Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world.

Today's "musicians" have little to no talent and rely on lyricism, stage performance, and they're swagger. Absolutely zero fucking talent. It's actually REALLY sad when you start to realize that all the truely great musicians that we've lost in their prime and the "talent" pool isn't replenishing it, at all. We'll never see anyone quite like Chris Cornell, Stevie Ray Vaughn, or Dimebag Darrell ever again and it was too damn soon! My God, it's mind blowing to think how much FUCKING GREAT music we never got to hear because they left this world too soon. Imagine SRV, John Bonham, Cliff Burton and Chris Cornell performing together on the same stage. So depressing to know nothing even CLOSE to that will ever happen, again. On a side note, check out Senri Kawaguchi(?). Super petite but impressively powerful Chinese woman drummer. In my top 5 all time for sure and that's tough company.

Yet in the 1980s I recall making fun of middle aged folks and their ‘ancient’ music tastes from the 1950s, just 30 years before 😂 A key factor could be the electronics technology, it makes a big difference to how we perceive time, trends and fashions across the eras and generations.

You are watching him do what is called the lightning fast left-hand lead triplets from hi-tom to low tom and the bass drum (left, right, kick). Many you guys think he’s doing the insane speed of crossover triplets on 14:06 with the right hand, however many drumming specialists say it’s a left hand lead lick so if you slow down the video, u can see he’s doing it with the less dominant hand. But literally that’s unbelievably class for Bonzo, yep I agree no doubt that any other professional drummer could match that talent of this Zeppelin drummer. He’s definitely my No.1 drummer on top of my G.O.A.T drummer list.
@bubamaranovichok4901

@@thecorknicehero3073 thanks for the comment of a drum specialist view. I want to talk about why almost all real talented drummers are dying young. Many so called super drummers are still alive, so my question is, are they really so good? In an educational point of view Bonham,Moon, Yoyoka, Paulina, Sina, or other still alive drummers probably are the most difficult child’s or were child’s to handle. They live in another dimension and their heart working overtime. Four limbs coordination we poor and normal folks call it multitasking. As in every proffesion practicing is the key, and the best guitarists drummers,piano players, singers, even football players talents showing in their younger age. Everybody can learn and become an Engineer or Arhitect, but becoming a Messi or in this case Bonham needs extraordinary talent, which most the time overlooked by the parents from different reasons. And my take of all todays talented young and coming up artists have a huge help from the internet, so no wonder that so many brilliant kids can learn without paying huge sums for education, but sorry, Bonhams or Einsteins are not born in every century which is the reason that after a half century,no one even tries to touch Mobi Dick! Four geniuses as it happened in the case of LZ or the Beatles only happens if they have a difficult childhood or poor environment to growing up which can be the driving force to have a better life. Best example, a Bedouin kid in the Saharan desert in fact did find an empty oilcan and fabricated a guitar from it and become the greatest left handed guitarist in our time. His name is Mdou Moctar, and if you friend want to your jaw dropping to the floor, look him up on RU-vid. Thanks for your exceptional comment about drumming!

I did see them three times two nights at Earls Court 1975, tickets £1.50 for a good seat, £1 for a not so good seat Many bands did drum solos at the time Bonham was something else, I remember his high hat with small ching ring doing perfect eights to the bar. He was a very big part of the band but got few actual writing credits. Page was greedy.

As much as I adore Buddy, I like Bonham`s solos a bit more. Buddy has technique, speed and style like nobody ever will, but sometimes it tends to be quite boring snare rolls. John has it all too, but he adds a bit more balls and aggression to it.

@@promark5317 They were well into cocaine by 1969-1970. That's stage tech Benji LeFerve standing behind him throughout the entire solo, likely waiting to feed band members a "bump" when necessary. A blast of cocaine doesn't last anywhere near as long as a Led Zeppelin show. Bonzo and Page didn't get sloppy until heroin was well into the picture.
