I was once in queuing up for a club in Middlesbrough - must’ve been 19 / 20 at the time. The bouncers were acting like they owned the place. All 8 of them were 6ft plus and juiced to the gills. Anyway suddenly Lee Duffy rocked up and there a sort of panic gripped the doorman. Some ran inside to get reinforcements, others pulled out knives and bats… there was this momentary standoff between Lee Duffy (wearing nothing but shorts and a vest) and about 15 doorman armed to the teeth. I must’ve blinked in disbelief - and when I looked again - all 15 doorman were laid out on the concrete with broken jaws, ribs and what not. The guy is a legend and still respected by all in death. RIP
I can’t believe that you hero worship someone who beats up innocent people that are queuing up to get a nightclub to have a good night... What if was your 20 year old child waiting to go into the club and some big monster of a bully beats him up for no reason whatsoever... What is wrong with you
@@geordieal9658 lol pal. So, the thing that confuses me.....EVERY SINGLE "hard man" that's ever done any media or wrote a book has NEVER lost a fight " on the cobbles" and broke every single person's jaw they ever fought. So, on the basis some of them fought one another, were these a draw? Are you really a hard man if you're six foot four, twenty stone, knocking out a pissed up ten stone 18 year old. On two occasions, I've flattened bouncers who were bullying kids and I'm only 5 foot 9 and 15 stone. They were wank when someone who is heavy handed and sober was on them. Mind you, I'm too old for that game now mate, the knees have gone. I couldn't even run away if I wanted to and if the fight lasted more than 2 minutes I'd be dead meat lol!!!
@@Andy007400 Ha Ha!! Dead right. Nobody had heard of him outside the Boro. Lots of tall stories going around about him punching other doormen out and them running away. It may sell books, but to the people that don't hero-worship a thug and a bully, it's total garbage.
@@kevvome I remember a well known hard lad paul was his first name I'm not saying his second , sat at the bar , Duffy came along side him and ghost punched him from no were , then the lady off my old estate who he hit and terrified to get at her hubby, it was like we all knew were we were when princess diana and john smith the labour leader died same with Duffy, I was chatting about him the day before he died to a customer insertion manor and went back the next day for him to say you never guess who's just been killed and we already know who's done it .. I myself give up trying to be an hard man when I had 3 kids early 20s and realized that's what truly makes an hard man some one who still today I go out grafting half crippled but still manage to support my family ,, these low life wouldnt last half a day doing proper graft .
@@stevebowtell6763 Yeah man. I totally agree. If ANY big heavyweight boxer or MMA guy had a ruck with Duffy he (Duffy) would have been in hospital asking the nurse to put the cartoons on for him. Loads of tales about Duffy's sucker punching guys. Same as Viv Graham did. Not recommended as both exponents of these sneak attacks are in coffins 6 feet underground. Live peaceably and love your family, just like you seem to do mate. You will live longer because you avoid all the shit that violence brings to your life. Good man. Respect.
Once saw him knockout 67 bouncers at a club in Stockport. They were piled 35 foot high. The fire brigade was called and he knocked them all out. Great man. Sorely missed.
Why was this guy never in any professional fights with people who can fight instead of knocking out pissed up nobody’s or juice bomb doorman who can’t fight
Duffy wasn't a drinker and while everybody around him was getting pissed he stayed booze free (not drugs free, but booze free) and that was another advantage he had over the rest. The other guys had been drinking heavily and Duffy was sober and only fuelled up with the pills he was swallowing, I wish the fuck you lot stop making him out to be a hero. He was a fucking bully and a threat to anyone that was out for a nice night out with his girlfriend or wife or even mates. He wasn't Superman and would have been knocked out by anyone that was sober and knew how to handle themselves. He made his name by hitting drunks and smackheads and when it came to Allo he was always wary because Allo had no fear of Duffy and in fact was getting the better of Duffy in a scrap in some club at one time before people intervened. He was like Viv Graham and sucker-punched nearly all the time. And why don't you tell everyone Duffy was never a boxer? You mentioned it a couple of times in one of your books, but that was only because Rod Jones and another one or two stated that he never did any boxing in any gym in the country. He did a tiny bit of punchbag shit and maybe a little of padwork but that was it. The discipline was too much for him and so he became an uncivilised bully that the whole of the Boro were glad to see the back of. With the exception of a handful of mates he was shunned and despised by the people of Middlesbrough that knew him for being a danger to anyone's safety that he came across. ''There'll never be another Lee Duffy'' you say....WELL THANK FUCK FOR THAT. ONE WAS ENOUGH
And why do people give these types of people attention and dedicate there whole lives studying them. Each time people "respect them" you are encouraging them to live up to a reputation and it's costing taxpayers money and draining police resources. Imagine if the world was full of these people, the world just wouldn't function properly.
