Yes, that’s Jason Bonham on drums, son of John Bonham original member of Led Zeppelin, one of the greatest drummers of all time! who sadly passed in 1980 causing the band to break up. This is the only FULL show they have ever done since 1980. And I was VERY privileged to have been there in 2007 in London, considering there were 20 million requests for tickets for that one show! Great performance of the song and great to see them having one great night with Bonzo’s son, Jason filling in 😊
Rush's, Neil Peart would give John a run for his money. Equal in drumming skills Neil had a little more longivity, Jason has similar style as his father. Love them both Thanks Maddy.
What a talented group, John Paul Jones, the quiet but essential member of the group who can play anything, Bass guitar, mandolin, keyboards etc.. He plays the bass line with his feet whilst on keyboards. He knits the whole performance together.
What is astounding is that this performance is 32 years after the initial release date, when Robert Plant was approx 59, and Jimmy Page approx 63 years old. IMHO, this sounds as good as the studio album. They, like fine wine, have aged well. (And almost as beautiful as Maddy! 😉) ✌️ ☮️ 🎸 🎶 🎵 🇺🇸 ❤
This was a one time show to benefit the charity of their original record producer at Atlantic records who signed them in late 1968! There were 20 million requests for tickets when this was announced on-line, for an 18k+ venue, breaking the record for interest in any live performance in history! They practiced together 6 weeks after not having played as a group in 27+ years. The late John Bonham's son on drums, he was born in 1968 just before the band was founded.
Jason was born in 1966, two years before Zeppelin was founded, around the time that his father John was in Crawling King Snakes with Robert Plant. This concert was 19 years after last playing together, as Jason played with them for the 40th anniversary show in 1988. Facts are important when commenting.
A good comparison with this version would be the live version of Kashmir from Knebworth, 1979, with John Bonham (Jason's father) on the drums, a year before he passed.
Jason Bonham slayed those drums!!! I honestly loved this version every bit as much as their original studio release version. Maddy's reaction was just the icing on the cake! Thanks, Maddy!!!
The drummer is Jason Bonham, and yes, he played at the tribute with Heart. He's the son of original LZ drummer, John Bonham, who died in 1980. Agreed, it's a phenomenal performance.
What can you say.... The best rock band ever and the most mysterious rock song ever... It instantly grabs you and locks you in till the end... No escaping the power of Kashmir! Jason is a beast on the drums!! Do a Ronnie James Dio sometime...."we rock" live... With Vivian Campbell on the axe... Even though Ronnie was a little guy... Like 5'5, he just was a voice bomb!! Energy drinks could learn a few things from Ronnie and Vivian playing live...rip Ronnie 👍👍
Maddy, thanks for reacting to this video. Kashmir brought back so many memories for me. I saw Page and Plant perform this song live in Atlanta with my late brother. This concert was after Led Zeppelin had broken up. Kasmir was the best performance from that incredible concert. I think it's one of those songs that you could be completely sober and still enter into another state of mind while listening to it. It is a truly iconic rock song!
It is a shame they did not tour after the 2007 reunion concert, they said the could have filled the O2 Arena 500 times with all the ticket demand there was. Simply the best forever.
Led zeppelin one of the top quality rock bands from an incredible era witch was the birth place and time of so many very talented rock groups I'm 74 years young now and I feelextremely fortunate to have grown with all these wonderful rock bands this performance was absolutely superb they may be older but they are like a good wine class act loved your reaction
Led Zeppelin has not toured since the passing of their drummer John Bonham in 1980. Other than a couple short set benefit appearances in the 80s with different drummers and the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame induction this was a one-off full set, two encore reunion concert called Celebration Day benefit. Jason, son of the late great John Bonham sat behind his dad's preserved drum kit for this show, also used it in the Heart tribute to LZ. Great reaction Maddy, You Rock!
When Robert Plant was asked "why is stairway the best Zepellin song", he said "its not Kasmir is", Zepellin are not a type, or a kind of music, they are in their own stratosphere, they cannot be bracketed, they are simply the G.O.A.T.
