The prestigious 35th-annual Kennedy Center Honors aired Dec. 26 on national television, highlighting the awesomeness of rock gods Led Zeppelin. Part 1 of 2. Sorry but Dropbox suspended me from providing the HD version from download.
Lets be honest here, Led Zeppelin are the greatest rock band ever. They wrote the best music , performed the greatest shows, played the biggest venues, sold the most records etc etc before the world of the internet . LZ are simply fucking the best band ever.
There was a radio station in the UK that had a poll, that you could take a member from any band to make a “super” band... The poll ended with Led Zeppelin filling each spot. Greatest. Band. Ever.
I saw Led Zeppelin in concert by accident on April 15, 1977. We sneaked in. I was just 15. I think it made me long to experience great things the rest of my life
+Ana Paula Fernandes Amen to that!!----I am 68 and saw a great number of bands ---but never LZ-----but when you watch everything, they were/are the best-----God Bless JB
Yup! He's the man of all musicians and plays instruments! Way too many talented and artists! A man of choice 👏 and fantastic dad! 👏 Bless him 🙏! He'll be the greatest music teacher! 🎶
SR 0 listen I Voted for Trump to. BUT Can we Take the God Dam Politics out of it! I've been to 200 concerts 80% of those artisit are liberals & honestly I don't give a dam! I'm there for the music period!
SR 0 This is about music, I think everybody has the right to listen to it. Perhaps you should try listening instead of showing your ignorance in your heart and trying to make this political! Child! If you really think you can do a better job then why don't you try running for office? At least get help to silence those demons in your head! What's the difference between you and ISIS, you sound exactly the same as them, just a different cause which by no means is a JUST cause! You and your like minded ignorant childish and silly wastes of decent human flesh are the reason we are looked at by the rest of the world with disdain and downright hate! You speak ( try listening) for yourself and yourself only...I hope and pray there are no others like you!
Zeppelin is in whole different league. Not the beatles nor the stones or any other band for that matter comes close to reaching this level of perfection. Led zeppelin is the pinnacle of rock and music itself. Sorry to die hard fans of other bands but just stop and listen to any Zeppelin song or album and you'll understand. Truly blessed that my ears can enjoy such an extraordinary band. Long live Led Zeppelin and long live Rock.
They're better than the Stones but The Beatles is another category. For individual song craftsmanship goes, as well as zero filler on their albums, Lennon and McCartney can't be touched. And without the Beatles, Zeppelin may not have ever ventured into Eastern sounds, folk or various studio experimentation. The Beatles laid the ground work for all who followed. Plus, Zeppelin based their sound n straight blues, The Beatles were based on R&B. You can't really compare a blues artist to an R&B artist. That being said, the Beatles original Blues material was pretty damn good, Yer Blues, I Want You, Don't Let Me Down, Oh Darlin' Get Back, One After 909 and I'm So Tired.
Yunior Esquijarosa. Your 100 % Right! And The Rolling Stone was and still are there way after Led Zeppelin broke up Rolling Stones that there still the greatest rock and roll band in the world! Only time can tell and it did it don't lie because they're still out there on top and they're still there what I can say is God Bless The Rolling Stones I love them! They've been together over 50 years that's amazing and the they live worlds apart from each other but they always get together to make music and to go on tour! What other band can say that after 50 years not many not many at all! But the Rolling Stones can because they keep doing it over and over again! the Stones are amazing rock and roll blues band and nobody can play like Keith Richards does, nobody could write a song like Keith Richards does with his open many ways of tuning on a iot his guitars for some of his songs that he wrote with five strings open tuning on his guitars and he play's some of his songs like that in concert with open tuning on some of his 5 string guitars, that is why he changes his guitars a lot when he's in the concerts!
this band just had it all. Great drummer, great bassist, great singer and great lead guitar. What else is there? Jack Black had it right. The best band EVER.
You have to love both Zep and the Beatles in diff ways. I can listen to Zepellin and feel their music in my soul and be astounded at their artistic talents. With the Beatles I hear them and am amazed at lyrics and sound that no other band can replicate. Apples and oranges.