@@mrlittlemouse1 but I’m saying is how many trained people did he fight with n not people who can’t fight that doesn’t make u hard n people saying he was the hardest man in the area is so ridiculous the amount of trained people who don’t go fighting on the streets whilst being pissed up is unbelievable he was just a bully who used to ko smaller n weaker people
This type of fables are created by bum lickers that have confidence issues they hang around bullies with a name and the name is easily gained if you hit people as the Average person will usually avoid confrontation for example if you went to a city centre stood in the street most of the day asking people to fight 99% of people would make no eye contact or cross the street. The other main factor in the violent life style is when the bully meets another bully they become friends or avoid each other as they have 2 much to loose if they fight I’ve witnessed this first hand all of my life I was surrounded by this types I was never a victim as I would hit back on a few occasions then you just got a hello 👋 in the passing they are a breed of human
Lee Duffy reminds me of the film brave heart when they said he was 7ft tall and shoots flames from is arse . I think rumors got out of hand with him he probably was a hard lad in is time but mostly it's 🐂💩
Id does happen years ago my mate had hassle in westend club he slept 5 bouncers my mate only 6ft 3 bout 17 stone..just a shame today most old school bouncer stuff is gone coz you have to be nice these days
I had a friend who, once he had some alcohol in him, had a very short fuse. He often came into work on a Monday laughing about the latest guy he had knocked out in the club. All sucker punches. One weekend he hit the wrong one and got a thrashing.
Nothing big about stealing it on unsuspecting people. Lee wasn't a gangster & didn't have a pot to piss in. He was made out to be some kind of hero but was nothing but a big bully.
I'm more inrested in the guy who killed Lee Duffy, nobody ever mentions him, even tho he's still alive & not in prison, why does nobody interview him ?
ORIGINALINDIVIDUAL i know I posted that as well.why doesn’t anybody interview him.Apparently he had a lot of fights with duffy and he still went out in the car park with him on that night duffy got killed so he wasn’t scared of him.
I'd love to hear this story, from someone who was standing in the line. I find it incredibly hard to believe that someone can punch 10+ people and not get 1 slap in the mouth. 6'4", or not, you cannot go untouched, in a fight, if the other guys are willing to throw punches.
It happens lenny mclean often took on 30 outside clubs coz tgem days footy thugs most run once they see a dozen of men.they thought was hard sleeping on floor after one hit
I'd imagine most of the people were just average kids not looking to fight, possibly never had a fight in their lives. So I can see how it could happen.
He certainly proved the people in the queue right when they whispered cuckoo. He would have beaten the shit out of me but beating a load of drunk/stoned guys on Saturday night out just for calling his bad behaviour is not the act of.a warrior
I find it amazing that an average lad who are ten a penny in every big city in the UK who never made it any where with Boxing or any combat sports get this legendary reputation and legacy. The stories are obviously exaggerated Chinese whispers, also known as bullshit. Lol
@Michael Myers In your fucking dreams mate - you do realise when he turned up to Newcastle on his own and put the town centre on lockdown that many of those men who ran frightened were boxers - many of the bouncers would have been boxers / fighting experience. Boxing is 95% mental, many of the guys he knocked out probably did have more boxing experience but in the heat of moment, with their lives on the line, can they use it? that takes a different kind of Animal
Only the snowflakes question the street hardmen, they were never in that world. The streetfighting hardmen were always feared more than any boxer or martial artists. The snowflakes will never understand.
I was out in blackpool, man it must have been 15 to 20 years ago now, with my brother and a group of friends, just there for a good night out and some guy was going around the club randomly sucker punching people. My brother ate one of those punches, but he has a good chin so he didn't go down, however the coward ran off before my brother could react. So we went looking for him, one of the doormen saw us all looking highly annoyed and my brother bleeding from his face so asked what had happened, we told him and he said yeah he's heard a few others had been clocked that night as well, if we see him point him out, obviously we said no we wanted to deal with the twat ourselves, but the doorman suggested that wouldn't be in our best interests, funnily enough as he was about to walk off the guy emerged again and twatted another random on the dance floor right in front of us, so we said yeah thats him. Doorman disappeared into the crowd then about 10 minutes later came and found us and said he's been removed, through the back door, and might have had a fall on his way out wink wink.
Alo was an average person who ended Duffy. Shame for the families involved but the story should end now. Books and films all done.this man here is just trying to earn more money.give the money you earn to his family or kids
Right. This time we've got a real fight on our hands. Peter Griffin, in a bare knuckle fight with Inspector Gadget. No weapons. Gadget arms however are allowed. Both men fight in a skip. Who wins Jamie?
@@warcrypublishing a few of the lads from 'over the border' said the same thing but with Gadget you can never tell. That little twat of a cat sometimes backs him up. Cheers Jamie.