You can see Jason Bonham in The Song Remains the Same 1977 movie as a very young child with his dad teaching him to play the drums. This was an incredible comeback for Zep! Love it, thanks!
Jimmy Page on guitar, Robert Plant on vocals, Jason Bonham on drums sitting in for his father John Bonham (RIP), and John Paul Jones (JPJ) on keys and bass pedals it's some of the best music you are ever going to hear. Always loved JPJ on bass and keys. Hey Maddy, What's the best way to put a request in and verify it?
Twenty Seven years after John Bonham's death. Yes , That's his son , Jason . He's played Zeppelin music practically all his life. He was 40 then Jimmy - 63 Robert - 59 JPJ - 61 In 2007 , When this was recorded P s. 20 + million people requested tickets for this show.
Led Zeppelin is one of the GREATEST band of all time !!!!! Thank you Maddy, great reaction and thank you for playing the whole ending showing respect and crowd cheering!!!
Jason Bonham! Very cool!!! I'm about the same age as them except for Jason. I originally saw them perform live in 1969 when we were all young! RIP John Bonham. I can't help but get emotional seeing this performance. They still ROCK!!!!
This is my favourite video of a performance of this song, mainly for the quality of production. Also, as a man of a certain age ( only slightly younger than Robert, Jimmy and John Paul) I am in awe that they can still put on such a show in their 60s.
This show is 2007, 38 years on from their start (as Led Zeppelin) in 1969...they haven't missed a step!!! I wasn't at this show (did get to see them before John's death and their initial breakup) but I did get to see Jimmy Page playing with the Black Crowes ( a lot of Zeppelin songs were played) ;-)
I remember signing up for the lottery to get tickets for this show. There were 20,000 tickets up for sale. 18 million people crashed the site in the first 10 minutes. Everyone was hoping for a tour but I think everyone knew this was sadly their last show.
I saw Zeppelin live 7 times from 1969 to 1980, but sadly I wasn't lucky enough to get a ticket to see this concert. This rendition of Kashmir is the best I've ever seen, and Jason was absolutely amazing. His dad would have been so proud!
This concert was 31 years after the release of "Physical Graffiti" one of, if not the best albums ever. 16 year old me saved up my money to buy this when it came out in February 1975. It has been my favorite Zeppelin song ever since. Keep in mind I had every one of their records at that point. This was a one shot deal, even though they were offered a 💩 load of money to do a tour Robert turned it down.
They picked up this idea for this song from combining rock, blues and music from India and it is fantastic! It has a spiritual vibe that transcends all religions!!
Jason hammered those drums. His performance was great. I agree with you thoughts on the cameramen. They did a great shot of everyone and did not neglect anyone including John Paul Jones who has been historically ignored by the cameramen. He is the one that quietly kept that group topnotch.
The drummer is the prodigal son of the legendary John Bonham, the original drummer for Led Zep. He frequently appears on most drummers top 10 lists. He is also known in the drumming world for his specific style of drumming. Its refered to as "Bonham Triplets.". Jason Bonham knocked it out of the park at this concert and at some others ive seen.
Led Zeppelin was a band formed in 1968 and that lasted until 1980, the band ended precisely due to the death of its drummer (John Bonham) at the age of 32 in 1980. The three remaining musicians (Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page) concluded that it wouldn't be worth continuing without the drummer. This performance in the video above was one of the few special reunions they held after the band's end and took place in 2007, the three musicians were 59, 61 and 63 years old respectively at this event. And the drummer here is Jason Bonham, son of the deceased original drummer, and the same one who participated in Heart's performance.
It's JASON BONHAM, the SON of JOHN BONHAM, the best Drummer of all Times, died too early... and the primary rock of LED ZEPPELIN! The "One who was always ON FIRE'!
It's amazing the timing of the stops before the climax of the song... It's like the first time was done already and faked for the audience... FAKE FIRST LISTEN!!
When they stopped playing in 1980 because the drummer died this band's music was over out of respect for his death but here they are playing a concert.