TrueTube well that depends on your music taste. There aren't many modern rock bands sadly anymore. But Britain does well in pop, just look at Adele with the Grammies this year
I am a 66 year old conservative and I totally agree that Led Zepelin is the greatest rock bank ever. I still plug in and listen to them some days at work and I am transported to another place and time while I am underwriting loans. Their music still translates today and also has a nostalgia that takes anyone, who was young during their heyday, back to that place and that feeling when it was all new and exciting and very different from what everyone else was doing. Seeing the band, as older men, is somewhat strange. They have mellowed and become more ordinary as we all do. However, one just has to pull up some of the older videos on youtube to be transported back to the magic and intensity of four young men who were on fire and the music that propelled them to greatness.
@@johncampbell7678 I meant "conservative" in my beliefs and the way I live. Not political ideology. I guess we have lost the actual meaning of the word because our country is so divided that we no longer look at the world like we used to.
I love how barely anyone clapped and cheered when Jack said, "Bonzo." That room was filled with all the WRONG people. They obviously didn't recognize the nickname. Fools!!!
Michael Dunn I interpreted it differently. I think the momentary awkwardness was because he’s dead... and it probably felt weird to cheer at that point. Like a moment of respect or solemnity.
Led Zeppelin has always been & always will my fav. of all time...They are the best rock & roll band...no one can ever rise above them.....I Love you Led Zep !!!!!!!
Oh man... i was rewatching this cause i love Zep, but it hit me like a fucking brick wall when I saw Taylor singing Rock'n Roll. May you rest in peace brother and thank you for all the happiness you brought to millions of people around the world
I had already been on to the Beatles, Stones, Hendrix etc etc but when the Led came out in 69 I was blown away. Nothing like that before or after. Big time fan from then on. Saw them live back in the day.
in my life the best concert I saw and heard live was in Honolulu 1971 September and led zeppelin started at 8:00pm and played till 11:45, no other rock band sounded better live to date! wish I could take my three sons and grand kids back in time too know what it is like to really rock an roll.
The Beatles are in their own universe. They're more than just a band. They're so many things to so many people, that they transcend music. I don't think it's fair or even possible to compare anyone else to them. No one matches them in terms of impact, influence, acclaim or universal admiration and fandom. But Led Zeppelin. They're another thing altogether. Where the Beatles are many things to many people, Zeppelin's universe is rock and they rule it, they are rock: pure, sublime, unadulterated, seminal rock and roll. All other bands are stuck somewhere in between the two, not matching the Beatles in influence or coming anywhere near Zeppelin as rock prodigies and icons. Zeppelin is the best, the greatest, the awesomest, most revered and venerated ROCK band of all-time and I don't think any Beatles fan would take issue with that.
GDV84. But The Beatles got more fans then Zeppelin ever had! almost every album the Beatles sold went gold and we're number one all around the world and they had number one 29 number top single hits! Some of The Beatles singles were double one hits two! No one or band ever came close to that! And What the Beatles did in 7 short years like they did!
ASA 6668. Hey 666 jerk! Who the is the f**king bugs? It's The Fugs with Allen Ginsberg they sucked you like them stupid idiots? You got to be real jerk if you like them idiots! They're nothing but a bunch of dumb stupid dirty pics! He was a Socialist Communist, Allen Ginsberg he was all the way on the left he liked Hitler Hillary Clinic! That ain't cunperishing cunpiercing to The Beatles! idiot! if you and anyone believes that bull crap! You got to be stuck on stupid with nothing but a box of rocks in your head you dumb idiot!
Long overdue condolences to Led Zeppelin for the Kennedy Center Honors. Well done boys. Saddened that John Bonham couldn't be there. RIP sir. Long long overdue condolences to the Bonham family for your loss especially John's son :-( . By the way. Great speech by Jack Black. Great job sir :-)
The first time I heard them playing it was the Black Dog riff. I was only 15, low music knowledge, but I knew I had found my place. And rock became carved in fire on my heart and in my soul. Thank you guy's! You're and will be the best forever.