This somes up the north east that this guy is considered a hard man . Places like glasgow , Liverpool etc have 100s of these characters who out lasted this bully
I've only recently heard of Lee Duffy and he sounds like a mortal terror. It's too bad he was born too early for the UFC - it would've been a good outlet for him. Fighting men need to fight one another.
@@warcrypublishing i a bet jamie mate Neil booth has more storys with lee than any other.. hopefully one day neil changes his mind and you can put pen to paper.. keep safe mate
How long would have Lee lasted in London Manchester liverpool Birmingham causing carnage in Boro and Newcastle is a much lower level than these cities with all due respect
Mark come to Boro and then say that, its a a freak place mate, its a town full of very hard maual workers ,Lee would of wiped the floor with 99% of men in any town or city!newcastle is a massive city, its a tough city a manual workers city not a city full of office workers, clueless
Think about it a lad in his late teens early twenties taking over Boro and Newcastle,it wouldn't happen again the lad was a freak, game as fuck 6ft 4 and a good fighter
Apparently he done exactly the same in Manchester. And as per the comments below, Teeside and Tyneside are very manual working, tough places- steelworks and shipyards.
I'm interested to know how Lee Duffy managed to knock 5 doorman out. Were they just stood there like cardboard cut outs waiting to be hit. Because Mike Tyson couldn't not knock 5 tough doorman out. The reason being is because 5 tough adult men would just pile on top of Duffy and kick the shit out of him. You've already confirmed that Duffy has been restrained by one man. Also, Duffy was killed by one man with a knife. If he had the skills to knock 5 doorman out who I assume were attacking him at the same time, how come he couldn't take one person on??? I'll tell you why, it's because it's bullshit! Lol
Cap doffed for leaning on that anxiety and keeping it on its toes, fella. Bad business. Been down that path myself, almost to the rope. Taken all the pills and advice but nothing gets you through it better than making your bed in the morning, walking in the fresh air and having love for your nearest and dearest. Keep up the fight and don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s all small stuff. Really enjoy the content especially on the Duffer, who I’m similarly fascinated with. All the best.
I'm looking forward to see the sayers movie especially to see Paul Venis play the part of Lee Duffy should be bute I've seen Paul Venis fight lethal mate Godbless
I'm a lancy lad and the duffy story is hardcore, I have found Paul venis through that and correct me if I'm wrong but watched alot of his fights which are documented and good fights too, he's a hard man with a back story alive to tell the tale with everything to back it up, hero right there on your patch brother should be getting put out there
I'm 37 now and and boring as fuck but before I met my wife I was a bit of a lad in the notoriously rough, small town I live in. I had probably a 2 year run when I was 23-24 yrs old of recreational drug use and pretty much constant drinking. I had 3 or 4 scraps most weekends and maybe one in the week as over spill from the weekend, I'd incite trouble because It was expected of me and I loved the feeling of seeing peoples heads look at the floor when I walked into any boozer in the town centre and even surrounding towns towards the end. I was young, 6ft 1", lean and fucking angry all the time. Looking back I was a wanker who was lost in life and needed focus, thankfully I found that when I met my wife at 25yrs old. Anyway, the reason for me posting this is because I am still looked upon as that person amongst people round here. I've heard stories my nephews have re-told to me about me smashing up 12 door lads and stabbing people? The stories start off vaguley true but then over the years chinese whispers seem to of added on fiction. The last time I had any trouble was years ago yet I cannot shake the reputation of how I was for that 2 year period. I have bought and read all of Jamie's books on Lee and can see his behaviour as mine was back then but he seemed to be a million times worse than I ever was. Great books and i'd love to hear from Boothy and Ducko but I guess they have their reasons. I think Lee was a bit lost in life and thrived off his reputation as I did. But I can't help thinking some of it has had the chinese whisper treatment over the years...
Good for you mate. A man doesnt hve to prove his fighting to anyone. And if you are a strong person, physically and emotionally then you are put on earth to help people.
I was precisely like you just took me to thirty not the hardest man by far as was surrounded by my citys wildlife, but 45 and raising my son and him looking up to me was a billion times better than impressing my mates just glad I got there all my friends thought I'd be dead by 25 and as far as Duffy goes he was as is reputation mental and a fighter by heart
I paused the video 2 minutes in. Did it end with Lee Duffy knocking someone out? Or multiple people. Getting away with it Scot free yeah? All the same stories differnt locations. What a guy to idolise honestly.....
I was wondering the same.rumour has it that a milwaukkee multi tool was always to be found in Duffys pocket when the bouncers patted him down as he entered the clubs circa 1990
The stuff on Lee Duffy and Paul Sykes is really good. Fascinating characters. Well done. I’ve always wanted to hear more about London gangster John bindon who was meant to be a right menace and lived a crazy life. Maybe one for you Jamie ?

