Great review and cool lantern. This lantern would have been perfect. Unfortunately, the proprietary charging cable makes this light less ideal for camping. This cable would be just one more item to remember to pack. A USB charging port would be better for camping.

Hej Todderbert thanks for the review interesting Lantern and also the Ledlenser Lantern ML6 is very interesting and what was nice when I googled these lanterns is that they can be bought in Sweden at Swedish retailers. So absolutely they seem to be very good lanterns with good light and we are heading towards darker times so a lantern is very good to have take care have a nice söndag.
Meh. I'm researching lanterns and this Ledlenser ML4 doesn't seem that great. 14500 isn't a very common type of battery. AA is the gold standard and is what I would want to run, but I want find any data published about its light output or runtime when using an AA. But even going by its numbers for the 14500, it's not very impressive compared to other options. I don't like that it has a USB port, as that is another vulnerability for ingress. And I don't like that the "strap" appears to be rigid and fixed in place, rather than folding down - this makes it larger than other options. The only thing this really has going for it is its weight, which seems lower than anything else I've seen... But for ultralight backpacking, you'd be better off just packing a single general-purpose flashlight and using a diffuser. A lantern is more for car camping or at-home use for me, so weight isn't really an issue. Something like the Streamlight Siege AA, Fenix CL23, or the Nitecore LA10 seem like better lantern options to me.
