to brown As the sun burns the ground And my eyes fill with sand As I scan this wasted land Try to find, try to find the way I feel Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace Like sorts inside a dream Leave the path that led me to that place Yellow desert stream My shangri la beneath the summer moon I will return again As the dust that floats high in June We're moving through Kashmir Oh, father of the four winds fill my sails Cross the sea of years With no provision but an open face Along the straits of fear Oh, when I want, when I'm on my way, yeah And my feet wear my fickle way to stay Ooh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah yeah, But I'm down oh, yeah yeah, oh, yeah Yeah, but I'm down, so down Ooh, my baby, oh, my baby Let me take you there Come on, oh let me take you there Let me take you there

Steph Their set was part of tribute to their label, Atlantic Records' founder, Ahmet Ertegun. Tribute concert was recorded in 2007, year after Ahmet's death in 2006 at the age of 83. In 2012, footage released as Celebration Day with Led Zeppelin as headliner. One Million of LZ's fans paid 125 to 250 Pounds to get tickets by Lottery of 20,000 tickets. Concert event was at the O2 Arena. Fans thought that Led Zeppelin were embarking reunion tour with John's son, Jason Bonham. I read that Jimmy and John Paul Jones were up for the tour, but Robert Plant declined the interests. Jason learned from his father; John Bonham as John showed him of drumming since Jason was a kid.

The drummer Jason Bonham grew up with them. He was beatin' the skins before he could walk. Best to play the Zep songs.

If you want a great comparison, watch rock and roll at Knebworth and rock and roll at Celebration Day. You'll see John Bonham and his son, Jason, both absolutely nail a drum solo!