Plant's non-syllabic indicator is the Robert Plant Siren! Also this is a "soak in the glory of rock" kinda anthem. On a serious note, Kashmir, this "debatable zone" around the modern state of India is still a going concern (though not as much a Sikh Punjab independence perhaps.) He did a ton of Zepplin in his solo Tours, because, IMO, he was the unreplaceable unit. Also, he has a great sense of humor, he played Dread Zepplin (treat yourself) on his pre-show speaker reel!
I went to see Robert Plant on the 13th and 14th August at TheQueenElizabethTheatreinVancouver, BC!! Robert Plant sounds amazing still and such a great guy!! Cost me alot but I paid for the Meet and Greet!! ❤😊
Hey Maddie... I'm quite sure u have been enlightened by now that the drummer playing with Zeppelin on celebration day was "none other" than Jason Bonham. He is the son of the GREATEST DRUMMER that ever lived JOHN HENRY BOeNHAM!!! Not only that, "BONZO" was my mentor (he didn't know that) as he was to thousands of other drummers around the planet. It was a devastating blow to all the music world that sad day in 1980... We all love and miss you JB!!! R.I.P.😢
I like the KNEBWORTH 1979 version best, but, this Celebration day version is kick ass considering they're old geezers now. Rock and Roll is a young man's game, but not here!!
They reunited for that concert only, on December 10, 2007 at the O2 Arena in London, a special, unique event, and drummer John Bonham, who died in 1980, was replaced by his son Jason. Yes, Jason Bonham played with Heart when they performed "Stairway to Heaven" on December 2, 2012 at the Kennedy Center Honors.
It is said that Led Zeppelin along with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath make up the Holy Trinity for Heavy Metal .. Jason Bonham is playing his Fathers kit for this show.. he is amazing in his own right, his Father was the best!
Pafcho and LZ one after the other. You must be great, for the record Jason Bonham the drummer in this Kashmir is the son of John '' Bonzo'' .,One of Rock's most acclaimed drummers. Only subscribed to you recently. Add on just read comment below. So jealous yet proud that they made the O2 I was one of the 20 million who applied.
Just joined your channel Maddy - yea Zeppelin's reach today is beyond anything would ever imagined when I first listened to them - some years ago- on VINYL !! ..... love the react channels - especially yours Maddy - a group called Zepparella has taken serious followers as they clone the original Zep band. Keep the great reviews going - your doing great. My best, Simon
The drummer is John Bonham the original drummers son Jason bottom. Is he very much does his dad justice on them drums. And has been drumming Led Zeppelin songs since he could walk. I saw Robert plant and Jimmy Page in 1995 on there no quarter tour. Was totally awesome. You should check it out.
They are all near 60 yrs here...except for drummer Jason Bonham (near 40 yrs here). Zeppelin disbanded when drummer John Bonham died in 1980; when Jason was but 14 yrs old. This is a special video.
Why do these reactors always go the the geriatric version of a bands trying to recapture its past gloy of 30 years ago . Try being fair & go to the earliest recording when they were at the hight of Rock & Roll glory with all their original band members
Being old enough to have been around when they sprang on the music scene, there was nothing about this performance that was gratuitous. They were not trying to recapture some past glory, they were and are perfectly comfortable with their place in musical history. They were performing one time in a tribute concert for a friend. Their talents may have slightly diminished, but this version is certainly not in the remotest way any type of embarrassment. I have seen other critiques compare to favorably to the original. IMHO A CLASSIC VERSION
As old as they are here...they were in their early 60s....still the greatest!! John Bonham s son...the original drummer who died in 1980 ending the band.
If your life truly flashes before you die I very much hope Jimmy Page with that legendary sunburst Les Paul guitar is the last thing I see before I die.
The studio version with all its production quality will transcend you to a time and place that is Kashmir. When you have a few minutes please put on your headphones block out the world and listen to the original studio album version. Then you will truly be one of us. "I will take you there"
Yes Jason Bonham Johns son is on 1 of his fathers drum kits. John bought him first drum kit when he was a year or two old. So If anybodies fit to replace John it would be Jason.
Whilst this is a great version with Robert Plant's voice standing the test of time the only one to watch is the 73' live version. In a different league.