I couldn't help but tear up when Jack started talking about John's death . I used to play bass before arthritis set into my hands . It's a great loss when a true talent such his is lost . As the ability to do something that comes as second nature to you . I used to have 5 Bass guitars and had to sell them all . One of my faves was my Fender Jazz bass . It was like losing a child to me .
The first super band before there were super bands. Everyone of them was a virtuoso. I ran the arc lamp projectors in my parents theater in a small town in Northern California in 1976 when Song Remains the Same came through town. Still have the poster. Usually the sound had a volume knob that for most movies was set between 25 and 35 on the dial. I had it up to 75. My mon called up to the projection booth to turn it down, after the boos started she said to put it back up. My brother and I put reels on while we cleaned the theater during the day. Playing guitar you can sit in with almost any band and play a Zeppelin tune. Many a viewing of the Song Remains the Same at midnight movies through the 80's. Loved this band.
63 still listening, I had the opportunity to meet Jason back in 2006, humble is not the word. TY LZ for the music, 63 still listening.........................
Watching this AGAIN, 6 years later,..wow. My first concert, Plant plastered on my walls. Brings you back to a time where...it wasn't so hard. You knew your friends, your music...hmmm, thoughts
Led Zeppelin is ONE of the greatest Rock 'n Roll bands. Rock (music) is a group effort. There is no doubt that they ARE one of the premier bands, but even the members would acknowledge that they are just one among many. I Love Led Zeppelin, they helped me and many survive our younger years and inspired us to look at and explore the wide world out here. Long time will the Zeppelin live in the constellation of Stars.
I love this.I still remember listening to my older sister's vinyl Led Zep2 over and over. there was just something about this band. One of my best memories was in college getting stoned on a Friday afternoon hanging out with my friends listening to Ramble On trying to figure out that crazy drum/cymbal sequence. I love this music
By far the best induction/recognition speech and performances I've ever seen. I know everyone talks about how great Heart was performing Stairway to Heaven, but I disagree. They were good, bordering great. But Kravitz killed it. And Jack Black killed it. He was terrific. And the video was as well. Best band ever. Ever.
***** It's clear from reading your other comments that you're a smug, arrogant, loser, a pathetic little troll looking for an argument, but what the hell, I'll play... The original question referred to "the British", I answered as a British man living in Britain. As such, I'm fully aware of our culture, society, outlook, hopes and fears etc. ALL things that drive great art. All art reflects the artist, you don't need to BE an artist to understand and appreciate this, although you do need a degree of intelligence. You think Jimmy Page is a great guitarist? But by YOUR reasoning, unless you can play as well as him you don't know what the fuck you're talking about, right? Fucktard. You seem incapable of not taking everything LITERALLY. Do you have Asperger's Syndrome? Have fun trying to outwit me.
***** I mentioned the lack of paragraphs purely because it made your badly written diatribe even MORE unreadable, and that's saying something. You know when you've won an argument? When someone completely fails to recognise that people have the right to an opinion without first getting YOUR approval or permission. You really need to get over yourself. I'm so glad you've "allowed" me to have the last word; I'm sure the fact that it saves you having to continually be outwitted is a complete coincidence. You hear that sound? That's the sound of the internet sighing in relief that you're "done".
Best Band Ever, their Music has been a massive part of my life for so many years...Their music is Beautiful, Pure, Deep, Exciting, Stirs up Emotions and Evokes so many happy memories and I just Love Led Zeppelin, they will always be Phenomenal to me and I am so glad that I has passed on to my children Great music that means so much. 💕👍😊
Well the band already has two guitarists, so were they just going to leave one sitting off to the side not doing anything? Not to take away from Page, he is a beast.
Before Jimmy...there was no template for what a Rock Guitarist should be. However - May ...Iommi.. Blackmore.. Beck... Howe...Clapton... Manzenara....Fripp .. all gave me good times...listening with my friends. Really good times.
I guess the only sad thing is that they'll never be another band like Led Zeppelin. To this day I remember making multiple trips to the record store hoping for the releases of Presence and In Through The Out Door.
