I finally got my Lee Auto-Drum to stop leaking with fine powders!
The best part is that it wasn't difficult.
►SW Heavy Pistol doesn't leak either, and it's much finer than SW Auto Pistol.
►Right after uploading, I cam across this video by HardCase 999:
• SOLVED!!! Lee auto dru...
If one doesn't work for you, the combination of the two methods should.

The LEE Die Lock ring rubber washer placed inside the Auto Drum body fix the leakage problem for me. My Auto Drum came well polished from the factory and it was still leaking CFE223 and A1680. The leak started to appear pass the 20gn charge (I was aiming for 25gn)The rubber washer took care of the problem. Its Magic! :)

Cool, I'll have remember that. You'd think Lee would have put an o-rings in grooves front and back to seal the drum from the factory.

@@psykoklown874 yeah.. Definitely a miss on the engineering side. Even after reports that people have leeks, this is still not addressed. Besides the leak, these drums surprised me how accurate they throw. They throw more accurate charges then all my Dillon powder measures and a handheld Redding powder measure I have. I replaced all my Dillon powder droppers on my 550C with the Lee Drum for all my rifle calibers. I hope they hold well. Even if one fails, its cheap to replace. I doesn't cost $150 like the Dillon ones.

@@jolebole-ytTrue. Once dialed in they do tend to be quite accurate, and at ~$50 it's not all that hard to just get one for each caliber.

That's awesome. I had a real bad leaker that I gave to my brother in law. Might show him this video. Nicely done!!!

Thanks. It was one of those "nothing to lose" things that actually paid off.

Hi, I tried the other way, 2 months ago and it helped a little. Can't wait to try your way. I really like the lee auto drum ( I have 3) but they all leak with fine powder!!! Thanks for the video By fine I mean h335!!!

I haven't used h335, so I'm not sure how it compares to Auto Pistol. AP is pretty fine, and it stopped leaking. Hopefully it works just as well for h335.

Thanks for the video. Mine leaks with just about everything. I gave up and use an auto disk now, which I love but maybe I'll give this another try.

I figured at worst it would still leak, so I gave it a shot and it worked. I've also linked to another RU-vidr's fix that could also help.

Nice fix . I use the auto drum for coarse powder and the auto disk for fine powder .

I've never used an auto disk. I've heard that those have leak issues too. I have two auto drums, and the other one has never leaked. Lee should just polish them at the factory.

@@psykoklown874 I did polish the aluminum base of my auto disc with a honing stone . I can run H110 with zero leaks now . I also use the adjustable charge bar .

@@jamespollard1670 Sounds like both can be fixed with a bit of polishing. That's good news all around.

Nice. I need to do that. Is there a reason you have not installed the screws to override the safety on the auto drum?
@psykoklown874
@psykoklown874 4 года назад
Just jam the steel wool in and twist it to polish everything. I use this one for 9mm, so I kept the safety. I disabled it on the one I use for rifle.

Surprised you havent disabled safety so it always drops powder when you cycle. Mine only leaks on extremely fine powder like H110, and then only a few grains.

I was playing it safe while reloading pistol for a while. I eventually bypassed it. I use Shooters World Clean Shot, and it's super fine powder.

Did you reinstall the rubber wiper???

Yes. I removed it so it didn't get damaged during polishing and reinstalled it afterwards.

@@psykoklown874 okay, cool thanks I just did what you said and used steel wool and it looks much better than before. It's smooth and shiny. Just need to reinstall everything and try again. Hopefully it spots leaking. I'm using Titegroup powder
