I am dedicating this song to my brother Gareth Sutherwood: 17/06/1983 to 20/07/2011 RIP bro, Love and miss you always, be seeing you.
Led Zeppelin's "Whole lotta love" live from Knebworth 1979. The video was cut short as I didn't learn the end part at the time of recording.

@Rovanite
@Rovanite 10 лет назад
It's a 2006 Les Paul Standard. I changed the machine heads (tuners) and rewired it to have "Jimmy Page" wiring (push pull pots on each tone/volume control).The pickups used were the "Mule" (neck) and the "blackdog" (bridge) from BareKnuckle Pickups. The Gibson ones were then put into my Epiphone Black Beauty to help improve that :)

This was an excellent cover of my favourite version of Whole Lotta Love. You might be the only one who has actually covered this version on RU-vid. I was wondering, are you able to tell me what chords you are playing between 3:18 to 3:26??? I would love to hear from you! Thanks!
@Rovanite
@Rovanite 4 года назад
Hey, it's just something like this. I tuned my guitar to standard tuning, but it was tuned to how Page's sounded on the DVD which seems slightly lower than it should be. It's basically a bunch of power cords, but I hook my thumb around the neck which probably makes it look like something else. But yeah, these are the notes :) E B G---7777-5-33-2-3------7777-5-33-2-3-2-------7777-5-33-2-3-2 D---7777-5-33-0-3------7777-5-33-0-3-0-3--- 7777-5-33-0-3-0 33- 5 A---5555-3-11-0-1------5555-3-11-0-1-0-3--- 5555-3-11-0-1-0 33- 5 E----------------------------------------------------------1----------- ----------------- 11- 2

Hi Rovanite, Now that's an awesome cover of their live version of WL at Knebworth ! I was wondering what's that riff you are starting 1:52 l really can't tell and it sound awesome ! just tell me what fret you are on :) Thanks and have a good day !
@Rovanite
@Rovanite 9 лет назад
Thanks!! In all honesty I have no clue whhere it's originally from, so I assumed Page just made it up. As for the tab it's something like: G ------------------------------------------9-----------------9-h11--9---------------------------------7------ D -------------------------------------------9-----------------9--------9---11p9-------------------7--7------- A ----5--5--5--5---------5-5-5-5-6-7-----------------------------------------11--------7-h9----------- E -7--7--7--7--3-0---7-7-7-7-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Those are the main bits, and just repeat those whenever I do in the video ...I'm terrible at writing tabs, so timings you'll have to work out from the video. But that's basically what I'm playing. Hope that helps!

@markedwards7721
@markedwards7721 4 года назад
What I suggest, do't try to copy it exactly, instead, make your performance as indifferent and aggressive and loose as possible. Make it look like you are gone and totally absorbed in your own way to play it! What I like to do, is figure out what he did the best I can research, then when I play it I play it like I wish he would have played it instead of how he really played it That gives any cover version some respect for my preferences. Heck, he might abandon any of these alternate riffs after having tried them out in this one performance.
@Rovanite
@Rovanite 4 года назад
Yeah it's definitely good to let loose and do your own interpretation. For this (as it was many years ago) I was just trying to figure out what he played, and as soon as I did I recorded it. Nowadays I'm more casual when playing so it isn't always a perfect copy as I tend to mix songs up a bit. :)
@liamfenwicker
@liamfenwicker 7 лет назад
so he didn't use the right hand mute on the low E string during the main riff in this version?
@Rovanite
@Rovanite 7 лет назад
I don't think he did. His hand flows over the strings quite freely so it doesn't look (or sound) like he's muting the low E. I could be wrong, but that's just my interpretation :)

@Rovanite
@Rovanite 4 года назад
I checked my amp and I wasn't playing with added Reverb. It's possible you're either hearing the music playing behind me through the speakers, or it's just a natural reverb as the room was small.
@markedwards7721
@markedwards7721 4 года назад
@@Rovanite Whenever I try to play this song, I am always tormented because my ear hears the main riff as played with all downstrokes, which makes it sound so bad-assed, yet I've never seen Page on camera playing it that way, and for certain I am not consistently quick enough to play it that way (downstrokes). But when I see Page play alternating picking, to me it doesn't sound as awesome as it does on the original record. Now, people say that when Page was young, he could pick just much faster than later, but, I just dun't know. Plus It seems like I can hear John Paul's bass pick hits on the bass strings in there and that confuses things. One thing for sure, the echo on the main riff is a lot about why it sounds so cool. To me, if you're gonna play it live, the idea should be, that you're so damn caught up in playing it cool that you get across that you've forgotten that there is even an audience group there listening to you, and you also get across that you are so freackin out of control at the solo, that there is no telling what the riffs may end up being! That's real rock guitar, the idea being the musician is so turned on that he is just wailing it and has lost himself in it !! It's the indifference, and Hendrix had that too, just lost in his own interpretations.
@MrHoW2Guitar
@MrHoW2Guitar 10 лет назад
Simple chords sound horrible with this. You need more than two notes to make a chord. Just saying.
@Rovanite
@Rovanite 10 лет назад
Which point are you referring to? Most of the "chords" I am playing have either 3 or 4 notes in them. The rest are just a bunch of single notes, sometimes coupled up with another string to cause a duel sound.