Definitely. Even later music out of the UK has been great. Something about their being quite bright so the lyrics are good, and calling each other out if they try to make crap. They know it won't float. Kind of similar in Canada. There is a standard they need to meet.
Get over yourselves. Almost every "Great British Band" STOLE from American blues artists, The who admitted as much (To their credit.) The Kinks routinely pointed out their influences were American Music. And Zep, (Which I completely agree was the single best Rock Band in the world) had a to lose a HUGE case in both England AND America before they would come clean. And even then, it took Percy to be the band leader and tell the band to pay royalties to who REALLY wrote a lot of their lyrics and jst put it to bed. If you don't know this, You're probably 12 years old, you don't know Zep, you don't know rock, and you have no clue that both the English and Canadian "Standard" for rock and roll (which by inference is better than American rock) is by their VERY BIRTH, AMERICAN ROCK. You forget yourself. Do your homework before you get caught shitting out your mouth again.
***** Calm down to the frantic. Yes Plant gives credit to early American blues musicians; he adores them, but he (and many others) have also pointed out in later interviews that music didn't start in the USA or the New World and the melodies can be traced back to the Old World in many instances. Black slaves in the US were singing songs they learned on slave ships coming across the ocean, and they were singing on plantations and copying English made instruments. It was the way they made them and played them (using catgut and whatever else they had) that was so unique, and the tones, etc. Music is a constantly changing thing if we're lucky. Borrowing and putting your own spin on things is not unique, Simon and Garfunkel 'borrowed' Scarborough Fair from the UK, Bob Dylan got into a boatload of trouble for doing the same with Japanese songs. Artists get inspired by other artists, that's what they do. Don't be so small-minded and reactionary. I wasn't referring to blues-inspired UK musicians exclusively. British and Canadian musicians have been extraordinary for the last several decades, do YOUR research, that was the point. No need to be so petulant.
I only can say I´m agree with him. I saw them in 2007 after seen "the other 4 or 5" and they still rocking far and better than any other. (it´s my opinion)
I don't think any other band covered as much ground musically as LZ. They started as a blues band like every other great band from the UK . But they changed styles over and over again despite massive success with other styles. It takes balls to do that. They played what they wanted to and didn't follow trends. They influenced metal , punk , progressive and alternative rock .
the musicians I see these days keeps me thinking that how lucky I have been to grow up listening to these greatest bands, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, The Irish Rovers, The Pouges, The Dubliners...
I remember the very first time I heard a Led Zeppelin album, 25 years ago or so. It was a CD I had found in my elder brother's room, back when I was 13 or 14. I felt curiosity and decided to give it a try. It was Led Zeppelin II; the initial riff of Whole Lotta Love immediately captured my attention, but the drums entrance just stole my soul, being a (now frustrated) drummer myself. I am so glad that album was there that day... Greatest rock band ever. Thank you.
Zeppelins music is timeless. It will never get old. My son is three and hes already starting to rock out to the mighty Zep. There will never be another band like this ever again. Its great to show my son music that was, is and will always be killer!
That's really"Rock",.. not _Rock n Roll"......Springsteen was/is a far better example of rock n roll...Stones and the Beatles are far better examples of Rock and Roll. I love Zep, and hell, my former in-law, David Chackler, helped produce the first two Queen albums...but that's not really rock and roll kid. Try Ten Years After, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran (Summertime Blues), The Hollies Long Cool Woman With a Red Dress or maybe Blue Suede Shoes..then play Whole Lotta Love and the distinct difference should be very clear..I happen to love it all, and playing it since 1963....
Guys, they are beyond any other band because they perfectly matched Voice, lyrics that speaks to the soul of humanity, music that is transcendent and rhythm that is addictive: all these combined generate wild emotions! Very few can do this, and also few can totally appreciate this. Other bands are just musically enjoyable (maybe with some good lyrics) so became famous to the masses. But you need a high sensitivity and openness to fully understand their songs, so far ... they are number 1 absolutely!