I really enjoy watching these videos, so I hope this doesn’t come across as a hater, as it’s not my intention. I do take take everything with a pinch of salt, like all other gangster related stuff, and I’m of the opinion unless you were there then nobody will truly know what went on in them days. However, I can’t help but laugh when you say you don’t want to glamorise the lifestyle, literally every video you make is glamorising him and putting him in god like status. Regardless, keep up the good work and thank you for the content.
Jamie is a true crime writer and most of his books support registered charities. Theres no glamour in how Roy Shaw, Lee Duffy or Paul Sykes ended up. Thank you kindly for your input.
@@warcrypublishing I watch them because I enjoy them, like I said in my opening paragraph and I even finished by saying keep up the good work. I will continue to watch them. You’re right, there is absolutely nothing glamourise about it, I’m just saying that Jamie Boyle 100% glamourise it. Like just an example on this, saying he knocked double figures people out, as if that’s a good thing. First of all, Lee Duffy, was only a human. Granted, he was a very tough guy and fearless as many people have said. But, nobody knocks 10+ people out, so don’t portray him as a hero and speak like that’s a good thing, it’s a terrible thing. If, like he says, they started making bird noises, then so what? Ignore them. The most he could possibly have done is punched 10+ people, who were just waiting in a queue to get in a nightclub and most likely didn’t fight back. Because, as much as Jamie loves Lee, let’s be honest, and I’ll repeat, nobody has ever knocked out 10+ people who are fighting back and nobody ever will, it’s not human. Lee was an extremely tough man, clearly, but this example of what happened in Blackpool, he should be vilified for, not portrayed as a hero with super natural powers. That is my opinion, but it doesn’t mean I don’t like the content and I will continue to watch.
@Andrew Smoggie A certain level of irony when somebody incorrectly tries to correct your use of a word. Feel free to check the dictionary definition of literally, cross check your findings with my use of the word and then get back to me. 😉
A finest hour hitting innocent people queueing to go into a club? The guy just sounds like a complete bully, a thug throwing his weight around. Wonder if hw would have been so quick to lash out if the queue was at The Old Den, Millwall?
Just imagine Jamie if mobile phones and technology were as good back then as they are now? The content that you could have you could probably have written 12 books on Duffy
Well thank fk Boyle hasn’t got anymore ammo about Duffy. One book was enough and two books is better than any sleeping tablet. Boyle is his biggest fan and a total sycophant. Lots if innocent people suffered because of Duffy and his bullying. When he was fighting Allo he was out of breath and near to collapse. if the knife hadn’t have killed him a heart attack would. A life of drugs takes its toll and Duffy found that out at 26 years old. He’s harder now than he’s ever been.
belter video mate quality, everyone saying he couldn't bang, could only hit people when they were drunk... he was wiping the top dogs out in the jails.. no one was saying he was a good person, he was a shit person, done some horrible things, but his talent with his hands was impressive.
Interesting story, I think Duffy was a mixed character whom as everyone points out could be a bad bully at times I've read a lot of stuff before and agree personally that the bullying he received as a kid fucked him up and I think a lot of his behaviour/personality was a potential defensive thing with him from it all still as Jamie points out though there's not really many other people who've had such a story in such a short lifetime still a tragic end for him and his family left behind though either way ✌️
Half way through first book. Loving it so far!! Great these stories! Surely there’s more you can share!? .....Unless I’ve missed something though - Why was all the crowd Making fucking Coo’ing noises!!!??
How the fuck can you call a bully a legend, sorry he had a hard time as a kid but why would he become a bully if so traumatic.Should of used is talent in ring if so tough.
Hiya jamie. Facinating as always. As any lee story is. Uve obviously spoke to vince agar. With the chapter in bloodmoon by him. Whats the story with the video he did at lee's 21st? Did he give it to brenda? Does he not have a copy? Or have lee's family got it? On another note. A film has to be made of this man. But done right. On a big budget. By the likes of guy ritchie. Not like that rubbish that was made on lenny mclean. Dont know how ur gunna have done with this lee duffy story now? Its at its height of popularitty in my opinion. Its massive right now. N so many people are wanting more....... well done jamie. Good luck with ur next project!
You fking joking? A major film on a nobody druggie that sucker punched everyone and got beat up by Brian Cockerill? Brian wasn’t the only toughie he fought. Allo was no Mr Softie and fought Duffy 2-3 times and was getting the better of him at one time before people stepped in. Any film on Duffy will be made on a budget of £200 because he wasn’t heard of down south or hardly anywhere else. JOHN BINDON HE WASNT. DUFFY IS DEAD AND HIS TEN BOB REPUTATION HAS GONE TOO.
